This is amazing! Just wish they would eat better 😂😂
"Biscuits and Gravy" - Jacob Couch
What’s up champ!
This is all dope, but something is off. Money is being made and not spent on some basic safety issues.
Having your boys sleep like bums and labeling it toughness isn’t it. Someone is making money and not doing the bare minimum for these guys.
Best of luck to you all! I hope I’m wrong, and all of y’all are champs one day!
@@Knightlife07 you're a chump
To anyone who doesn't train BJJ at the moment, I can assure you the bjj lifestyle does NOT require you to have torn knees, herniated discs, torn shoulders and the plethora of other injuries he mentions while at the clinic to stitch up his eye. You may not be a champion, but you can safely train this sport by picking safe training partners, having appropriate warm ups/cool downs and looking after your body/diet. Getting good at this sport requires longevity and training smart. I don't feel these guys necessarily have longevity in mind, he says himself if he breaks a leg he trains with one leg, if he breaks his neck, he'll always be glad he had his team. That's admirable but it is not a pre requisite for success in this sport.
Completely agree but how people interpret the juijitsu lifestyle is so different and thats what i love. You have the SolCal surfing, skating, beach lifestyle. You have traditionals (gi only) often rejecting leg attacks. The nogi crew, like DDS. And then you have these guys who live and breathe jitz in a very hardcore way. Theres a lifestyle for everyone and some that have yet to be discovered. BJJ is very new theres so many lifestyles associated with it to be discovered
I don’t get the whole SoCal thing tbh, I lived in both Orlando, and San Diego, I’ve never trained harder, bled more, gotten injured more, than when I was in SD. Orlando was a bunch of casuals, which isn’t bad, but if you want to grind a good gym has nothing to do with where it’s located, which is the point they’re trying to make but still contradict themselves
@@ethanm7968 I think it's much simpler than what you're saying here. The jiu-jitsu lifestyle to me, is exactly the reason we are all here. We love training jiu-jitsu and use it as a tool/vehicle for self improvement. Anything else we do (like skating, surfing, shakas, saying Ops, eating acai etc lol) are just extra curricular.
No one wants to hear it but it's true.
Good to know. How about starting later in life, life 48 yrs old? Totally possible if taken precautions?
This is like the Westside Barbell of jiu-jitsu.
I said the same exact thing except Heath isn’t an asshole like Louie and these guys aren’t ego maniacs like the westside guys. But similar culture and environment for sure.
Thats what i was thinking
Facts! I see west side bar t shirts here in Celina.
Texted my buddy this exact same thing ha
@Anthony Hernandez haha exactly. These guys at Daisy Fresh are all pure toughness. I am rooting for them to destroy every juice head they grapple against in tourneys.
Theres gonna be a ringworm mutation traced back to this place
Lmao. It’s already out there
I hear its where Covid started.
Dude I train there and this is a sadly accurate comment. We've been open through the pandemic too I don't know how we've avoided a mass infection.
Fun fact: in the 20 years psf has existed- Not one case of ringworm, staph, nada.
Tony Ferguson is the one who killed that racoon in the attic.
Jiu jitsu gym and a laundromat together is a good business idea.
Agreed
hahaha most fun comment
You can't wash your gi there though😉
Did you watch the video? They dont have washers and dryers there
FYI, either John Will or Peter DeBeen did that here in Australia. Gym is above a laundromat. Gi's laundered is part of the gym fees.
If you donate only 10 cents a day, you can feed these elite athletes. Talk about the grind and getting after goals. These guys know what it takes. holy shit
Good idea. I don't think this is an appropriate use of the USDA food stamp program.
I'm surprised David Gogins hasn't showed up here yet
Classic. This gym is where David Gogin's learned his mentality.
David goons was born on this mats
This gym is gonna be the gym that will get him into bjj
He spoke with Joe Rogan about BJJ and he didn't sound like is something he could enjoy.
It was too soft for goggins
God bless the gym owner for helping all of those guys. Awesome documentary.
They didn’t need help 🤣 It’s not like Heath has picked a bunch of homeless kids off the street and given them direction.
They’re just a bunch of complete doofus’s who chose to be there.
"Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see"
Andrew can’t be a real person bro that’s insane he’s like a fucking super genius that lives like he’s a dragon ball z character
That is the most flattering description of me that I have ever heard
Wow.. I’ve never heard it summarized so accurately before..
He even has grips like a super Saiyan too! 😂
@@WiltseBrothers bro when are the daisy fresh boys gonna sell some merch and do some seminar tours. Me and my money is extremely interested.

Honestly, Andrew is insanely eloquent. I would love to listen to him give a TedTalk.
Ask him what your doing wrong on your knee cut and he’ll do it
You have to get him to sit down and focus first! 😂🤷♂️
interesting word choice
Needed this. I’m signing back up tomorrow
You can do it champ! Go get those rounds in!
Let's go 💪🏿
I feel you it’s been a year and a half for me. Gota get back in there
Are you in
So how does it feel getting after it again?
This is the longest Panda Express ad I’ve ever see.
Anyone else get a staph infection from this video?
Fun fact, they haven't had even a ring worm in there.
No ringworm, no staph, no funny rashes or growths.. Just a contagious bug that makes you win gold medals all the time.
It is dirty and the irony of the unwashed gis in a laundromat is real, but I train there and have never gotten staph, but I'm surprised I wash asap after being in the mats. I have gotten staph when I trained at "the lab" and it's an upscale pretty gym. IDK, grappling sports can lead to some nasty skin issues if you're not careful, but you just take a shower when you get home.
It’s a joke y’all can relax now lol
Twice actually.
I love what he said in the final part, even when he's a millionaire, he still wants to be there. Some leave to a better place when they made it, some made where they came from a better place.
Great dedication. This is the way outlined by Musashi. Extreme focus on skill development, and de-prioritizing everything else. Only way to win trophies in any sport.
I like how everyone is criticizing these guys but how I look at it is dudes who make it work and kill it at the highest level. You don’t need fancy things to be successful and this is the epitome of it.
Stop telling them how you would do it and realize people out there are working hard at what they love doing and doing it better than you.
I would 100% train there if I were in the area. Grinds like that create amazing people.
Lol you were on point till the last part. You would train there if in the area is bs, a guy making 100k a year moved from australia for this

Yes! Excellent reference.
This has to be one of the best documentaries on jiu jitsu
I also struggle with depression and cannabis use. With Jiu-Jitsu I went off antidepressants and quit cannabis, started to feel a lot better. Then came COVID Lockdowns... Also I can relate, because I have got a 3m x 3m mat in my living room which i very much love and often use.
You should come by the gym bro
"Toughest people in the world are from the midwest cuz it's cold"
Russians: "allow us to introduce ourselves"
Right? Just travel, and you will see what real hardship is. These dudes are gutting it out, but they're not from the mountains of a former Soviet. Bloc state nor are they born in an Amazonian city and eating once a day and training BJJ. It's American suffering, which is tough, but c'mon.
@@interestedparty7523 Exactly, much respect to these guys but they're eating at Panda Express haha
*Thais* “Y’all hear something?”
I like to call Russians the other white people, by far the toughest people on earth
@@interestedparty7523 Theyre pretty closr. Southern il is former coal country. Its like mini-appalachia.
By many metrics, theyre not first world.
I’ll never be as dedicated or good as these guys, but I still enjoy training and love BJJ. Go conquer the world DF, I’ll be cheering you on!
So much respect for the way they support each other, and I love the honesty about mental health - so much can be gained from being part of a team and using your body in healthy ways. Which is why it's weird that so many sports fans are kinda assholes who miss the point.
You guys inspire me. I started bjj 1 year ago at 45 years old. I'm pushing my body to the limit and whenever I feel tired or don't feel like practicing I watch Daisy Fresh videos and it always helps me attack the mats after. Keep up the awesome work team DF,
Man what a great story and what great production value. This is a masterpiece and an amazing look into the life of world level athletes
I have been trying to train like a dog on the mats the 9 months I’ve been in it. I didn’t know a place like this existed, but it’s just the most beautifully gritty thing I have ever seen in my life.
The fantastic thing is Daisy is slang for "Best" or "Killer" in 1800's slang. Like when Doc Holiday days "You're a daisy if you do." It's a reference to pushing up daisies and daisies on a grave.
Awesome
This is the most American thing I've seen in a while. These guys remind me of my Army days; guys being guys. Hell yeah - keep it up guys! Inspiring shit!
My Army days, without any hesitation whatsoever, go into the "best times of my life" folder! The experiences, the lessons, the comradary, the jokes...all of it. Theres not many other ways to get those experiences outside of the military...but, what these guys have going on at their gym ~ the winter/summer weather conditions, the brotherhood, the training, the mentorship, dealing w/ the suck day in & day out & making things happen ~ this looks like it could get you pretty close to that military experience.
This is quite possibly one of the best things ive ever watched... thank God for Jiu Jitsu
This gym is so charismatic, with just thier authenticity. Nothing fancy about them. Half way i though about leaving everything and moving there to sleep on the mats with them lmao. Something about chasing the dream in harsh conditions is next level.
The staph is the extra bonus of training here
You still have arms... you haven't been there kid...
The goal is to keep just a small enough of staph lying around to build up an immunity to it.
This is the type of gym I grew up in, but not the one I own and operate. You can’t beat the glory days. Love the Daisy Fresh crew.
"Kindness that the death can hear and blind can see"(c) Awesome
This definitely is a special place, a jiu-jitsu brotherhood for grappling ascetics. Also, Heath is a genuinely good guy.
I love BJJ, but I’m just a 40 year old guy with a job, a wife and kid. I can’t help but think:
How do they pay for food?
How do they make car payments?
How do they have insurance to go to the hospital?
How to do that have money for clothes?
Who pays their entry fees?
So many questions!!!!
Are we watching the same video? What makes you think they have money. I'm literally watching guys use a public hand soap dispenser to put in to wash their gis with
1. A lot of them work at food places
2. They don’t
3. They don’t have insurance
4. They only wear stuff from their sponsor really
5. Sponsors
I agree. I’m thinking it’s probably not quite like they put on. Are they really homeless and sleeping on the mats every night? Can they really not afford laundry detergent? After all that winning? Highly doubtful. They are college age kids living with their parents. You can’t possibly live in that much poverty and still physically perform at that high of a level.. is going to Hardee’s legit their only option for toilet paper and warmth? Highly doubtful. I imagine they just love what they are doing so much they choose to do that and stay for the day with each other, rather than go home to moms house to shit and shower.
Exactly man when you have real world responsibilities your constantly thinking when your next pay check will be. But these guys don’t have responsibility of kids and a family. They just have themselves and each other and they live to train. That’s why they are at the level they are and they don’t give a fuck. They are competitors and that’s what they choose to do. I still find it weird too but they are living the dream.
Bro did you even watch the documentary
the comradery and bonding is like that of a movie. it's inspirational and amazing
This is like Zephyr Skate team style BJJ
They're pirates mannn
💯
awesome, I am familiar with every single thing that they are experiencing, keep it up
They need to make a gofundme or something
hell yeah
I was thinking the same thing - I want to donate to help this team out. What this group has going for it is pretty cool. It's saving lives and winning medals. I hope they set up a way to receive money.
For what? One might ask - where is all the money from monthly dues going? The owner can’t spend some money to fix holes in the roof or electricity? Come on.
@@xpat73 part of the training is embracing the suck. Agoge style.
@@j0hn4th4nd03 agree mate, but the Spartans as with all modern military services placed a heavy emphasis on person admin and hygiene. But I do think the film is trying to make things look hardcore but in reality they have to be scrubbing the place well otherwise staf and other infections would be rife
Better diets and good rest would not make these guys soft. They can keep dirty gi's and their gym. Just eat healthy and sleep well. Super badass documentary and super cool story.
this reminds me of climbers and climbing culture !!
this film made my day!!!
Excellent show. I love how many parallels there are to GFT
Genuine passion, rare, and a wonder to see. Thanks for the inspiration.
I can smell that gym from the video alone. kick ass lads, get after it!
I might be wrong here, but I don't really understand so much hate towards these guys. I honestly think most of the people who hating just wouldn't last there a day and their best excuse is "I am just not dumb and I want to roll until I am 70, so I don't like this kind of training and environment". Good for you, then just be honest and say that this style is not for you, but guys do it and they have success, doesn't mean they all will be crippled by 40.
I know it could be too big of a comparison, but if we post Navy Seal's boot camp videos here, people would be shocked as well. And the interesting thing is that 60% and more of the initial pool of recruits would just quit, or get injured, or get sick during the boot camp and would be weeded out. Because they and their bodies can't handle it.
I think this gym is sort of the same. Those who stick around can handle it, and most of the people probably won't, so if it works for them, then it's good for them.
❤️
These guys are going to start another pandemic.

This was brilliant! What a great gym..
Some young folks in the Midwest making their mark in the jiu-jitsu world. Much respect.
Those days were my best days, I used to live in my car and I was going to college but training jiu jitsu all the damn time.. So much stronger that I won some high level tournaments and those same girls were wanting to date me later on hehe ;)

Love the toughness mentality of this, but if you want to be world class, you need a functioning body. Injuries may necessarily be part of the sport but catastrophic injuries are absolutely not, and your "world-class" grip break technique will mean jack shit when you lose all ligament strength in your hands. Unnecessarily short careers from talented athletes are a shame
I’m currently dealing with this I’m soon to be a blue belt and I feel like my performance Has went down while my technique has gone up and I’m mad because I use to be stronger and not ache like I’m pretty sure I came pretty close to rupturing my bicep tendons from over gripping and going to hard without enough recovery time I just don’t want to take a month off and then all the new guys catch up to me and then I’m on the bottom again !
