First, some background: Tiffany ( and also Jessi) appeared in Series 1 of a reality/variety show called "Sisters' Slam-Dunk". It's a lot of fun but from its original premise of having its cast members fulfill 'small' dreams/goals that circumstances had otherwise denied-them, it turned into a "Behind the Scenes" documentary of the process of forming a Girl-Group, and producing a debut song, MV and stage performance (JYP became the songwriter and producer---and the result was actually a #1 k-pop chart hit!) Series 2 of Sisters' Slam-Dunk" is where YOU 'come-in'. Tiffany, and Jessi are NOT in the cast this time, but they are 'replaced' ( so-to-speak) --- by Minzy ( of '2NE1' ) and Somi ( of 'Produce 101', and 'I.O.I' ) as the youngest cast members who are also K-pop professionals, while the rest of the cast are somewhat-random 'actors/entertainers'. The success of the original series changing from a collage of individual 'stories' of relatively mundane dreams being fulfilled, into a collective effort to form a girl-group and debut with the release of K-pop 'single', prompted Series 2 to be similarly constructed, only 'doing the girl-group thing', right from the start. However, one of the cast members is Kang Yewon, who despite being a trained opera-singer, instead became an actress because just as she was about to 'debut', vocal nodules damaged her singing voice and destroyed her confidence---and she'd never been able to address the problem or sing professionally or publicly for a decade. She'd given-up on her talent, her training and her joy, because of vocal-chord nodules. BUT, she nonetheless joins the cast of SSD-2, even though creating a singing group is its specific premise. Jessica is _always_ "Sica", never "Jessi". The artist actually known as Jessi is a solo idol from a different label (and as you will see, a friend of Fany). That's the problem with Korea's love of mononymous idols... _there can be only one._ Using the second syllable rather than the first is also part of the Korean mode for nicknaming, it seems.

BTW... given your vocation, I'd suggest you watch the following, regarding both K-pop and vocal nodules---I think you could react and comment (probably as a short series) with authority and insight. My following suggestion features the importance of vocal coaching, that I found both informative and very moving.
First, some background:
Tiffany ( and also Jessi) appeared in Series 1 of a reality/variety show called "Sisters' Slam-Dunk". It's a lot of fun but from its original premise of having its cast members fulfill 'small' dreams/goals that circumstances had otherwise denied-them, it turned into a "Behind the Scenes" documentary of the process of forming a Girl-Group, and producing a debut song, MV and stage performance (JYP became the songwriter and producer---and the result was actually a #1 k-pop chart hit!)
Series 2 of Sisters' Slam-Dunk" is where YOU 'come-in'. Tiffany, and Jessi are NOT in the cast this time, but they are 'replaced' ( so-to-speak) --- by Minzy ( of '2NE1' ) and Somi ( of 'Produce 101', and 'I.O.I' ) as the youngest cast members who are also K-pop professionals, while the rest of the cast are somewhat-random 'actors/entertainers'.
The success of the original series changing from a collage of individual 'stories' of relatively mundane dreams being fulfilled, into a collective effort to form a girl-group and debut with the release of K-pop 'single', prompted Series 2 to be similarly constructed, only 'doing the girl-group thing', right from the start.
However, one of the cast members is Kang Yewon, who despite being a trained opera-singer, instead became an actress because just as she was about to 'debut', vocal nodules damaged her singing voice and destroyed her confidence---and she'd never been able to address the problem or sing professionally or publicly for a decade. She'd given-up on her talent, her training and her joy, because of vocal-chord nodules.
BUT, she nonetheless joins the cast of SSD-2, even though creating a singing group is its specific premise. What I was so-impressed with ( apart from learning technical details about singing, as both art and science) was the care, encouragement, expertise and skill exhibited by the vocal trainer (dubbed Mr. Serious") that enabled Kang Yewon to sing with confidence, skill and power, again---and in an entirely different style from her training.
I was so impressed, and so better educated about the demands of singing well, of what's involved and what making pleasant noises can mean to the singer and the listener---it brought tears to my eyes.
