This made me remember my first husband who died young ; he was a book binder and leather tooler amongst other things and he made some beautiful journals . Always liked experimenting with dies ; which you can glean from plants also ; one of the reasons we had beautiful kilts.

Wow! Your 1st husband was a real craftsman then :) I haven't tried plant dyes yet, but may give it a try :)

I would love my house and my journal to be the colours of a traditional Romany vardo, but I also love purple, yellow and blue as a combo. To answer your question, I grew up a disco diva, wandered into ska and fell over rock and heavy metal along the way :D My favourite band of all time is The Doors, closely followed by Todd Rundgren and Rammstein so go figure :D Absolutely loved those 'surprise balls :D Can't wait to see what you do with all your happy mail bits and things ;)

I bet that would make for a very colourful home .. and journal too :D They do use such vibrant and happy colours.
You have had an eclectic music history :) I quite like Ramstein music too. I loved it when Kraftwerk worked with Bill Bailey a few years ago. That was a lot of fun and not a combo you'd necessarily think of lol
Thanks Gill, I love playing with Happy Mail and seeing what I can come up with using it :D

Ha! You almost got me to sniff the screen when you held up the handful of Kool-Aid drenched fabric! Good one.

Paper crafting is so relaxing and I hadn’t really thought about the sounds until you mentioned them. I’ll think about it while working on my next project.

I am always amazed at how 'noisy' art is, but in a good way :)

Thank you Deb :) You have lovely favourite colours :D I was in my 20s in the 80s so remember such a lot of those songs. There are some lovely newer songs too :) It always amazes me that the world never runs out of new tunes. I'm sure there will be many more too :D

We tried vegetable dyes too, which was fun. Carrots, purple cabbage, poke berries, beets…all make interesting muted colors for paper or yarn. They aren’t truly color safe, fading over time, but interesting for sure.

I don’t like heavy metal either🤫. I listen to Johannes Bornlöf when I’m painting or crafting it’s so relaxing. Colours, I love muted tones naturals pinks and greys oh and black and white🙂. I love the mini journal and the crispy rainbow 🌈 paper 😊

It is very easy and you do not need lots of expensive equipment, I made mine with an old sieve, also some old net curtains and a picture frame!! Got my inspo and instructions from RUclips!!

@@myhomeonthehillside I make kool-aid playdough often for my daughter, so making kool-aid dyed paper is a logical next project in the kool-aid department! 😆🤗

Thank you Jessica :) Kool Aid isn't very freely available here in the UK. It costs about 50-60p a pack, which is much more than it costs in the US!

oops I left a cliffhanger there! I was going to say yours ranks up there as one of the best. It looks like you use very little water and you got very concentrated color, which is what I want. I'm gonna try it your way, seems the simplest. Lots of other people were using vinegar and baking soda and one woman used rubbing alcohol instead of water thinking that would make it dry faster...Ugh! Anyway, I think I'll stick around and see what else you do! Thanks for the experiment!

Can you use grape jello sugar free? Maybe that would give you the purple you are looking for. I love lime jello so I will try that.

I love yellow flowers, but that's the only thing I like about yellow. My favotite color to look at is green. My favorite color to wear is gray. My journals have a lot of neutrals.i don't care for any shade of purple. I like very dark blue, but dislike most other shades. OK. Color is very therapeutic and interesting to study the psychology of color.

Thank you Marilyn :) Colour is so interesting, I agree. I did my thesis on it when I did my HND many moons ago.
