“Thank you” to the folks who posted this Doc, doc! It’s a good one and definitely worth your time. Chuck Jones disagreed. He said Mel was the MALE June Foray! My friend June would never let me pay for her lunch when my wife and I would visit her at her home, and we’d go out to one of June’s favorite coffee shops, which hhappened often. I first met them as they were walking into the San Diego Comic-Con many years ago. And of course there was Tex. BOTH June and Daws performed lots of voices for Tex Avery. We’re talking ANIMATION here.. And Tex WAS the master of funny. Even when I was a little kid, if an MGM. Cartoon came on TV, I knew it would be funny if it said “Directed by Tex Avery”..
I would love for someone to make a "docu-drama" featuring all these greats from a great era. Tell their stories, how they interacted in the business. Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, etc. That would make a great film.
Featuring all classic Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons with the most-funniest slapstick. Whenever it's Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Road Runner, Droopy, Barney Bear, Foghorn Leghorn, George and Junior, Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, slapstick-driven one-shots, etc. Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, Friz Freleng, Arthur Davis, Frank Tashlin, Bob Clampett, and many other toon giants are sure to bring us a good dose of comedic laughter !
Thanks to all these greats for illuminating my childhood.....I didn't find out until much later that a, all of my favorite cartoons weren't all Merrie Melodies or Disney, and b, these were all very much older than I knew....the cartoons made in the 70s and beyond couldn't hold a candle to those made in the 40s - 60s.....they still delight me now that I'm 60; their antics continue to make me belly laugh time after time and take me back to the innocent but erudite child (my sister taught me to read when I was 3) who understood the plot lines and was eternally engrossed by the operatic classical music that played in the background, that punctuated every action of every episode....they'll live on forever and I will be grateful as long as I live...RIP, your work, and my gratitude, lives on!

I'm actually a bit disappointed with "Little Rural Riding Hood," because the animation with "Red" is recycled from "Swing-Shift Cinderella." The animation works up toward the end of the "Oh Wolfy" song, but then it cuts off with a flat, unappealing coda. The end of the song and animation for "Swing-Shift Cinderella" had to be cut in order for it to fit "Little Rural Riding Hood," and it's just disappointing to me. It's a shame that Preston Blair couldn't create something fitting for LRRH, but I believe he had moved to another unit at MGM in the late 40s.

Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, Genndy Tartakovsky, Hanna-Barbera, Pat Ventura, Jay Ward and Alex Lovy are my favorite cartoon legends.
This documentary was also included as a special feature for Tex Avery's Screwball Classics Volume 2 on Blu-Ray/DVD. :)
Thank you, Tex.
So, Tex Avery came up with that 'eye pop out' animation.... things you didn't know..
Correction...things people new to animation, and kids today, do not know...

Straight up, saw this exact video copyrighted on a different channel. And it's on a copyrighted dvd.
I'm guessing WB isn't too concerned about this documentary as they usually would be with their cartoons.
Amazing man.
Typical BBC documentary fantasticness on a great subject.

How does he do it ?!
I have seen Chuck Jones before and it just dawned on me he looks like Adam West.
Oh brother…. Now I can’t unsee the similarities 😂
