@@sapkaligezegen93 Do you know the actor Christian Bale (who plays Moses here) ? Did you know he played Batman in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy ? hence the joke...
In Prince of Egypt, Moses was played by Val Kilmer.
In this movie, he was played by Christian Bale.
I wonder if in the next Exodus movie, he will be played by Ben Affleck.

That part of Middle East was not populated by Arabs at the time. They only migrated from the Arabian Peninsula around 600 AD. Moses might as well have been white.

This is a watered down version of the most epic true and historical biblical story ever.

I can't believe most of the comments are about whether ancient Egyptians were white, black or brown skinned.
nfcoard Yeah when in reality they were from china ie ''YELLOW" .
***** Black cat you mean. I think the Egyptians were probably brown skinned like Jesus. But I really don't care much about race. It's far less important than humans think it is.
nfcoard Half the comments are about people complaining about how the comments are about whether ancient Egyptians were white, black or browm
Johnnyws lol. Yeah cause they just wanted to know if people thought the movie was good or not and they searched in vain!
Linnipinne01 I think we already have at least one movie that follows the bible story properly so it's no big deal. I don't think they movie producers claimed that it follows the bible story accurately. Good to hear that you liked it. Perhaps I'll give it a try. The special effects look good at the very least.
1:11 "YES!"
Great movie. Ridley Scott's movies are always cinematic epics. A lot of people have criticized this movie about its biblical inaccuracies, but you don't get your history from movies. I think Christian Bale's depiction of Moses was much more accurate to the Bible than Charlton Heston's version, but that is just my take on it.
If you think this movie is biblically accurate then you need to read the Bible.
@@Kaden_Smith242the bible is inaccurate
Everyone was Black in those times... the entire movie is a LIE😂😂😂ESAU
I also like Ridley Scott movies
I don't mind a few liberties, but when the director openly states that he thinks God is childish and that Moses was schitzophrenic it certainly implies a lack of respect on his part to those he received the source material from.
I'd be much more stoked if they cast aside all the supernatural stuff and depicted the story in a realistic manner.
There is not supernatural stuff to speak of. This is realistic!
It would be pretty much boring if it was realisitc lol; this is a myth afterall so run with it :P
regardless of whether you believe in the story or not, the plagues and God are part of it.
***** there are also some UFOs down there. i did my research.
i would rather have the truth. God sent His plagues upon Egypt. not some force of nature, but Gods hand did it. it wouldn't make sense any other way.
Ancient Egyptians were indeed black. it's very well documented. however due to the migration of romans and arabs from the middle east through generations, modern Egyptians are black and arab or a mix of both. and thats why some of the most exotic looking people are egyptian, because they contain both black and arab ancestry. hence the sandy colored skin and uniquely colored eyes for some. The arab aspect of Egypt was due to migration, where-areas black Egyptians had always been there. just as european ancestors migrated to america which was already occupied by native americans.
No they weren't. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fayum_mummy_portraits
Microscope Adventure Yes they were en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertiti_Bust
"The work is believed to have been crafted in 1345 BC by the sculptor Thutmose." Those portraits are from the 1st century. Nefertiti ruled in the New Kingdom, hundreds of years before those portraits.
and your point is?
That explains why Egyptians rode around in gold plated chariots with gigantic rims, sagging their robes doing spear and arrow drive byes on Canaanites and smoking Nile delta blunts, gnome-sain?
I lived in Egypt for 10 years. You are an idiot my friend. The only Black people are refugees from Sudan. The darkest Egyptians would not pass as Black anywhere on this Earth.
Very well documented? Last I checked, scientists agree in unanimous consensus that the Egyptians of today are the same Egyptians have existed all through time. Genealogy tests have confirmed this so there's nothing left to argue about.

This was a spectacle. I enjoyed the scale, and the sense of grandness. I love the way Ridley Scott makes things so much more complex and Dark than they need to be. The only thing missing was a massive battle in the parted sea. The trailer tricked me on that one, but the movie was still very impressive.
there was actually no battle in the sea, so adding that would have made the movie even more inaccurate than it already is.

I am Egyptian and this film looks awesome. I love it how they depict the Egyptians in a realistic manner. Don't succumb to black thievery!
If you are Egyptian then you have failed your people. Christian Bale as Moses, and other Caucasians as the Egyptians, is basically "white thievery" (as per your own racist ignorant phrasing). Semites of the 4th millennia BC would certainly NOT have been Caucasian, or even Caucasian mixed. This is not Egypt after the Greek conquest, so the Pharaohs would not be of the Greek Ptolemaic line. The Egyptians of the Exodus era were Hamitic descendants, just like the Cushites, Midianites, and other people of that region. But anyhow, Ridley Scott is an atheist and, thus, he doesn't care about realism because it's all fictional to him.
desedez88 get a life
EgyptianKhedive
I'm Egyptian (Coptic) and I think saying that we are "pure Caucasian" is so exaggerated. We have black ancestry too man.Pure? no. Mixed? yes.
thebrainina
It depends. In Luxor and Aswan, people aren't even ethnically Egyptian, but Nubian. People around Qena and Al Minya are mixed. Some more than others. People from northern Delta and the Mediterranean coast (like me) are pure Egyptian and have pure Coptic blood (muslims AND christian). There is minimal foreign ancestry in us. That's why we have lighter skin than the mixed southerners.
EgyptianKhedive
Both my parents are Coptic from Al-Minya. But seriously dude, how do you know you for sure you are not mixed? There were Nubians that existed along the Mediterranean coast. You might be mixed but the Caucasian element is just more dominant. The phenotype(skin color) alone is not always a accurate predictor for the genotype. Even some American whites blonde hair blue eyes people have some Sub-Saharan African genes.

Matt914 It’s an interpretation to showcase a more militarised reason for God’s plan to free the Jews. Moses was a general. He wanted a general.
The movie in the 50s is way better than all of them.
If Jews were enslaved in Egypt, learned the craft of building pyramids and sculptures like the sphynx etc. why did they not build one for moses or david or solomon when they reached the promise land? Where in the middle east did Arabs or Semitics communicate in hieroglyphs or practice polytheism? Why would their God allow a structure built to false gods to stand 4000 years later, but not Solomon's temple?
Actually the Hebrew slaves didn't build the pyramids. That was actually done by the Egyptians themselves who did that and did it willingly because it was considered an honor to be building a tomb for the person they considered a god.
777crusader No. The pyramids were build by the Nephilim.
1st of all 777crusader is absolutely correct. The hebrews made bricks, etc. The pyramids are made of stone. AND they wouldn't have made their own because the pyramids are pagan symbols!
sothca20001 I meant structures, buildings ect. not pyramids specifically.

I can't believe that's your one complaint. Ben Kingsley (the old guy convincing Moses to lead) isn't white and it looks like a lot of the actors on the Pharaoh's side aren't either. You do realize that in ancient times people did move around quite a bit right? Egypt is at the top of Africa near the Middle East (which is why Egypt becomes involved in their affairs in modern times) so white people could easily have been in Egypt and have come from the Mediterranean region.
Um by you're vocabulary I take it you are not white.

Moses mother, Jochebed, secretly hid him when the Pharaoh ordered all newborn Hebrew boys to be killed in order to reduce the population of the Israelites. People in the comments are so ignorant, and I'm starting to think modern day Egyptians are delusional. This all stems from the unfortunate idea that all black people look the same. Yes, Egyptians now definitely look more caucasian due to migration and changes over time. But there's no denying Ancient Egyptians had a large variety of appearances. They weren't all black. but they also weren't all olive skinned. You can see this in their own artwork and in writings. Nubians are a group of people in ancient egypt that are often depicted and they are consistently described as being extremely dark in complexion. Ancient Egypt spanned over many generations and their artwork depicts them as looking more black or more semitic closer to the first century and depending on the dynasty of the time. But there's no mistaking that none of them were European looking in the slightest. Even Cleopatra, while not black was Greek of the ptolemy group. Greeks were also not white by todays standards. Greeks admired blond hair and blue eyes which were rare features among their people and they depicted their gods as having these features, but they actually didn't look like that and any historian will tell you that. All reconstructions and sculptures of Nefertiti show her to look what like what would considered to be black in America today. I would compare her features to somalians or the model Iman, definitely not a European looking woman in the slightest. The truth is that middle eastern/egyptian people love to seperate themselves from blacks but there's a very fine line between the races in some regions and at the end of the day they weren't treated much better by Europeans. You are all inhabitants of the same continent and the truth is that some mixing happened over time because intersectionality often exists in race. You can be white hispanic, or black hispanic but if you're light skinned and you're from mexico it doesn't make you european. We see this intersectionality a lot in places like Brazil and the West Indies, where we have people who look Indian but are very much mixed with blacks and the West Africans slaves that were bought over by colonizers at the time. Even if we keep all the race things aside, this movie is still a mess since it's a biblical story. Moses's wife was described in the Bible as being a very dark woman, so much so that Miriam did not like her. For that God cursed her with leprosy and Moses had to pray for her forgiveness. So, it's not only historically innacurate but it also whitewashes the story it's based on. I mean honestly, Christian Bale as Moses? He's English. He does not have origins anywhere near Africa and he is not olive in complexion in the slightest. Same goes for pretty much for the rest of this cast. It's entirely made up of british and european people. You wouldn't make a movie about medieval europe with an all middle eastern cast so why would you do this with a movie about Ancient Egypt and the hebrew population. See Prince of Egypt for a better depiction. That film shows the range of black and browm people that would have been a more accurate depiction.
Glisean Kmt hated Asiatics. They were the #1 enemy so when Arabs talk about being to originators of Kmt then how do they explain the hatred of Asiatics?
Glisean most of your post is good, but you are being petty and obviously do not understand film casting. You complain about Bale as Moses and that is petty. It's like when some Mexicans complained about a Spanish actgor, Oscar Jaenada, as the Mexican actor/comedian Cantinflas (Around the World in 80 Days), they were being petty. And now I suppose some petty Iranians are now complaining about Gael Garcia Bernal playing an Iranian journalist!!!
John Molina It is not that difficult to cast people of color. Ridley and so many other simply just don't care enough to do it. And one film we could dismiss, but this has been the trend with so many films that it's literally getting ridiculous.
***** What does it mean then?
Glisean ''The truth is that middle eastern/egyptian people love to seperate themselves from blacks '''
Well its clearly the opposites.
Nubians and upper Egyptians were extremely close and always depicted themselve almost the same. Both groups share the naqada predynastic culture, both group considered themselve originated from the land of punt. Both groups have the same god entities. Both are from the same Nile river.
The hyksos who invaded lower Egypt from the middle east were called ''Foreign rulers'' And were expelled from Egypt wit the help of nubians. When I say nubians in this case I'm talking about Lower nubia(Aswan Region in moderne day)
Upper Nubia is more the land of Kush but are still nubians. The line between those cousins groups.Upper Nubia(Kush), Lower Nubia(Medjay) always part of Egypt, Upper Egypt(Where ancient and midlle kingdom are from nubia) and Lower Egypt who got conquered by people from the south but also share the same cultures.
My next question is simple.Wwhat is the skin color of black people?? that goes from dark brown/Black to light beige.
This is the type of skin color that represent people all long the Nile from Ethiopia to lower Egypt and lack people in general.
Ancient Egyptians clearly separate themselves from the asian(Middle eastern) people. I'm pretty sure you know

You're welcome :)
Auzzie Artyst finely thanks so much wanted to know, I might of found a coldplay song I like
I am going to be so happy when they start to represent Biblical characters as they were. People are mad about Black Annie, about the Black storm trooper in Star Wars but not about the inaccuracies in Biblical movies placed in Africa. Let's face it the English European Whites weren't there. Even Greeks weren't there. And although you may hate it even the Arabians were not there in the bountiful numbers they are today. For those of you who say blacks should not be in fairy tales made from Europe, I say Whites should not be in nonfiction epics based in Africa. And before the storm of idiot replies I expect to receive telling me that Egypt wasn't Black let me quote past Greek historians who were in Egypt after the year BC.
"Herodotus states in a few passages that the Egyptians were black/dark. According to most translations, Herodotus states that a Greek oracle was known to be from Egypt because she was "black", that the natives of the Nile region are "black with heat", and that Egyptians were "black skinned with woolly hair". Lucian observes an Egyptian boy and notices that he is not merely black, but has thick lips. Diodorus Siculus mentioned that the Aethiopians considered the Egyptians a colony. Appollodorus, a Greek, calls Egypt the country of the black footed ones."
These historians ought to know they were there and not the so called people who want to change history just to feel superior.
Coco Carmel Hey, Cuckoo Carmel, Herodotus also wrote about Atlantis, SOW WHERE IS IT??? What's more, descriptions are often relative as Ben Franklin described German immigrants as "swarthy"!!! Can you believe THAT??? Franklin must have been one pink dude! Just go see the movie and enjoy it! i just saw it and it's worth seeing.
Lagunita and Tamchen were Mayan cities once thought to be fable till archaeologists found them. Helike of Greece, Troy, and Machu Pichu are other examples of cities once thought to be fable and now proven to exist. So again joker John your point is null.
Coco Carmel Caca Caramel, you KNOW of course, you were there! Right? LOL LOL LOL Now, go read a good world history book and stop YouTubing. Maybe you'lll learn something.
John Molina It is not I who is hardened to learning it is use. It appears you read history books but only those that cater to your belief and that makes you ignorant, not well rounded. Maybe if you did your research what I have written would not seem so foreign. But don't bother. Bathed in your ignorance and stay away from the rest of civilization. We can do without you.
Coco Carmel so tell me, CACA CARAMEL, what "history" books will keep me from being ignorant and make me a brilliant intellectual like you??? I know far more about modern history than I do about ancient history, but the good historian, KNOWS to be objective. He tells us what happened and lets the chips fall where they may. You want the chips to fall into your pat prefabricated ideological timeline.
It’s fall 2014 and you’re hyped for this, Pokémon ORAS and The Hobbit along with other fall/winter 2014 movies
There is one God who told Moses to lead his children out of Egypt
Ridley Scott never fails :) I don't look at this as a religious movie and there is too much controversy over wrong issues. Although the story is still vague and mysterious to archeologists and historians it is a great material for a movie. The portrayal of characters and brotherly love that turns into a deadly duel is staggering in this story.
Moses got a more humane touch here. Most people imagine him as a ruthless avenger and a barbaric brute. The Ramses character is of the greatest interest to me. He seems quite sane and likeable as an unexperienced young leader only to lose his mind and turn into a dictator when he loses his grasp over the empire. In many ways this movie is a masterpiece.
Wouldn’t go so far as to call it a masterpiece. The casting could’ve been way better. A lot of the main characters were played by caucasians which takes away from the immersion
@@carterjmd 1:08 is that a threat. Now I heard him because at first I thought Ramses was saying: Distract them😂😂😂😂
I imagine Moses as humble, meek and amazing. Gentle. I don’t know anyone who imagines him as you suggest. He is most gentle, loving and strong. Read a book once in a while and find out for yourself about people. You might get to know them in actuality rather than via rumors and speculation.
@@reniaesaddler8632 The entire story of Moses is a speculation and rumor, a myth. Thus you should read and think for yourself before you recommend it to me...
@@AmerginMacEccit You sound like an anti-Semite denying Jewish recorded history like that and making it into something you call speculative myth, as if there is no such thing as truth and respect for things that don’t belong to you and thing you clearly know nothing whatsoever about because instead of read for yourself, you respond that I should read what I have already read and researched extensively.
You’re committing intellectual dishonesty by calling something a speculation and myth when you have no evidence of that and haven’t done the work to back up your own claims. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I hope that the movie is as good as the trailer. I was worried that they would change around a lot of things and make up new stuff. I'm pleased that they are following the traditional story line as well as taking notes from "The Ten Commandments". That movie is a classic!
God was with moses with us too in almighty jesus name amen
Also he should have his staff ..but it was replaced with a sword ...classic wins anytime
to all the white people saying "its just for entertainment or who cares?" i guess they can make a movie of George Washington and make him black...why not?...it just for entertainment right?
krazy kaikai. They weren't black though. They look closer to Arabs/Middle Easterners, who actually do inhabit Egypt and most of North Africa today.
+Aamir Khalifa thats like saying the Americans of today look like the Americans of america before the Europeans got there. smh
the real Egyptians are southern Egyptians and they are dark skin. they are arabic but they are black arabics.
Raheem DeSilva Even in their ancient paintings, they depict themselves as a light to medium brown color. So, how would they be completely black? I agree, however, that they might have been very mixed.
Aamir Khalifa come on, dude. im brown skin and theres many people darker than me. if i draw myself next to someone from sudan my color will stand out a lot. im lighter than most Africans. im sure Africans see each other in different hues, im sure,
Raheem DeSilva Perhaps. But either way its speculation, so theres no point to debating it. Too bad we can never know for sure.
Prince of Egypt, Moses is voiced by Val Kilmer, who played Batman.
Moses is played by Christian Bale, who also played Batman.
Name of the song from the beginning?
Perfect Smart the Best Official Trailer I like it - EXODUS™ - GODS and KINGS™ -(20th Century FOX) Special Thank's for RUclips👍👍👍😀😆💜🎧🎵🚘🚌
Everyone seems to know the definition of the old stories that brought these people into our life...but do people know the definition of a movie? The opinions and racism in the comments are sad. I don't think God cares about your RUclips comment hahahal. Its a movie for entertainment, made for historical interpretation. Go watch a documentary if you want facts and all that jazz. Just have fun in your lives peeps.

Christians need to calm down, hes not supporting your bible or intentionally dishonoring it, hes just trying to make a good movie..its an adaptation of a bible story, a bible story that is itself totally historically inaccurate.
Because we totally have accurate histories from the time period. (But I agree with your general point).
Tell me what Christians need to 'calm down" and why?
Tell me when you read the biblical account.
Tell me what your research was that determined the bible story was " itself totally historically inaccurate."
Clayton Poenisch LOL! You've never heard of meteors falling? And we have to have personally witnessed every sort of disaster for them to exist? I've never seen a volcano erupt, or a tsunami or an earthquake. Does that means it has never happened or never will happen? Please.
I like how you start with a "middle of the road" statement like Scott is not supporting or denying the Bible and then immediately choose a side for yourself. Kind of puts a stain on your first statement of neither/or.
Jamie Severson Sorry, I can't figure out who's responding to whom. huggsboson made some statements and claims. I then asked them three questions regarding that. I have yet to see any response from them.
Alternative trailer of AC:Origins looks lit
yes especially that this movie took 100 years after ac origins
Epic immortalized by time movie...😍
Anyone who expects this movie to be accurate is a damned fool.
"Accurate" to what, exactly? It's all fiction.
***** maybe accurate to the bible, no matter is fictional or not
***** To the bible, obviously.
Don't waste ur time arguing with Aaron. He is a blind atheist, and a troll kinda sorta.
snakeboy1912 I'm a troll because I comment a lot and make statements that you can't refute. Gotcha.
Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Ben Kingsley, Aaron Paul, and Ben Mendelsohn all in one movie? That's a first rate cast if I ever saw one. So exited!
The Batman, carmine falcone , the mandarin and director krennic all in one movie
The Ten Commandments(1956) was waaaaaaaay better. But I have to ask this movie, "Why so serious?"
"What’s missing in “Exodus” is religious fervor, any sense that the story is not merely interesting history, but something momentous, wonderful and glorious. Perhaps Scott just didn’t feel it and, unlike DeMille, felt no obligation to fake it. He should have, a little." Mick LaSalle review Nailed it!
Actually I find it insulting that they have Europeans playing Africans. The Bible is a black history book.
@@paysour1 They were all white at that time, blacks weren't in North Africa
@@TacticalProjectGaming That's like saying white people weren't in Europe. The Bible is a black history book. The one you called Jesus was a deep dark skin black man. It's all been whitewashed to make it all more palatable to satisfy white supremacy.
@@paysour1 lmao this is so false. He wasn't black . He was middle eastern. Possibly dark. The Chosen tv show has a good portrayal
@@markdin2988 @Mark Din The British started calling that region the Middle East because it was halfway to the far East. Middle East is not an ethnic group it's a geographic designation,. Great effort was made to detach Egypt and Israel from Africa and describe it as the Middle East.
For most of you Christians it will not be a problem but you need to come to the realization that the Messiah was not named Jesus and he was a dark-skinned negro.
It has been a dedicated effort to hide the fact that the Bible is a black history book. You are confusing what you see today in the Middle East to what it was during the biblical era. The people in the state of Florida now are not the same people that were there 600 years ago. You go to Florida now you see people from all over the world. 600 years ago you might only see Seminole Indian children playing on the beach.
The same thing happened in what you call the Middle East. The holy land is in Africa. Israel is on the African Continental shelf.
The Jews in Israel now are not the biblical Hebrews. They are Europeans that converted to Judaism in 740 AD. Led by King Bulan the people of the Khazarian Kingdom converted to Judaism. Their Kingdom thrived between the Caspian and Black Sea. They have no genetic, archaeological, or historical connection to the biblical Hebrews. They just adopted the religion.
When General Titus destroyed Jerusalem the biblical Hebrews fled into West and South Africa. Other than the ones who were brought to the Western hemisphere as slaves you can find them living in Africa to this day.
You say the Messiah was probably dark. I say he was black like an Ethiopian. Actually Ethiopia is the only country in that region that has not had a change in demographics. The borders of Ethiopia were much further north during the biblical era.
There was no physical difference between the Biblical Hebrews, the Egyptians, and the Ethiopians. You could physically tell them apart only by their clothing and jewelry.
Pharaoh thought Moses was his grandson. He had no idea he was a Hebrew. The Pharaohs during Moses time were deep dark Negroes.
The Bible tells us the Shepherd girls at the well that Moses defended return home early that day and their father wanted to know how it is they came home so soon. They said an Egyptian helped us not a Jew or Hebrew. His language or even his sandals would have them think he was Egyptian.
Moses married an Ethiopian woman. King Solomon and Queen Sheba had a son who became the first Emperor of Ethiopia.
I hear a lot of you suggesting that the Hebrews were Olive colored. The only olives that I know of are red, black, and green. Red and green don't qualify as a skin color so we're only left with dark black.
Remember the Psalms of Solomon. I am dark and lovely. Dark as the tents of Kadar. The tents of Kadar are still black.
I understand your confusion because I was 20 years old before I realized the Egyptians were black. Every representation of them in American Media they were always represented as white people.
Pope Alexander the 6th commissioned a new portrait of the Messiah. Using his son Cesare Borgia as the new image of Christ. As America became more and more racist the Messiah started to look more and more Swedish.
Due to war and mass migration the demographics of Egypt and Israel have changed from the biblical era. Ethiopia is the only country able to stand against outside Invaders. Even Alexander the Great back down from the great Queen Candace and her mighty Ethiopian warriors armed with steel blades and fearless elephants.
The Bible had to be whitewashed in order to make it more palatable for Europeans. At the same time Europeans were exploiting African people and they could not claim themselves as Superior while worshiping a black God.
Fortunately, even the Vatican has acknowledged the whitewashing of the Messiah. You'll find in the Popes private chapel a deep dark black image of Miriam and the holy child. Black Madonna's are all over Europe and Russia but you won't find one in America.

Im actually really excited to see this film. Regardless whether I have faith or not I think there is no denying this is going to be a spectacle to see and visually stunning. It looks epic and I cannot wait to eventually see it :-)

@@Kareem.El.Tohamy Respectfully, He actually did. Read the Gospel of John for reference. It's there, in His own words.
Things the movie got wrong that I can tell by the trailer:
1. The waters are supposed to part, not disappear.
2. Moses was raised with the Pharaoh as his grandfather, not brother.
3. Moses' birth mom kept in touch w/ Moses' adopted mom (Pharaoh's daughter), who made sure Moses would be brought up knowing that he is a Jew.
4. It was 210 years of slavery, not 400. 400 was the amount of years the Jews were away from the Promised Land, from when they left due to famine to when they finally returned after the long journey.
5. Moses did not get into any sword fights, if I can recall.
6. Again, the Jews did not draw their swords against the Egyptians.
7. Also, they seem to portray Moses as a powerful warrior, which he was not. He was actually a peaceful man.
he was a criple as well, he walked with a limp as it says in the quran. But he did kill an egyptian that was fighting with a man of his following (turned out to be his brother)
If there's ANY truth to the Moses tale, the waters would disappear, due to a tsunami, which also serves to explain every other detail of this story.
YOur comment is stupid, first at all that history never happend, knucklehead
masajhn Whether it did or not is something I won't get into, because I don't want to cause another unnecessary religious debate. However, to go this far from the source material is just annoying.
