I've stayed at The Peninsula, Shanghai twice now, and -- for my money -- it's the best metropolitan hotel anywhere. Be sure to book a Deluxe River Room expressly for the view!. Just amazing! All of the Pudong skyline is glimmering outside above the river. There's no better bet on the Bund!
The great main floor dining room is spectacular for any meal. But the breakfast buffet is beyond beyond! The sense of style and grace in that tall-ceilinged room is fantastic!

How about waldorf astoria shanghai on the bund? Travelers voted that hotel as the best one in Shanghai.
