Call me when they make a 10TB model, so i can fit all my p...games.
Not soon, the transistors can't get much smaller.
If you and 10 friends are able to all part with a kidney you can easily afford an ssd that expensive
The OS benefits more than games. Didn't these guys actually do a video about this...? Map loading times weren't noticeable between PCI-E and SATA controllers. Windows boot times and video rendering will though! 😉
i know that it's just for bragging rights, i mean i have a 10TB HDD, sound to old, jk.
lol
step 1: wait until at least 2018
step 2: check if NAND chips supply has got back with high volumes
step 3: watch SSD prices fall like they should
step 4: buy NVME SSD
step 5: profit $$$
if prices don't fall then... this is what you should do:
step 1: start a class action lawsuit against chip makers that are engaging in price fixing
step 2: cash in the lawsuit money that we surely have won
step 3: watch SSD prices fall like they should
step 4: buy NVME SSD
step 5: profit $$$
Alberto Manzi lol
How can one profit with this idea . The second Law Suit idea seems more profitable
It´s a joke m8 ayy lmao, u profit by saving a hundred bucks :D
its called saving $100 not profiting bro
You did not mention PCIe exapnsion cards for NVMe for older machines? Were there known boot issues or the like for the reason you steered clear?
I've got an Intel 600p 128GB on an MSI M7 Z270, it's only as fast as my SATA 3 SSD according to Crystal Disk Mark
There prices have come down a lot now you can most of these for around 100$ for 1 tb
Omg really in our country its nearly 100 dollars for 500 gb
@@karunab3072 here in the philippines as well.

Thank you for the tips. Also great timing on this video as I am planning on buying one of those tomorrow!!
I have the Intel 600 series NVMe as the primary drive of my PC. Couldn't be more happy with it.
bilalha123 that would hurt a lot.
I have the 512 GB varient of the Smaung 960 Pro and I am extremely happy
because when I'm transferring files and stuff, it just leaves me teared
at how fast it transfers; however, I am struggling with the 512 GB of
storage because of games like DOOM with all the DLC, just clogging up my
storage!
TheGamingFireUltra 960 pro 2tb version if you can
Charsept same and I have same model 256GB.
TheGamingFireUltra get a 3TB hdd like me. I use my 600p 256GB for my windows 10 installation and for power hungry software such as editing software or Photoshop or for rendering software and ones that need special permissions.

Thanks for a good comprehensive overview of the available nvme drives. How long before you think NVME will become the standard for all computers? Can't wait to get one of those for my rig
RIP NCIX 💔
Great video NCIX Tech! Thank you! I have a question:
I have a Intel 660p 1TB and a Samsung 970 Evo 1TB
Which one should I use for my OS and which one for 4k video editing?
Can I use the Intel 660p 1TB
to put my 4k Media and Projects and edit 4k with Premiere Pro ?
My PC:
i9 9900k
32GB Ram DDR4
Asus Dual RTX 2080 8GB
Motherboard: Asrock Z390 phantom gaming 4
"Whats new?, Whats fast?, Whats trending?" this truly made me LOL. I was not expecting the quick transition
I got a question, so if i connect it to my motherboard with the dedicated m.2 slot will i get the same speed as if I did the adapter thing to connect it to a PCIe lane?
I have a Dell 7560 (i7) which comes with Adata M.2 SSD. So it has an M.2 slot. I want to know if all or any SSD you discussed (EVO, Black, Intel or ADATA) are compatible with this system or the slot. And is there any way to find out?
Thanks!
I have a Samsung mz-cpa1280/0a5 and mj-jpv128r/0a2 I am looking for enclosures but I can't find any for them. I can't figure out if they are NVME or something else. Can you please help me?
You've said it in more than one video but NVME is not an interface, it's a protocol. Then you can use that protocol through different interfaces: M.2, U.2, PCI-E...
Do I need this when building a PC?
ive recently bought the samsung 960 pro nvme m.2 ssd and i want to transfer my data from the c drive to the m.2 ssd is this possible ?
I have an HP 800 G2 with Ddr4 ram. It has no m.2 slot but does ave the PCie white 4x slot. Can I use an adapter such as the Antec to install one of these NVMe's? Thanks
so wait, if i install m2 ssd and have hdd, should i install my windows on the ssd m2? and will it have the same performance like faster boot just like regular ssd sata?
I have been looking recently, and I notice that motherboards do not advertise NVMe support
Is this something I am overlooking, or is it a given if it has the M.2 slots, that it would support NVMe?
Is it possible for me to put an extra m.2 SSD and use both the m.2 ssd's for c drive in my alienware 15 r3??
Greetings, first of all your videos have good punch lines:)
Now, I opened my laptop a few days back, and to my surprise there is an M.2 SSD slot, which Asus has not.listed on specifications.
Anyway, I saw it on RUclips that Asus x501ua only supports M.2 sata interface. So does that mean NVME will not work, or not work at its full glory? Also, is M.2 SATA worth the upgrade too?
I have an intel i3 seventh gen with a clock speed of 2.4 ghz. Will an SSD have an impact on performance?
Would be glad to receive a reply.
Thanks!
Great video! What a coincidence I was looking into this!!!
What's a good M.2 SSD for an OS/boot drive for an Asus X99 Deluxe II ? What is everyone having the best results with ?
Great to see the price drop just within a few years that's great!
Great video! Just a question, if someone could help me. I am a litte bit confused between physical conections and protocols. If a buy a M.2 SSD, I also should check if it is NVMe-capable and uses the PCI-e bandwidth? Could a NVMe-SSD also use the SATA-protocol? In order to have the most I can have from the NVMe Standard, MUST I buy two NVMe-SSDs and put them in RAID 0, or will ONE NVMe-SSD be enough?
so I have a system where I'm using HDD drive and everything installed over here. If I add a m.2 ssd what I have to do to make my system fast? because the OS installed on the HDD. I was thinking about cloning my system but it's already have over two terabytes. how can I clone my system to a 256 gigabyte SSD? where I have more than 2 terabytes of data. my last option is to install fresh os on m.2 back my data wipe out my HDD and install everything!!!! is there any smarter solution?
Tip for people wanting an NVMe SSD but don't want to pay enthusiast pricing - Bulk Client SSDs
These are the OEM drives sold to Laptop manufacturers and can often be as fast or faster at a lower price.
A couple of good ones to look for are Samsung's PM and SM line, PM are a little slower but much cheaper than either the SM or 960 Evo drives, and SM are a little more expensive but still less than the 960 Evo drives and are almost as fast.
PM961 - 2800 read/1600 write - £175 on eBay
SM961 - 3200 read/1700 write - £199 on eBay
960 Evo - 3200 read/1900 write - £238 on Amazon
If I used a Thunderbolt cable from my computer (Alienware17 R4) to an external spinning HDD with a USB 3.0 connector to it, will I experience any change in speed?
Hi there, recently I made a mistake that I formatted 2TB external HDD accidentally instead of a 4GB USB drive. Do you have any known program or method to prevent formatting of my local drives or some important drives that always connected to my computer? I tried to find out this answer but I couldn't. If you know about it, could you explain some? Thanks.
Unfortunately I don't have a m.2 slot. What about these adapters that allow you to plug the drive into a PCI slot or a PCIEX4 slot? Do you suffer a compromise in speed? Or are there other disadvantages to trying an adapter?
ok so i have a 256 gb m.2 ssd AND a 1tb hdd. how can I upgrade my ssd (which all of my start up stuff is on, and came with the computer) and move it to and from the hdd hdd without a problem
hello ncix, i have a samsung 960 pro ssd m2 nvme 1tb and my windows 10 64bit boot in 30secondes its normal ?
my motherboard is Asus x99 strix gaming
thanks
Which SSD type and brand would you recommend for an Alienware 17 R4 laptop?
Can you put the m.2 samsung 960 evo in 2200 size? I cnt find it anywhere
that NVME m.2 ssds are so expensive that i need a lot of money if i want it
also is intel m.2 ssd does work in ryzen CPUs?
I have an ASUS H97 PLUS motherboard and this model is incredibly vague over which NVME makes and models are officially supported. Where could I aquire the necessary information?
Where is the graph that has them all in one view with data?
I have a question, if I buy 960EVO 256gb and try to install windows in it, my ssd and my HD will be different driver storages? Or I can mix them ? To be only in driver C ? Or it’s best to left them separated?
right got a msi z270 sli and it says its only compatible with a 960 evo to a capacity of 250. what does this mean if i put a 1tb in cause how does capacity of the ssd matter
Thanks ALOT! needed this info all in one video..
Question : can the pm981a (OEM version of Samsung 970 Evo Plus) be used on desktop?will it reduce performance over time or cause system failure over time?
How do I know if a certain drive is compatible with my board? Isn't m.2 just m.2?
WIll a SSD last indefinitely if written only once and stored somewhere as backup? Or it will decay in time and eventually fail ?
Great info for an NVMe noob, like me. Much appreciated.
Hi! Which SSD M.2 is best for Lenovo ideapad 110s? Samsung, Toshiba, Intel, WD, SiliconPower, Micron?
do all motherboards have it? I have an LGA1150 MB and I dont think I have an NVME slot...
say if you run nvidia GPUs in SLI with a mainstream i7 (16 PCIE Lanes), are you able to run M.2 NVME SSDs? How about two of these SSDs?
Cruel doubt:
SSD Intel 660P Series 512 Gb or HP EX900 500gb?
Which one to buy?
Okay i need some advice. I just bought a 512gb samsung pm951 m.2 ssd for my laptop which currently has 128gb m.2 ssd. I need to clone the 128gb ssd to the new one. So i planned on having the new one plug in to my computer through a usb adaptor. But they only make adapters that are b key and my ssd is an m key. So how can i clone my current drive to the new one without being able to have both plugged in at the same time? Im only 17 and i dont know a ton about computers so a step by step approach would be very much appreciated!
Any opinions on getting a 250 GB 960 Evo or a 512 GB 960 Pro ( Still deciding ) for the boot drive and a 1TB 850 pro for everything else
Hello, i have an HP pavilion gaming ak001nq laptop, is the Samsung 960 EVO SSD compatible ?
so what's the best 120GB NVME SSD (price/performance?)
western digital sn 500 vs adata xpg s11 pro someone? I already know the specifications, but I can't find any specific test, I don't know if it makes up for the price difference in practice.
Do you guys have benchmarks for these for different tasks ? ex. gaming, video editing, start-up, etc.
Can I clone/migrate a regular SSD OS and all unto a NVME M.2?
will the samsung's nvme ssd run on alienware 15r2. I saw that due to firmware issues samsung nvme ssd's do not run on 15r2...Is that true or what?
which is better the Samsung 960 evo vs Adata xpg and which one is compatible with my Lenovo y520 legion. Mind helping a Guy out :
please help me How could I know my laptop support M.2 Gen3X4 or Gen3X2?
What m.2 should I get for gaming? I need around 500gb’s of storage. Any suggestions
?
speed doesn't matter for gaming on NVMe or SSD so if your going for m.2 get a Crucial CT1000P1 its cheap for around £100
I just purchased the XPS 15-9550 i7 with the PCIe 512gb and I'll be using it for Photo and Video editing mainly. I won't store anything other than programs (Adobe CC and others) so do I need to upgrade to the sm960 Pro? Here are the full specs:
6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core (6M Cache, up to 3.5 GHz)
16GB DDR4-2133MHz
512GB PCIe Solid State Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M with 2GB GDDR5
15.6" 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) Infinity Edge touch
Any info on this greatly appreciated..
So the maximum a sataIII can transfer is 6g per second?
I have a Samsung 256GB Samsung NVME M.2, but for some reason it's a lot slower than my older Samsung Sata SSD and I can't put my OS on it. My Z170 motherboard even supports the M.2 speed, but it's like it's not utilizing it. Anyone know what I should do? I've looked in forums everywhere and updated my drivers, but nothing works
Hey guys , nice video but i have a quick question .... will any of those NVME drives work with the 2013 Mac Pro ( Flower Pot Edition / Trashcan ) ??
can anyone help me. i bought a gaming laptop and im new to PC Gaming. im looking for and M.2 PCIe NVMe drive for my OS. i would like quick boot times and transfer speeds. it already has a 1TB hard drive for the games storage. does anyone have any recommendations. oh and i only want like 128gb or next size up. any help would be great. thanks
I want to put the 960 evo in an external enclosure to sub 3.1 and put it with my xbox one x!! Is that possible
Do I need one or two for a Gigabyte Z370 motherboard?
Any tips for M.2 42 SSD? All of the SSDs mentioned in this video are 80mm
Does anyone know which SSD is compatible with the Dell XPS 15 9550?
You recommended the slowest nvme drive available based on it's specs?
So in 2019, I am ready to go nvme for first time. I have a asus rog laptop with i5 gtx 1070 8gb and 16gb dual channel ram. Laptop came with a crucial 256gb Sata m.2 and 1tb firecuda sshd now trying to decide. I am not a Power user much, do play some gta 5 etc but not a lot. What nvme m.2 would you all recommend, I don't want to break the bank, thinking 500gb. Been really thinking of getting the new HP EX950. I tend to keep my computers for 5+ years. I can get the 500gb 970 Evo and hp ex950 for simular price.
Any one knows if iMac 2017 comes with M.2 slot?
what about a Mac version, none of the ones you spoke of work with mac? what gives? do they need heat sinks?
What I'm looking for is performance while gaming, with No bottlenecks, buffering, delays, lagging, stutters, etc... (Ok, some of those, maybe all mean the same thing, Bite Me :-D).
I'm thinking of building a gaming computer and while researching for components I heard about the Optane drive, The result being; even if I had a mother board with two M.2 slots, linking an Optane drive (OS not or is installed) to a M.2 drive (OS is or not installed) would provide only a marginal performance improvement, if any, correct?
How does using an adapter to install an M.2 device into an Apple device affect performance?
im looking for an nvme ssd around 100-150. has anybody an idea what to choose?!
dont u need to check if the nvme module code is compatible with the motherboard?
What about OPAL or other encryption certifications? and is erasing an SSD the same as an HDD
Pre-notification squad, still waiting for a notification
Which is the best one to buy between samsung and WD? it would be a huge help
Next on RGB lineup NVME SSD !!
After 10+ years of Mac I'm back for PC sanity. TY for getting back up to speed - fellow OG
Is this support for mother board Asrock A320m HDV ?
Anyine recommend cheaper for 128 gig m.2 for asus b350 plus
With latest drivers, CrystalDiskMark showed 3264 MB/sec, sequential reads on my 500 GB 960 EVO....
Can anyone tell me if my 960 EVO M.2 was worth it. Because in all tests my 850 EVO with RAPID gets sometimes 4 up to 10 times faster speeds in benchmarks. No matter how the result has been gotten, in combination with my memory. The end-result is only important... both 500GB
Can't really tell the difference here yet and the M.2 960 was a lot more expensive.
It's 2018 now. Time to update.
Also, I wonder if you can cover the concerns of Power Loss & the need for Data Loss Protection?
Naw...😴
Any video that compares a sata ssd boot up to a NVMe boot up?
Hey there great comparison especially the CDn dllars. But i noticed the 960 evo was 3200/1900 which was almost 2x as fast the average of the rest of the bunch. I dont see my self spend almost 700 on one of these for 1TB but what are the 960 evo 250 mb prices and are they just as fast?
if so wouldnt they be the best bang for the buck providing a 250 is 1/4 or 1/3 the price of a 1 TB?
I just checked ncix and 960 evo 256 mb is 169, that is same price as other drives about yet 2x as fast?
WTF bro?
1:18 SSD were mainstream from 2007?
I just built a Ryzen 1600 system with a 250GB 960 Evo for boot. Holy crap that thing is amazing!
Got my wd black coming in from cyber moonday! Nice to know the writes are above the sata limit.
One thing you do not mention, what about can they boot on this new ssd ?
I have seen on youtube that not all ssd is driver for boot !?
but maybe that was in the past ?
I've recently bought the Samsung 960 pro NVMe m.2 and it currently has windows 10 installed and works fine. I'm currently using Samsung 850 evo as my main system I want to transfer all of my data from the c drive (850 evo) to the new ssd 960 pro NVMe m.2 without reinstalling everything is it possible without losing data?
Antoine Hussenot yes! , use Samsung data migration software available on the Samsung web page! ..... you do not need to reinstall windows...... make sure you have enough space in the new ssd and the UI is very simple even kids can use it!
don't forget to select the proper target drive and change the boot location from bios
I need a 2260 for my maximus 7 formula any recomendation
Awesome video reviews ! I got a Dell 7550 and only get 1k read and 1k write how do I increase those speeds
I have an SSD from an old laptop that is the exact same size as the one in my new laptop. They both run windows 10. Would there be any side effects if I straight up replace the drive in my new laptop with the drive from my old laptop? Would the entire computer have the same digital contents as my old laptop?
No it wouldn't.
just upgraded to kaby lake so this will come in handy when I purchase my 1st nvme.
can i put a m.2 ssd in a wwan slot?
