@keiz5052 where I live Voyagers are $50 and Leaders are $100. So yeah, double the price. And no, it's not just compromised because it's still a generations figure. Its compromised because of bad design decisions. And no, I don't expect a mainline figure designed for children to be flawless. But I do expect it to be better than a figure that cost half the price from 5 years earlier. I also expect that if you're going to ruin the tank mode by adding the Schlong on the front of the for the sake of "toon accuracy", then it should at least be the right shape, colour, and be the correct tank. Which it isn't. So if it's not going to be sculpted to look like the tank in the show, why does it have the penis for toon accuracy? Why ruin the mode in the name of accuracy if literally nothing about any of it is accurate?
Keeping my Titans Return version, it's plenty good (at least for me). I did however see that someone removed most of the tank parts on this and displayed him without the tank kibble which really improved the jet mode a lot. Don't know exactly what they did but it removed most of it quite easily.
It’s honestly sad how this figure focuses and purposely goes out of its way to replicate animation errors and the animators mistaking what the G1 toy was supposed to be.
So thing about blitswings altmodes, he’s always been designed like that, even in the g1 artwork so I personally can’t complain about their choice regarding that as in I don’t mind it cause it’s accurate, but I completely get why people don’t like it, I just ends up making the other modes look incomplete and wacky but then again, he flew with those chunky wings in the series so is it really that wrong?
The tank mode is the perfect example of why animation accuracy is not always a good thing. I would be perfectly okay with the jet mode being trash if the tank mode was great but that’s just not the case. The cockpit just makes it look terrible and it was 100% intentional. Thankfully the robot mode looks good, but sadly it’s just too short and I don’t just mean for a leader class figure. Blitzwing and Astrotrain were both larger than Megatron in G1 so having this and the Siege Astrotrain be shorter than the Siege Megatron just hurts. I wish this figure was better, I was so hoping for the perfect mainline Blitzwing but I guess I’ll just have to wait until Hasbro gives him another go after a few more years.
The tank mode looking like it does nowadays is thanks to an animation error way back in G1. If you look at the G1 Blitzwing toy, it has the jet canopy in one side, and then the tank's upper glacis with the jet engines under it on the other. Funny enough, the guys behind the show got the front of the tank wrong, since the toy has both the upper glacis and molded headlights, but the canopy for the jet would technically be where the engine sits on the tank. Blitzwing is a Type 74 tank, and if you look it up, you can see the sloped upper glacis on the front, just like the toy does. I wouldn't even say it's 100% the animation team's fault, because the original Diaclone ad (where they also show an unreleased triple changer that could transform into either an Apache helicopter or an F-14-looking jet) also had this same error as far as I know, where they would make a cool sequence of the tanks transforming into jets, but they also got the original toy wrong. One mistake led to several mistakes later on. And seems that nobody notices it, either.
I love this figure: I don’t care about the jet for some reason, the robot mode is amazing and the tank is really good. Just wish he was bigger: thanks for being basically the only person to address that
I love how he looks in robot mode but I'm definitely not getting him for full price because both alt modes suck (the jet mode especially) and he is just too small for a leader class.
blitzwing has always been one of my favourite transformers. this one is pretty kibly, but FFS, on-screen blitwing was just as kibbly! legacy gives the impression of sturdiness that is somewhat missiong from the other version, and the engieneering is superior to anything that was before the veicles mode are all serviceable; the tank is a 1:1 to both the inspiration and to the G1 appearence; the jet is chonky, but every bio litterally has it just as chonky, the cartoon intro has it just as chonky. the kibble is a bit visible, but yet again, pay attention to the intro. the very same parts, visible treads aside, is there. the only note, is that the 'point' has a separate cover on the top a small note, this model while extremelly similar to the cartoon, but is absolutelly identical to the Blitzwing from Transformers Devastation. check the model wiever, shlong cover included I have to make a confession here, I had the chanche to grab one of those "right after the official announcement but boxless" copies for 50 and I decided not to grab it. as now it has been impossible to get a copy here for less than twice that, I am still kicking myself for not being a asshole in that case the gloves are just, what? at least they can be fit in all modes
NGL ankle pivots have completely spoiled all of us. And I am 100% included in that. All that being said if you insult my precious $10 Botcon Vector Prime I will ROTF Sideways you.
This is a good figure with some solid transformation sequencing. The robot mode's writs are very nice with their inward movement thanks to transformation. Toyhax does a great job with this figure the jet mode's under wing gets caked with missile pods and the tank mode's shlong is decked out to be a battering ram.
This is why too much G1 accuracy, whether it be screen or toy, can actively be a problem. The nose cone was based off a mistake due to animators not realizing the reference material they had included the tank being mistransformed, and so much of the tank being visible in the jet was just due to engineering limitations. We've come so far, and to deliberately mess it up when it can easily be avoided this time around is downright stupid, all to pander to nostalgia
Small tip for Blitzwing tank barrel. Use fork from core Skywarp, it has small enough pin to securely peg into barrel and can work as adapter for blast effects (can hold even big ones like those from Omega etc.).
Managed to break the stupid energon hands within a minute of getting it out of the package by plugging them into the forearms as per instructions, tried to remove them and instant disintegration. Tank mode is ok, robot mode looks decent but the jet mode is pretty bad. Disappointing overall.
Is so bizarre as a figure. None of the modes look quite right, but the transformation steps between them are so fun and engaging that I can’t help but keep doing it
As bad as the jet mode looks as a jet, I’m okay with it when I think about who blitzwing is as a character. Blitzwing is this hulking brute who is all about causing mayhem, and pummeling people, so a tank of course fits him, but jets always feel secondary for me. Even in the bumblebee movie when Blitz attacks he only uses the jet mode as a sort of speed boost to assist him as he pummels bumblebee. With astrotrain and octane I think about both modes, but with Blitzwing it’s all about the tank with the addition of flight via jet. And this jet mode as chunky and non-areodynamic as it is conveys that character really well for me, a sort of “yeah I’m not faster than a seeker but I hit harder and I’m going to ram you straight into the pavement” type of decepticon. So for me this jet gets a little bit of a pass
Still contemplating on getting either this guy or takara legends astro train instead. On one hand yes it'd be cool to have everyone in my collection look g1 accurate. On the other hand I wouldn't mind having sex be taller and appear more imposing ya know
On the fence with this one. Only ever owned the Animated and thrilling 30 which I feel almost broke me as TF collector as in it was that bad. Gun and sword were literally the only redeemable quality I remember from a toy despite it's Voyager price felt flimsy, and cheap whichever mode he was in. Legacy looks to have done a decent enough job, accessories again are good though could easily do without the glowey hand bits. Strange they'd give this guy a rubber sword when I literally just got Legacy Laser Prime, and is sword though transparent is non pliable, and super pointy in that you would not want to stab yourself with it.
Things like the jet mode cockpit sticking out in tank mode is one of those things I hate, but when I complain people just say "bUt It'S g1 AcCuRAtE!" and I don't care. Just make better looking toys and screw imitating 35 year old toys!
So I now have a question, are all of the promotional images of the tank mode incorrect? Is there parts forming going on? Because every image I see of the tank has the wings sticking out in purple which really breaks it up, but now that I see yours, I want it
"there's just a tank hanging down there" So like any G1 Blitzwing toy ever made? Even Animated or 3d party stuff are like that. That's how Blitzwing looks
Hope the price drops on Blitzwing soon,I just found legacy Galvatron for $22 probably because he was released twice but I would still pay $30-$35 for Blitzwing during the right time bracket(I've seen extras people just aren't buying)It has to be at just the right time because a few months after it disappears from shelves the price will begin to rise again.
like how the camera work on the intros is becoming more steady even if its not too special, though i feel like some shots overstay their welcome imo, love the reviews tho
I feel like they could have found a way of the arms and tank bits pegging together ans swinging around in jet mode so the tank stuff is hidden by/a part of the wings and the arms are less egregious hanging out the bottom
I can't help but feel they should have kept working on the jet mode to make him less tank hanging. I like the robot mode, its how mine lives but the tank and jet modes are a let down.
I've got my Blitz sitting in my "Pile of Loot" at BBTS. Granted I won't be doing a whole lot of transformation, I absolutely LOVE it's robot mode! And has anyone actually figured out what those bug dumb red hands are ACTUALLY for lol.
You can't give me 2 bad alt modes and a ok robot mode I mean really. I still like my titans return triple changers make me said to think of them ruining octane bc I know its comming. Siege astrotrain only had a weird gap thing in shuttle mode and kickass train mode I mean what is this?
Thrilling 30 Blitzwing is probably the most balanced design in that all 3 modes are passable. You forgot to pull out the tabs in the front of the tank, which make it look more streamlined.
I watched a video on blitzwing don’t remember the RUclipsr but the turret is facing the wrong way the cockpit of the jet is supposed to be on the back of the tank. Also they used color theory to separate the vehicles where this is going based on what was in the cartoon the original idea was that the other modes colors would be erased by the mind. The g1 artists didn’t catch on this and so we got this bad version of blitz to deal with.
if only the backpack could rotate then the treads would line up with the wings and you could fold out the secondary wings. At least then it would look like the G1 jet. One rotation joint instead of those stupid mittens would have made a huge difference.
This really bugs me but my legacy blitswing’s sword came bent so it’s now ever so slightly bent to the left (or right depending on the side you’re facing) and it just bugs me a lot it’s also way past return times so yeah I’m bothered by it but it doesn’t ruin the figure
Favorite Blitzwing qoute: *"Well, it's not 'Offline'. BUT IT'S COLD!"* (Edit: i think the energon weapons are supposed to be a reference to another Decepti-Tank, Demolisher)
I think that your nit picking toy guy, he this blitzwing is probably the best main line version of him, cant really nit pick on the kibble cause its a triple changer most of them have some form of it as there are 2 vehicles and a robot plus im pretty sure he had it in the cartoon in robot mode comprimises will always be made for triple changers.
I actually like the jet mode. It's uniquely Blitzwing and evokes how it appeared in the toon and the original toy. Sure it's not aerodynamic in the slightest, but it's certainly got a special charm to it.
Triple changers have a thing about one mode effects the other, but thrilling 30 whirl have the cleanest attack helicopter mode, and having that walking copter mode makes it unique
My review: Pay $20 for it and you'll love it; any more than that, and you will have a list of nitpicks that grows in size at a rate precisely equal to the amount over $20 that you paid. I must say, however, excellent review!!
This toy is one that I just cannot love. It has a massive cockpit in tank mode for "toon accuracy" when The tank itself is squared and resembles an AFV Rather than a proper tank and The arms basically hanging under his jet mode, The robot mode is alright but The rest does not do any help, and that pair of Energon Combiners ahh hands that are there just to hike up The price. Hasbro absolutely half assed it and delivered a product that need more time in The oven imo.
I feel better about the tank cock-pit since it's accurate to the g1 toy. Sounds stupid but dang it does it give me some level of comfort...or coping....
Nah bruh, Titans return did it so much better. It's a shame this sculpt was crippled by the Geewunn. Tank cockpit and entire tank on the jet. This was a serious compromise just for nostalgia.
If a KO company were to come out with slight upscaled versions of this and astrotrain, I would probably pick them up. if they were slightly taller then the titans return figures it would be excellent size.
I don't understand why anyone would buy G1 Transformers "used" I only buy them "MIB" or "MOC" sealed in an "AFA" graded case for 30 times the actual aftermarket price because I pride myself on being a dummy. When I die, my coffin will be "AFA" graded and sealed. Its only going to cost me $586,567,230,064! I can't wait! When I die, it's going to be so exciting! now i _do_ think that more budget couldve been allocated from those ,, weird gorilla hand things that have no actual reason to be there but even then theres not much else they couldve done hienstly
Ik because hasbro loves to recycle g1 stuff and don’t focus on other continuity’s
@@domydomy6668 Blame fans in this case, really.
@@tfan2222 true considering hasbro only listens to 50 year old man child’s that cry about a truck having flames
Honestly I'm somewhat unimpressed with this figure overall and I'm just going to stick with my Titans Return Blitzwing.
Agreed
Just wish he was bigger: thanks for being basically the only person to address that
I love how he looks in robot mode but I'm definitely not getting him for full price because both alt modes suck (the jet mode especially) and he is just too small for a leader class.
blitzwing has always been one of my favourite transformers. this one is pretty kibly, but FFS, on-screen blitwing was just as kibbly!
legacy gives the impression of sturdiness that is somewhat missiong from the other version, and the engieneering is superior to anything that was before
the veicles mode are all serviceable; the tank is a 1:1 to both the inspiration and to the G1 appearence; the jet is chonky, but every bio litterally has it just as chonky, the cartoon intro has it just as chonky. the kibble is a bit visible, but yet again, pay attention to the intro. the very same parts, visible treads aside, is there. the only note, is that the 'point' has a separate cover on the top
a small note, this model while extremelly similar to the cartoon, but is absolutelly identical to the Blitzwing from Transformers Devastation. check the model wiever, shlong cover included
I have to make a confession here, I had the chanche to grab one of those "right after the official announcement but boxless" copies for 50 and I decided not to grab it. as now it has been impossible to get a copy here for less than twice that, I am still kicking myself for not being a asshole in that case
the gloves are just, what? at least they can be fit in all modes
NGL ankle pivots have completely spoiled all of us. And I am 100% included in that.
All that being said if you insult my precious $10 Botcon Vector Prime I will ROTF Sideways you.
I didn't he was supposed to be leader class, he was labeled as a voyager at my local Walmart, and costed that of a voyager.
Did you buy it?
This is a good figure with some solid transformation sequencing. The robot mode's writs are very nice with their inward movement thanks to transformation. Toyhax does a great job with this figure the jet mode's under wing gets caked with missile pods and the tank mode's shlong is decked out to be a battering ram.
blitzwing should own the "weird" look for his alt modes. something like the Halo pelican/scorpion instead of regular earth jet/tank
11:06 That could be the tank's battering ram if you used your imagination.
If they somehow was able to fold in the parts like the G1 jet mode, I'd forgive a lot of stuff about this figure.
The hands is transformers armada Demolisher
Managed to break the stupid energon hands within a minute of getting it out of the package by plugging them into the forearms as per instructions, tried to remove them and instant disintegration. Tank mode is ok, robot mode looks decent but the jet mode is pretty bad. Disappointing overall.
Absolutely love this guy he’s got a lot of stuff you can do like put the feet together pretend he’s flying or put the tank part up
Is so bizarre as a figure.
Hey. it's me Joker. sorry about everything, good luck on youtube. I'm gonna get some appointments and hopefully fix what is going on.
I'll get the mold if they do overcharge
I hope those extra hands aren’t some sort of armada demolisher hint, they need to make unique molds and stop reuse where they shouldn’t
This is one of the few figures I'm buying just for the robot mode
6:01
RUMBLING RUMBLING
IT'S COMING
RUMBLING RUMBLING
There are slots at the arm panels and tabs at the back of the arms, but they might as well not exist, because they don't really work.
One thing I will say about him is the head mold I love it
I actually really like Legacy Blitzwing and both of his vehicle modes. I fiddle with him on the regular.
Are you gonna review studio series sideways?
Once it arrives yes. Gamestop just shipped it so I should be doing that soon
1:10. Hey That Toy Guy did you know you mistransformed the tank so the turret is facing backwards?
like how the camera work on the intros is becoming more steady even if its not too special, though i feel like some shots overstay their welcome imo, love the reviews tho
When they made a legacy blitzwing I was hoping they would make it like a new version of animated blitzwing cause the face thing is cool
They’ve never topped the G1 for how good all three modes look.
The hulk hand ...things are fine as missile pods for tank mode ...other than that I try to forget they exist
With heavy retooling, it could probably be an epic Galleom (Subspace Emissary) for the collaboration line.
if only the backpack could rotate then the treads would line up with the wings and you could fold out the secondary wings.
The jet is a mig 25 foxbat
That toy guy, what is the hardest transformer to transform in your collection?
Is this the best triple changer available from the Legacy line-up?
Yes imo
Favorite Blitzwing qoute: *"Well, it's not 'Offline'. BUT IT'S COLD!"* (Edit: i think the energon weapons are supposed to be a reference to another Decepti-Tank, Demolisher)
Mines legs where they clip together so do you have a fix
Before I watch the video, yes, absolutely. He offers much more than Optimus or Galvatron (just the ones that came to mind)
I can’t get the gloves on the pegs on mine are too short
I think that your nit picking toy guy, he this blitzwing is probably the best main line version of him, cant really nit pick on the kibble cause its a triple changer most of them have some form of it as there are 2 vehicles and a robot plus im pretty sure he had it in the cartoon in robot mode comprimises will always be made for triple changers.
That blitzwing legacy would be cool to have it oversized. If I see one I may get it. I’ll just keep it in bot mode.
I actually like the jet mode. It's uniquely Blitzwing and evokes how it appeared in the toon and the original toy. Sure it's not aerodynamic in the slightest, but it's certainly got a special charm to it.
1:26 SPOILER ALERT,
its not that great
I can't remember where I saw it but I remember seeing that the missile pods I'm tank mode are actually based off a real vehicle
glad i waited on getting this dropped down to 30$ on hasbro pulse cant wait to get this figure
Whilst the jet mode has kibble most jet modes that are non triple changer have lots of kibble any and are really chunky still so I don’t mind it
Really wish we get an overcharge version of the guy
Triple changers have a thing about one mode effects the other, but thrilling 30 whirl have the cleanest attack helicopter mode, and having that walking copter mode makes it unique
Siege springer is probably the best triple changer so far
I WANT ITTTTTTTT
(He's my favorite in animated, and G1)
Inflation is no excuse for the sizes of toys we’ve been getting and how cheap the plastic is
My review: Pay $20 for it and you'll love it; any more than that, and you will have a list of nitpicks that grows in size at a rate precisely equal to the amount over $20 that you paid. I must say, however, excellent review!!
Yeah I wouldn’t know…they never had him out in my part of Maryland
After all these years the vintage G1 still looks amazing! For $50 & it’s not even a leader class scale
I'm homeless now but damn I wish I could have had that titans return version of bkitzwing...oh well
Honestly, if I get Legacy Blitzwing is for robot mode. I prefer the tank and jet mode from TR.
I feel better about the tank cock-pit since it's accurate to the g1 toy. Sounds stupid but dang it does it give me some level of comfort...or coping....
if you were a triple changer what would you scan first?
a fighter jet or assault tank?
"Why not both"- Animated Blitzwing
The video is well done, however I strongly disagree on the Legacy Blitz being better than the TR one.
when the g1 toy jet mode is better than legacy
In all seriousness though, I just bought this toy and it had a few things that seemed a little odd so looking at your video to see if I missed anything. Mine does have a defective part though. Booooo!
Yuck. I hate this figure. I think mostly it's disappointment as i had been looking forward to what could be done with a leader class Blitzwing. This figure is unforgivably bad IMO. I voted with my wallet and bought MechFansToys 3rd party Blitzwing instead, which manages to do all 3 modes better at the size of a deluxe figure.
