    Thank you so much for your videos. I learn very slowly, but I am learning. I was confused by the subtitle in one spot, where the subtitle is "I am very happy today." It took me a few minutes to figure out that the sentence is really "Korean Unnie is very happy today". Little things like that can throw me off course, but I guess it is cool that I realized something was not correct.

  • @laurie_chan
    @laurie_chan 8 лет назад +32

    I have one question! please, when korean people say, for example 무서워 it sounds more like buseoweo than museoyeo (when speaking in the usual intonation. when speaking slowly you clearly hear 'mu'.) The same thing happen with the ㄴ which sounds like 'd'. Is there any problem if I just say 'mu', or should I try to pronounce it like korean native speakers?

    • @tahnjr
      @tahnjr 8 лет назад +3

      The proper pronunciation starts with "Moo". 무서워! (Museowo!) I'm scared! "Moo-suh-woah!"

    • @laurie_chan
      @laurie_chan 8 лет назад +8

      +Tony Ahn, Jr. I know, but KOREAN PEOPLE almost everytime sounds like BOO. my question is: is it ok if I just say MOO and NA or should I try to say the korean's BOO and DA?

    • @laurie_chan
      @laurie_chan 8 лет назад +6

      to foreigners it really sounds like BOO, but korean people don't notice

    • @laurie_chan
      @laurie_chan 8 лет назад +1

      and 무서워 was just an exemple hahaha

    • @tahnjr
      @tahnjr 8 лет назад +10

      I would focus on proper pronunciation. Like any language, you'll develop a more natural sound the more you practice and the faster you speak. For example: 불고기 bulkoki turns into "brugoki", 안녕하세요 anyeonghaseyo turns into "anyasayo", 네 nay turns into "de". Just as in English, "Did you eat?" turns into "Ja eat?" or "What are you doing?" turns into "Whatcha doin'?"

    감사합니다, 언니를 최고야! 수고했어요! ^u^ I´ve got a question concerning the pronounciation of certain words as for example "무서워요": i always thought that "ㅁ" has to be pronounced as "m" but i keep hearing korean native speakers who pronounce it similiar to "b"/ "ㅂ" and when you said it, it also sounded more like "(m)b"... is that a kind of dialect thing or is that the only proper way how to pronounce words like that and would it be wrong if i said it like "museoweoyo"? I´ve got the same problem with "네" - especially in korean dramas i oftern hear them pronounce it like "de" instead of "ne" and some people pronounce the "시" in "심심해요" like "chi" as in "chimney" instead of "shi" like in "ship"... i´m confused as to why? :) Thanks in advance for your reply and keep up the good work!

    • @Mizzanonymousx
      @Mizzanonymousx 8 лет назад +1

      Hey i was gonna just comment on the ㅁ/ㅂ thing. Its a common problem for learners of korean. I thought 'sorry' was 비안해 not 미안해. I also heard 모습 as 보습 etc. However, from speaking to natives, to them ㅁ doesnt really sound like ㅂ. Apparently it's our untrained ears :( just try and reaaallyy listen carefully if you can. Over time youll hear the ㅁ more clearly

    • @washitbyagianttruck9275
      @washitbyagianttruck9275 8 лет назад

      Mizzanonymousx Thanks for your reply, it´s the same for me with "sorry"! :D It´s not like a clear "b"-sound to me, more like a veeeery sublte "m"-sound that is kinda drowned out by a following "b"-sound :´D But i guess you´re right, i´ll just keep on training my ears by watching kdrama haha XD

    • @Mizzanonymousx
      @Mizzanonymousx 8 лет назад

      fading colours Was Hit By A Giant Truck Named Kpop yesss dont worry i totally understand! natives dont get it, because they are used to hearing it!! it is very subtle, but once you know the word its fine! like im sure you can recognise "sorry" when you hear it now, right? yeah good luck hun x
