The lines repeating “are we out of the woods yet” is symbolic for the anxious thoughts she had / someone experiences that keep looping. She said so in an interview:)
The necklace she tore off was a paper (not made of paper) airplane, Harry Styles had a paper airplane necklace, and she had one too when they were dating. This song is about them, the 20 stitches in the hospital, Harry had an accident (snowmobile from what I heard). The dress is the one Taylor wears at the beginning of the LWYMMD MV.
And the wolves are supposed to be the paparazzi chasing "them"/her, I think . . . 😉

I never noticed, wow, also I don't think too many people notice at the beginning that the vines coming out of the sand said Out of The Woods.
@@Violet316 Yeah that always is weird to me cuz I saw that clearly the first watch, just like the closeup of Taylor's right wrist when she's trapped in the vines, HS is written vertically (if you watch closely after the closeup of her eye & right before she falls out of the vines, you'll catch it) or the golden "invisible string" from Willow is barely visible on the floor at the beginning of Bejeweled (and I said from when Midnights came out that something was up with her & Joe) & with the new context of Joe it's interesting that you barely see the invincible string, then Taylor kneels right on top of it to scrub the floors🤨 Methinks some extra Easter Eggs are afoot....
So many people miss or at least don't mention how at the beginning of the video, the vines on the beach spell "Out of The Woods"
The first time watching this, that was what I noticed and was like whoa look lol I replayed it for my boyfriend like 4 times for him to read it lol
Did you guys notice how when the trees grew on the beach...they formed the words: Out Of The Woods. I love this music video, it's kinda simple but so effective (especially how she goes into the forest as one person and comes out as another, how she grew from the experience). It's my #4 song by Taylor and her live performance at the 2016 Grammys is amazing. She cried & told Selena Gomez she missed a note.....i mean did any of us notice???!!!
Spot on dude, her and Harry S always had paps chasing them, Kendell J kept trying to hook up with him when she was out of town working, etc etc... That's why it feels like chaos when u listen to the song, it doesn't get the credit it deserves

This song is about the anxiety and back and forth relationship she had with Harry Styles. The constant wondering if they were "okay" or "Out of the Woods". Also cool note, the zombie in "Look What You Made Me Do" is her from this music video.

This isn't just one of my favorite Taylor songs, this is one of my favorite songs of all time period. Her live performance of this song during 1989 is still one of my favorite concert experiences of my life.

My favorite from 1989. Thank you for reviewing this one. It should have been a hot 100 #1.
Fun Fact: Question…? from Midnights is the sequel to OOTW. It is written in the same key with a little faster tempo, and she samples this song. Would love to see you react to Question…?, which is my fave from Midnights, even before I understood its connection to OOTW. My subconscious mind must have made the correlation before I consciously did. I must also like this musical key. I seem to be drawn to mysterious, slightly foreboding melodies.
The challenges depicted were the struggles she faced when she was moving on from Harry Styles. Despite of the extreme heat, cold, burning, drowning, and the danger of the wolves, she was able to stand up in the end and get out of the woods she and Harry Style built.
My point of view of her song and MV is, she was like isolated into a relationship that both of them weren't clear, if where gonna be their relationship heading to. While she was in relationships she experience different feelings and situations, those visual like wolves as her anxiety that hunt her everytime. Those snow, fire, drought, mud, and ocean is like the emotion and situation they experience while they were in relationships. And the last part like she was lost because of her failed relationship but in the end it helps her to find herself and love herself more.
