Always interesting seeing how they pioneered these effects back in the day, Gives us much more appreciation on how things have gotten easier, cheaper and safer

100%. I think it also helps us find what's missing from some modern techniques that aren't landing all the way.

Suspended disbelieve that's why am superman scene is more convincing than modern productions, despite it being less realistic.
The modern scenes are more oriented on the real world, but we know that nobody can run this fast, so it does not work despite more realism.

The whole moving wall and arm prop punching through the windshield is absolutely brilliant. Well done practical effects like this always work so well. The key is "well done".

The Superman effects have aged well - they never really looked as convincing as they could have done, but the LIGHTING on the actors helped the illusion... although not convinced, I appreciated the work they put in NOT to break the feel of the movie. I didn't know about the windscreen punch in Terminator...

Saw all the flicks mentioned here (INCLUDING gremlins, and temple) in the theater at the time of release except Terminator and the modern stuff. That was definitely a good year for movies. But I am dating myself

IDK if anyone noticed this before, but Justin looks just like Joseph Seed from Far Cry 5, man!
    BTW, amazing video as always.

I like this series, but in the case of the Superman, can you show a side-view /diagram of where exactly the parts are in the light path? It's hard to follow a verbal description and external views of the physical rig, as we don't know what is what. Even a hand-drawn diagram is more clear than this. A picture=1000 words.

3:32 sorry I’m being that guy. Reeve, Reeve, Reeve Reeve, NOT Reeves. I don’t know why people call him Reeves but it’s Christopher Reeve - OK- rant over…on with the show. Enjoying your video.

I thought the Shape of Water was SO bad, it made me mad! Del Toro way to overrated as a director.
