Agreed. I really loved the D'Addario Chromes on my Guild Starfire Bass, but since it's a weird 30.75" scale and has an asymmetrical trapeze bridge, I had to manually trim the silk on the E and A string. Since LaBella medium scale is 34.25" from ball end to silk, they are a perfect fit for the Guild AND sound killer, as you've noted.
Iv had the labella DT flats on my gibson LPj dc. The bass also has a Hipshot bridge, and a Serek B90. Magic little bass. The Labella flats, totally "iced the cake".
I have LaBella deep talkin flats 45 -105 on two telecaster basses and a P bass.. The smooth feel and tension is great for me. They have been on for two years now. I put rotosound flatwound jazz bass strings on a repair I did, and they were a much rougher feel.
Can't beat those! They will last as long as the bass. When I ran roundwounds, I'd boil them about every 10 gigs. Just wipe flats, NEVER change them. they get mellower and sweeter with age.
Would love to see a video on the LA Bella Gold White Nylon set. I've heard they're the brightest nylon tape set and I'm interested to see if they're bright enough to cut through a rock/metal mix.
After comparison I do think it’s easier to get a rounder sound out of La Bella flats as compared to Rotos, they are not as punchy as the Rotos but more slippery for sure. But they’re not as slippery as the Chromes.
I love LaBella flats! I have them on my Jack Casady, SG bass, and Rumblekat. I’ve tried many, but these just suit the basses and my style perfectly. I know the TIs are supposed to be great, but they are a bit expensive for me.
All my basses with flats have DR Legends on them now. They are super smooth and mid rangey IMO. You should give those a try? I think I do need to give the La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass a try as well, maybe when I (possibly) get a new shorty?!
Damn! I wish I watched this video just before I bought the Roto flats, because I was switching from Chromes and wanted brighter but I miss the feel of Chromes.
Are these the Gold White set? How bright would you say the set you're using sounds? I've been thinking about using these on a project but my concern is having a set that I can get a bright sound in addition to the standard tape/nylon sound
these are the best if you're going for that sound. i use daddario chromes flat because compared to these la bella's the chromes are on the brighter side of the sound spectrum, its great if you're using it for heavy music.
As a producer, engineer, guitar player, and bass player, I can say that LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats on an SG/EB bass, sit perfectly in a mix. The longer you can keep them on the bass, the better they sound. The silk is red because of the gauge; if you used a different gauge, the color would be different. Jack Bruce used the same light gauge set when he played his Gibson EB3 (SG bass) with Cream. LaBella makes a set specifically for the Fender Mustang Bass. Tey also used to make flat-wound and round-wound sets specifically for Danelecto basses. My favorite flat-wound bass strings in no particular order: LaBella Deep Talking (and Light Tension); Rotosound RS77; Pyramid Gold; vintage Rickenbacker. I choose the string according to the sound I want and the bass I'm using; same thing when I use round-wounds. I happen to have the the largest selection of vintage guitar strings in the world, going back to the 1940s, after WWII. I've done many tests with bass strings. Let's talk if you're interested.
I've just bought flatwounds for Danelectro, seems they are still making them, but they are quite difficult to find in stores. No experience with yet, as I'm still waiting for the bass the put these on ^_^
Great video! Was looking for flats for my 6 string, so my choices are obviously limited, and I kept seeing La Bella's name pop up, so I had to know how they rate with other players. Good stuff!
I’ve never been a fan of labella’s tryed them many times and even left them on a bass for a few years to see if they settled in but alas I’ve never liked them . Diaddario chromes just sound and feel the best over time . Especially on a P bass . Even short scale they worked much better
Killer strings. I experimented a bit and found they work great with my old Mexi Jazz bass with the neck soloed or all open w/ either 50% or 0% tone. Gets a good vibe with break up that isn't nuanced in the higher treble regions. Roll the tone off and you're muddin' better than an EB-0.
Put the La Bella Deep talkin bass flats, short Scale on my Short scale Sterling Music Man. Sad to say I just don't like them. Such high tension! hurts the fingers. Have to tune down to Eb to make them more comfortable to play. 45-105. Could be the bass? The original Ernie balls (45-105) felt pretty tight too.
Best flats! They're my favorite too!
Agreed! Also been really digging your mod videos brother! Excellent stuff!

Agree , I use the heavy 1954 classics on my Warwick and they are awesome 👌

Sounds great. It feels good when you find the right strings for a particular bass and yeah, leave those on there.
The exact set that I use on two of my basses. The other two are strung with Fender 9050L that are a bit brighter.

Nice heads up! They sound great! I might try for my short scales and even long scale fretlesses! Thank you!
Thanks for your video, very well done and super nice bass and tone, awesome strings for sure!
Great sounding strings, your fretless SG Bass sounds awesome Chris 👌
Loving the Gibson series. Thanks for producing

Cool idea! I’ll see if I can get a set or two!
I play Metal with Labella's FS on a 51'P.

TIs are perfect for the Casady bass, try them!

Best thing you can do with an EB. Fretless. The mudbuckers respond really well. Cool sound man!
I've got the la Bella white tape wound on my fretless jazz bass and the low tension strings on my p bass both are pretty good

This set were damn perfect for Yamaha bb734a too

What's the difference in silk color between the 43-104 and 45-105 standard scale?
Which bass goes well with pyramid gold string?
I've just bought flatwounds for Danelectro, seems they are still making them, but they are quite difficult to find in stores. No experience with yet, as I'm still waiting for the bass the put these on ^_^
they are way expensive, but they are the best strings ive ever used
i use them on all my basses, im a sucker for that sound
i use the heavy gauge set , .052, .073, .095., .110
Considering you can leave flatwounds on your bass forever they are dirtcheap. You have to buy a new set of roundwounds at least every few months.
Do these bass string add more bass frequencies or has a thicker sound?
Great video man.

Don’t those string have black string on the ends? Why do they look red ?
Could you guys make a video on the steve harris sig flatwound?
These are the best flat sounding flats. Want crazy flats? Try the Steve Harris rotosound flats. Bonkers stuff. Won't ruin it for you. Just to do it.

Try some SIT Power Flats.

There's different tensions of Deep Talkin Bass flats. Maybe try the low tension version?
@@n8bass Thank you. I did end up getting those very strings. I really like them,
I run my P bass with LaBella flats a Boss cs3 and a Ibanez tube screamer 808
I pull up to the gig and let my nuts hang
personally, best flats ive ever played were DRs Steel flats
And they only get better with age.
Flats strings?
Thomastik!
Brighter sound and less tension than La Bella!
Play in a decent mix🫵🏻
So you haven't played Thomastiks is what you're saying
He literally said he's played them on that bass. lmao
Is your Babicz bridge installed to your bass with or without the bridge plate?
Thomastik
