I rode dirt bikes 20 years ago and just started riding again 4 months ago. I found a deal on a used 2020 KTM390Adv. It is more than capable for 90% of off road. We used to ride hard core technical Az desert single track. I went out this week to try one of the old trails we used to ride and the 390 did ok. I forgot about the 2 mile stretch of 6" deep sand. The TK70's got me through it with only 4 stoppages/ bogged the engine which were entirely my fault due to lack of strength conditioning and reflexes as a result of my 16 year hiatus. I was impressed with both the 390 and the TK70's after I got through that sand trap. Climbing loose rocky uphills was no problem at all. KTM hit a home run with this bike.

Great ride. Where you stopped and showed the view of the mountain (mt hood) was beautiful. We can all relate to the taking too much gear on a riding trip :)

I wish I had the money for the upgrades to my 390. Love that blue and orange color. l also wish I had dirt roads like this, but I live in the desert and it's sand and baby heads everywhere. The bike sounds great. Great video.

Great ride. I just took my 390 Adventure to Olallie Lake and back from SW Portland this last weekend. Maybe we could meet up sometime, I get the impression our riding styles are pretty similar. I usually ride with a buddy on a DRZ or if I'm doing all-pavement my brother in law has a Street Triple 675.

Great video! I noticed you have a Garmin Zumo XT. Can you tell me what adaptor you used to install your Zomo onto your KTM 390 adventure? Thanks

      Hey thanks!
The mount is actually a factory KTM accessory, it's in KTM's power parts catalog, I want to say it was around $60 or so (USD). That attaches to the QD plate that comes with the Garmin and wires into the bike battery. It's pretty sturdy and works well.

Great Ride, I just purchased the same bike. Ive been to three dealers looking for the bark busters and all three dealers told me they can't find any that fit my stock bars. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also what are your mirrors and do they stay clear or vibrate to much LOL. OK last one PEGS?????? Thanks and ride safe!

Nice! Congrats on the new bike!
Okay, first, I used the SW Motech handguards, they are specific to the 390 and they work awesome.
Second, the mirrors are Double Take's Adventure model. They vibe a little at highway speed, but I can see well enough.
Foot Pegs, Black Dog Cycle Works. They are leveling and very large. They are also pretty expensive for pegs, but are totally worth it, probably my favorite aftermarket piece on the bike.
      Thanks!

I bought a set off eBay. I think Amazon also had a set when I bought mine.
eBay has a bunch of great accessories for the 390. I bought oversized footpegs, oversized brake pedal, KTM hand guards, an oversized windscreen, etc

Recently got myself a 390 Adventure. I'm in the midwest. How do you find your routes? I'd love to take a trip like this but back roads are all paved. Also, what is your GPS and GPS mount?

    • @FreeTimeAdventures
      @FreeTimeAdventures  8 месяцев назад +1

      Congrats!
Honestly, I just jack around on Google, saving coordinates until I can string together some cool route bits.
The GPS is a Garmin Zumo XT and the mount is actually just a KTM factory accessory I got at the dealer.

I've been researching GPS units and the Zumo XT or XT2 is a good choice if you do mostly street riding. The Tread is the same case and similar but slightly different software more focused for off road trails, exploring, and races. Like dual sport tires, the Zumo are 70/30 and the Tread is more 30/70 focused.
