If you ask me what i love most on Julian, is that he plays the guitar in the most natural way, he plays it like i drink water every morning, and every time i listen to him its like every time i smell the flowers of my garden, so peaceful and natural. Thank you for your music...
Definitely. This album has already made me believe that Julian Lage is the best thing right now for jazz guitarist. Not only is he extremely technical, he is melodically innovative.
yup - there is a kind of carefree "free-spirit" in his approach - but tied to effortless mastery of his instrument. he truly sings his parts. He is ... something' else!
lol.. he almost outfrisells Frisell.. love it! Beautiful phrasing, dancy legatos, tripping over, running, swaying, stumbling about, but always returns home wiser for it!.. really enjoy this!
Absolutely incredible. I can feel the pure joy from these guys. Julian is insane, I found him the first time playing with Martin Taylor, i thought, what a cool new kid. Little did I know that he's up there with the great jazz guys, and he's so humble and down to earth. I mean he's got his own voice and such maturity, rooted but modern and inventive, his original compositions are beautiful. That Tele is singing!!! Thank you for your music Julian!
What a joy! Must admit, was not too familiar with JL but, was fortunate enough to have been invited to see these Cats (Masters) at Carnegie Hall yesterday... What great talents ..You now have a new fan..!
This is what a dream looks and sounds like. How could the pure joy displayed in the music and the eyes of those musicians be something of this material world?! I think I've found what I live for...
Julian, with the bass and drums, take the listener away on a little trip. Cool guitar playing. Nice Tele, Have the same model, but newer version. Julian you are the man!
i know an a chord, i can change my own strings , i know what a hammer on is and also a pull off but i would like to know what the kid with the button down shirt and the retro tele are doing
hard to bag this guy. I DO know that he's doing things with a tele that no one has done before. The other guys, Ted Greene, Danny Gatton, Mike Stern, also do/did extraterrestrial kind of stuff, along with Ed Bickert (my favorite telemaster.) This man, though, is completely different. Here he is playing that tele, but he also plays a custom archtop by Linda Manzer, and a Collings signature OM model. He sounds terrific on all of them and defies categorization.
@@freddymclain Nah, man. He's not doing what others haven't done. Jim Hall, Bill Frisell, Danny Gatton, Scofield...if you listen, its all in there and he knows it and he pays homage to these giants. What this cat does is what every good player has done before him--he puts it together in a way that expresses that what this man feels, at that time, in these times. There is no need to fetishize him as absolutely unique.
Wow. Everything about this is amazing, but the dynamics are the definition of perfection. Goose bump through the entire thing. Well done Julian and band.
When you’re this good I guess guitar pedals only make you sound bad. I don’t know any other guitar play that exposes himself. He doesn’t hide behind anything.
I’ve just seen the current trio perform in Madrid, Spain... probably the best music related “thing” I’ve ever been exposed to. Totally out of this world. I expected a lot from watching this videos, what I received was a once in a lifetime (or less) event. The people in the public I spoken to agreed, we had no words...
They are sooooo freaking good! Julian is a constant inspiration! One only thing I think is a little annoying.... the tele volume when he plays quietly... especially on long sustained notes... you can barely hear the other instruments. Maybe its my ipad that sucks😀
tone rolled down. amp set hot at the edge of breakup, so there's natural compression and he uses technique to play the guitar with a light touch vs beating heavily on a guitar with the amp turned down which produces a thinner sound.

If I could tickle wood the way he does

Light Tracker #1 and I think the same is true for Mr wollesen and drums
yup - there is a kind of carefree "free-spirit" in his approach - but tied to effortless mastery of his instrument. he truly sings his parts. He is ... something' else!
Light Tracker, true & I also admire his range. He can play in virtually all the genres of music when he wants to.
Julian Lage is a musician's musician.
lol.. he almost outfrisells Frisell.. love it! Beautiful phrasing, dancy legatos, tripping over, running, swaying, stumbling about, but always returns home wiser for it!.. really enjoy this!
The bend at 2:54 really got me. Something so simple can have such a big impact.

Dominic Heuw ,, good call, rooted but modern
Listening to this makes me feel like I'm lying on the softest mattress wrapped in a blanket just warm enough while gazing at mountains from my window
best trio in the world right now. masters!
how wonderful that contrabass sounds.
Julian is a guitarist who doesn't play guitar...he's beyond guitar!
His tone in this video is insane
Yeah can we talk about that for a minute? How does he get that sound out of a tele???
Sean Marshall his 54 tele is very dark and his tweed is also quite dark, thats what makes his tele tone so gritty! delicious :)
I love this tune! He’s moving in his own direction.
Heavenly music. You three are doing what you were sent here to do
God I'm so excited for this record.
What a joy! Must admit, was not too familiar with JL but, was fortunate enough to have been invited to see these Cats (Masters) at Carnegie Hall yesterday... What great talents ..You now have a new fan..!
Scott Colley nailed this!
That tone - perfect for that room, perfect for my ears. Just wow!
This is what a dream looks and sounds like. How could the pure joy displayed in the music and the eyes of those musicians be something of this material world?! I think I've found what I live for...
That Tele in his hands is pure magic. What a very very beautiful piece
an innovation to the modern day music scene!
Who are the 20 people that seem not to like this? It's majestic! 11/28 Julian comes to DC and I am so down for that!
None of your business who the 20 people that “seem not to like this” are. Why would you want to know that?
Excelente VIRTUOSO Gracias Julian , Catalonia lliure💕💕❤️
Amazing trio , bass player is incredible
Tuning mid-song.... boss move
Julian, with the bass and drums, take the listener away on a little trip.

I know where you come from man, what he is doing is making all of us look bad, while being very enthusiastically happy and consent about it :D

Check out Jim Campilongo.
He does fucking magic man, pure, raw and elegant magic

So awesome. Can someone tell me what amp Julian is using in this video?

3:47 steel guitar bend for the Nashville Cats! 👍
When you’re this good I guess guitar pedals only make you sound bad. I don’t know any other guitar play that exposes himself. He doesn’t hide behind anything.
Love your work man!
I’ve just seen the current trio perform in Madrid, Spain... probably the best music related “thing” I’ve ever been exposed to.
Totally out of this world. I expected a lot from watching this videos, what I received was a once in a lifetime (or less) event.
The people in the public I spoken to agreed, we had no words...
is that song in G ?
Out of this world!
They are sooooo freaking good! Julian is a constant inspiration! One only thing I think is a little annoying.... the tele volume when he plays quietly... especially on long sustained notes... you can barely hear the other instruments. Maybe its my ipad that sucks😀
julian can you play rock?
Is he doing vibrato with his pinky? My God.
Que booo, que ets joan, Catalonia free, llibertat presos politics,💕💕❤️
This band sounds like the next backing musicians for Norah Jones.
Is that standard tuning?
Yes that is standard tuning.
What venue was this recorded in?
The Station Inn.
Why am I reminded of Norah Jones? Something about this sound.
Abe Lincoln is really good at guitar
Adam Levine to its finest....no wait.
Not at all comparable.
This is so good it makes me angry...
why is his tele sounds so fat with single coil pu?
tone rolled down. amp set hot at the edge of breakup, so there's natural compression and he uses technique to play the guitar with a light touch vs beating heavily on a guitar with the amp turned down which produces a thinner sound.
Sounds himself as influenced by Bill Frissell?
How he can play so much sexy?? )))
