I agree - Tim's mentioned it a bunch of times in other videos, enough to make me have a look at who was behind it - didn't take long to find that Tim's US manager was behind it, should really have been clear on his link to it from the get-go.
i think it really depends. it's not like they're taking money from you like all of the other sponsors, like if you signed up for a subscription service and the promter gets a cut without disclosing an ad, thats shady. but they're not doing anything malicious so I don't see the issue

Saying “should t have bought the car “ is silly. You can apply that logic to anything. All of it silly. This register isn’t something that sits well with me.
The thing I find very annoying about Exclusive Car Registry is the paywall behind their information. Generally you have to be a gold member to actually know which chassis or VIN you are looking at or to see certain photos of each car. For a company dedicated to documentation and information access they do a very bad job at disclosing information for each car.
We removed the Gold Member system a few months ago because we also agreed that wasn't right. You can now earn reputation points in your area of expertise to reach that Specialty badge and be the expert in the niche.
Reputation is hard to build up is my only worry I love the concept and have been a part of ecr for a long time but now the Reputation system is a bit hard to build up for general enthusiasts
My only gripe was that most of the new update was behind the sign in wall, and you had to make an account, and I couldn’t even sign in, now that I can it’s good

As with all new videos, we tend to set one video title and then change it up a few times over the first day or two; in fact you'll see the same on most big channels now as it's the way you have to do it within the algorithms etc

So i can definitely say i have been waiting on this for 5 years. I remember back in 2019 when Shmee said he had other projects going on and he would be in the US more. I always wondered what they were and well we are here today and we get to officially see what it is.
While I don't see myself contributing much, I do view it to be a valuable resource as somebody who one day aspires to buy a supercar with a certain spec in-mind. This type of database would be of great assistance in figuring out the quantity of said spec in the market.

I am not a car thief but if I owned I hypercar I wouldn't want people to track my cars location and post it online. I am a huge fan of the channel and actually love this idea but do worry how owners would feel about there cars being posted online without implicit or explicit consent.
So Tim, in short terms, you basically can say you sort of adapted the autogespot idea from back in the day but extending it to collectos, individuals, etc. In the end just making sure there's a chance for enthusiats to see what these cars are about, specially for individuals who will never have the chance to see one in person.

Such databases should preserve the integrity of assets and will impact their value both positively and negatively. No doubt some ECR fields can be used as part of a vehicle check via an API so ECR could earn a small commission.
For the transparency of history, if you were looking to buy that car that had been in a ditch and it was being sold as accident free, wouldn't you want to know what had happened? The insurance claim would have involved a settlement for diminution of value too.

Dear Shmee, I want to give you the news myself. It shocked me that you have the keys of the garage 3 years allready. So many years that Im following your channel now is a reminder how old Im getting. So to not being remembered again ill have to remove the channel and feel myself in the 30's again. Thank you for years and years of great content, an unknown friend youve become.

More than a decade ago,Tim was 1 of some supercars spotters RUclipsrs whom he make it to today success and not many famous RUclipsrs will even reply to your DMs be it is he himself or his co worker, very appropriate of it, another RUclipsr whom replied my message was Manny whom his car collection is many car lovers dream! He already owned a Bugatti Hermes Edition Chiron, Hermes edition Huayra, McLaren P1, Veyrons,many SLRs & many more others in his garage... moreover he ordered the Mercedes AMG One, Valkyrie Spyder, Bugatti Bolilde, McLaren Solus GT, Koenigsegg Jesko(not sure which variant he opt for), while he sold away also a few hyper cars like the McLaren Senna, 918 Spyder if i am not wrong, Koenigsegg Agera RS(Phoenix). His collection is one my most favorite cars in the garage! While Tim also making his dream comes true from his first car, now an engine being scrapped in his garage for memories purposes. He is one of the most cars fanatic with his knowledge of many cars, whether the specs, the heritage, the different variants and he always speaks in his videos without stop talking about the specs, the specific models without a script and doing crazy things like travelling around the world with his cars touring around which isnt easy at all,not just with money, with many efforts, passions. Impressed and happy to see what he has come to be and what he had achieved, owns and still going on every day with at least 1 video uploaded.👍💪❤️ Hope you will make it to Singapore one day with any of the Shmee mobiles

If random people take a picture of me doing those things, and attackers know that car is mine, this makes easier for attakers to know where i get bread, and where i go golfing. Potentially making my life less secure!!! Thats why im saying its a privacy attack. Plus you lose freedom of going into places you dont want to be photographed at.

Here is a suggestion - Make the site registration work in Microsoft Edge, the browser installed on millions of PCs. I had to use Chrome to get it to work.

Signed up (eventually) yesterday. Was a bit of a clunky process as it took 2-3 attempts to get validation messages etc. Had to keep refreshing or closing and reopening the browser and logging in again to complete the process! Then found out that to upload you need to have a cars VIN or chassis number. I have thousands of images from events some dating back to the 90’s but I guess I won’t be adding them because of these upload requirements. Will see how it goes
Idk why so many people are hating. This looks amazing and while it has similarities to other websites, it’ll have its own contributions and community that makes a huge difference in the user experience. I think people expected something insane that the industry had never seen and the only reason their reactions were negative is because they set their expectations so high for this project. I had ECR for a few months. I’ve been using it quite a lot every time i’ve seen a rare car. Its quite useful of keeping track of what i’ve seen.

WHats insane is that I startet a profile over 2 years ago and thought it would fit you channel very well. Never thought you were the guy behind it. Its actually the best car registry to date. (Sorry Ed) You get everything on one site. Little sad that you showed screen share of one car I uploaded (David Lee's 812 Comp Aperta) and it was the only car you didn't show the uploader :/

I think this ecr thing is quite a privacy attack to hypercar owners, if i had a hypercar i would opt out of this... i wouldnt want to be tracked
How does it violate privacy? Very strange comment. Thankfully there is no way to opt out...
All it does is register different cars. It doesn’t allow anyone to track you.
@@MB-io9nc bro imagine you own a porsche carrera gt, and you go golfing then go buy breads and back home every day. If random people take a picture of me doing those things, and attackers know that car is mine, this makes easier for attakers to know where i get bread, and where i go golfing. Potentially making my life less secure!!!
Thats why im saying its a privacy attack.
Plus you lose freedom of going into places you dont want to be photographed at.

Here is a suggestion - Make the site registration work in Microsoft Edge, the browser installed on millions of PCs. I had to use Chrome to get it to work.

Signed up (eventually) yesterday. Was a bit of a clunky process as it took 2-3 attempts to get validation messages etc. Had to keep refreshing or closing and reopening the browser and logging in again to complete the process! Then found out that to upload you need to have a cars VIN or chassis number. I have thousands of images from events some dating back to the 90’s but I guess I won’t be adding them because of these upload requirements. Will see how it goes

Idk why so many people are hating. This looks amazing and while it has similarities to other websites, it’ll have its own contributions and community that makes a huge difference in the user experience. I think people expected something insane that the industry had never seen and the only reason their reactions were negative is because they set their expectations so high for this project. I think it looks great so good luck Tim!
