My go to sim content creator before buying a pack. I can tell that you had fun with this one and can only imagine the amount of "Awww's" that went into it. Great video as always!
Yea, just got it today. I am loving it! I heard it was pretty buggy on launch, but most games are these days, especially ones as complex as modern games like Sims 4 are. (This next paragraph is long winded about my thoughts on buggy games. Skip to the last paragraph if you don't care. LOL) While I've not done it for decades, I know how hard programming can be and even how bugs we as consumers think "how did this make it out of testing?" when it did because they didn't get the bug with their small testing group. Once a game is released to the public, your maybe 100 group of testers becomes thousands and thousands. Having a closed beta or a public test server like Dead by Daylight has (any Steam player that owns the base game can play the new paid DLC two weeks before it comes out totally free. Its really great for them to find out how it performs on a wide range of PCs and also we players just love to 'stress test' and try our best to do the most insane over powered things. Heh. Sadly consoles can't participate due to the nature of console patches) helps immensely but even then, when the full public gets the game then there will still be bugs (especially on consoles that don't get the benefit of a PTB) Where I fault is when a company doesn't even care, like Bethesda with Skyrim and and Fallout.. Why should they bother fixing bugs when there is the "Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch" to do it for them? So yea, as an ex-programmer myself, I am much more forgiving of bugs, as long as the company is fully transparent about acknowledging them and an estimated time frame (even if that time frame is "we don't know, sorry") and as much as many hate EA, they are usually pretty good about at least TRYING to fix the bugs ASAP.
I'm glad I found this. I'm playing on a save with my main household being a couple that runs a ranch and winery. Now that I've got a good understanding on nectar making, horses were the next thing I wanted to look into.
You forgot to mention you can also buy horses from your smartphone. Under the "Home" category, below the regular "Adopt..." option (very near the bottom of the list), you'll find "Call Ranch Animal Exchange..." Also, you mentioned about them being like Cats and Dogs, being a Household member. There's one other way they're alike. Even though the wording was never changed, wherever it mentions Cat or Dog in the Friend of the Animals Aspiration, Horses count too.
I can say if you're low on money to get another horse you can always use the mini sheep/goats to both socialize and to make money for another horse (if you're not using cheats) In my experience that and making nectar helped with my horse needs
I think I do have an answer for this one, tbf. I remember seeing someone who works in games dev talking about how sims 2 had a like... abnormally huge starting budget when it was in pre-release, which gave it a correspondingly huge polygon budget, ie, how much detail they could go into on models/animations. And yeah, sims 4 was made with technology from a decade later - but sims 4's starting budget would have reflected the fact that it originally wasn't being developed as The Next Sims Game at all, but as an online multiplayer spinoff which was then required to pivot to being a full-on sequel comparatively *very* late on in development.
I always enjoy your vids as they are full of useful facts coupled with humor. Very enjoyable to watch! With your help, I am enjoying Horse Ranch much more than I thought.😁
Brilliant video, Petey! I've been having a rough week health wise, so I treated myself to the horse pack. I have only made a couple of sims with the new clothes and personality traits and I've made a few horses too. I love that after watching your video I can go and play the game with a better idea of what the expansion pack entails. I really wish they had made llamas and cows be able to have children. I don't play them much because IRL they are both herd animals and would be so lonely and depressed being kept by themselves. Anyway, that's me getting too involved in the welfare of computer game animals 😂 my brain is unusual 😂
this video was so good i had to do a search for your "Everything You Need To Know About Cats & Dogs" video only to see that you don't have one :( or if you do it's not showing up when i search for it. i see objects i'll need and gameplay ideas but i wanna know how to make a premium cat in the same way you showed us how to make a premium horse. thank you for all your videos though! most helpful Sims RUclipsr now that LGR has gotten sick of EA's BS
It's true Peanut I haven't done one for cats and dogs, but I definitely think that it's something I'll look at in the future :). Cats and dogs aren't quite as detailed as horses, as there's less ways to make money with them and no skills. But there's still a lot to explore :).
I have a horse expansion pack and this is the first time that I have dived into it ever since it was released. Your video is informative as always. Thank you!
As usual, such a thorough break down. Even though I don't like animals in real life,, this guide makes it seem like there's so many objectives you can play thru with this pack. I've decided to make my first let's play series on this pack, thanks to this guide. Thanks, bro.
Great video as usual, Petey. I'm watching this again as I'm currently playing on a horse farm, trying to make 2 champions to breed together. Does anyone know if the Training Grounds Lot Tait from Cats & Dogs works on horse skills?
Wow, thanks, we can really mess with the genes system to make the ultimate horse ahah. Thats great. There is one thing I wonder and it did not happen to me yet, but can we gain the horse lover or rancher traits just through gameplay Like we can for the other traits in game? I hope they did not forget that, it would be a shame.
Ah good to know they have the same coding as cats and dogs. I figured they did, but wanted to be sure before I locked my free spirited horse in her stall (I also just got Seasons today LOL) OMG "Tell Joke About Horse, Of Course" I AM DEAD. That's hilarious.
Hi Karolina! I just went to area in Willow Creek and entered the magical tree from there, and when I arrived at the Sylvan Glade the horse was there with me! To be honest it surprised me too, I thought the horse wouldn't come along but it did!
Do dogs and cats have the same stats when hovering over them? I have the expansion for that but my sims aren’t able to afford a pet right now so I can’t check 😅
Can anyone help me with my horse, I didn't know they can't climb stairs and my house is the house in the cottage world with stairs and now my house can't come on the lot. I tried all the testing cheats things and it doesn't work
My horse got taken away for not having enough food, but i do have enough food and when i checked on him, he was completely fine, is there a way to get him back??? ☹️
Sims 3 was so much easier because I can"t find any horse food besides the grass and water in pet stuff? ....my horse is starving now and I don't know where to get more food for it???
In the Pets section of Build&Buy you’ll find the hay manger and water trough. Get both, I’m fairly sure the water trough stays filled as long as you have water on the lot, the hay manger will need to be filled by a sim, like the normal pet bowls and automatic feeders. You can pay to fill it with hay, or you can click “harvest” on a prairie grass patch and use that to fill the hay manger for free. Make sure both the hay and water are easily accessible for the horse, you might need to put them outside or near the horse bed.
You might need to turn off aging for both sims and animals. I have aging turned off for everyone in one save and I had to go in and manually age up a heap of kids and horses.
If you get your foal's temperament skill up to level 6 before they age into an adult horse you get a bonus trait!! Love your videos
Thank you for sharing this Hazel! Super cool to know this!
Ay thanks I saw many things saying they got that reward but nowhere did it say what level
The first horse I had was rescued and she was needy and I found my sim eating breakfast with the horse…in the kitchen…every day. And I loved it
This is so sweet!!!!!!!!! ❤
"Petah, the horse is here." 😂
My go to sim content creator before buying a pack. I can tell that you had fun with this one and can only imagine the amount of "Awww's" that went into it. Great video as always!
Aww haha thank you Tina! Yes I did have a good time with the horses! They're very well done!

I am so glad that children can ride horses too!! I love playing with child sims a lot and them having their own horses is so cute
You can also train foals to eat hay via animal feeders, and train to eat prairie grass too.

I like the hair physics on the horses, I wish the sims would get hair physics as well
What are the hair physics? Do you mean how they move because, if so, I agree with you 😊
@@thisisfineeverythingisfine3051 yeah
Most likely means we’re getting hair physics in The Sims 5 though!
@@jeremywilliams3107 yh hope so

A great summary as always. My favourite sims youtuber
Awe shucks thank you Claudia! :D
Your Neapolitan ice cream horses looked pretty cool. Great job on those!
Could you do a video on the Sugar Skull please? I know they aren’t a very useful item but I’ve always thought they were cool.

You don’t like animals? What do you mean? I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who doesn’t like any animals.
Great video! Very informative.
I hope horses will have different behavior with vampires and werewolfs
I feel like it should be harder for a werewolf to earn a horse’s trust, mostly because wolves are predator animals and horses are prey.
@@fightinggamegeek9238 Good idea. Any thoughts of vampires?
@@Sokew86 Probably the same? I dunno… I only really ever thought of werewolves.

I guess the old saying "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink", is no longer accurate lol.
I’ve been waiting for this, thank you!
My one elder female champion horse was worth 48$ thousand 😅 but I can’t sell her I’m to attached lol. She had two babies one male one female.
7:55 - LMAO at the sheila in pink... anymore dancing like that and she'll break off at the ankles ...hahaha... 🤣🤣
Thanks a lot, I'm about to start playing with Horse Ranch and I would have made a lot of mistakes if I hadn't seen this video. So I appreciate it :)

Your horses are so beautiful ❤❤❤
Is there any way to extend a horse's lifespan? Like, is there a new equivalent to the healthy animal treats from Cottage Living?

did you noticed that you can give your horse opposite traits? Like fearful and brave or aggresive and mellow. It's so stupid:(
Ah good to know they have the same coding as cats and dogs. I figured they did, but wanted to be sure before I locked my free spirited horse in her stall (I also just got Seasons today LOL)

is it possible to get horses back when they have been taken away for staving? mine refused to eat and got taken

Is there any way i can rent a barn or something for my horse to live in? I don’t want to keep it on my house lot
I’m saving money for this pack but I also want the farm lift pack
I prefer the mini sheep 😅 so tiny and fluffy
Hey Petey, May I ask how did you manage to travel with your horse to Sylvan Glade?
Hi Karolina! I just went to area in Willow Creek and entered the magical tree from there, and when I arrived at the Sylvan Glade the horse was there with me! To be honest it surprised me too, I thought the horse wouldn't come along but it did!

How do you get a saddle
Are you able to get your horses, spayed and neutered?
How do you access the equestrian center?
You go onto the map to travel and then you click the building opposite the equestrian centre and you can access it. :)
Plot twist: horses added time travel to the game
Going for a ride is an easy way to increase your horse's social and fun.
Are you only able to ride young adult and older horses?
Yes, you can't ride the foals.
Mine won't even dowload, did you like delete everything to download this or what?
i got packs but i don't have this map

Stop aging in animals in the sims 4 is broken because they still die of old age 😏
You might need to turn off aging for both sims and animals. I have aging turned off for everyone in one save and I had to go in and manually age up a heap of kids and horses.
