Hats off to The Strokes. A cool ass band that caught a break and were supposed to the "Nirvana" of the 2000's, in terms of popularizing a different sound of rock for the new decade. They had so much pressure put on them by the media. Most thought they never lived up to expectations. They've remained, and with the assistance of one Rick Rubin, record a gem of an album, get a Grammy, and win a new generation over.
They kind of did succeed. Ever listened to indie music in the last decade or two? It’s all sounds very much like the strokes. Didn’t translate into sales. That’s for sure.

@@BurlapAndPlywood that’s awesome, what r some of ur fave songs? I like you’re so right, games, welcome to japan, countless others
@@MarcellusTorres life is simple in the moonlight, why are sundays so depressing,Hawaii, and what ever happened
I remember when I was younger, my parents would always play the angles cd and I loved it. it’s a lil funny when my friends ask me if i know who they are because I’ve been listening to them since I was like 5 lmao
Oh same here, got into them when I was pre-teen 12 yr old boy. Now I’m a 24 yr young man, still rocking out with these hombres.
3:02 Onward. Goosebumps
Breathtaking, I love these guys.
If anybody likes that “i see much of the same” line, listen to No One There by Exhibition. Featuring Julian of course
Yeah but it sounds sooo much nicer here
@@CCardinalchris it did hit different during this performance
julian's ability to improvise the most ethereal vocal melody on the go will never seize to impress me
Can"t stop listen to the strokes. Greatest band ever 👍👍👍
Thank you for pulling this out of your google drive. I love this video, mistakes and all.
So great to see them enjoying themselves.
This is one of the great vocal performances of all time...
Love the dedication to 2010 fashion
Best SNL musical performance of the year in my opinion. They command the stage. Those guitars, that beat and that voice. I'd put them up there with the great American bands.
Lmfao
I freaking love this performance so much. I listen to it every day.
Same
One of the best performances I've seen...damn they still sound so fucking amazing!!!
Fantastic vocals! Love it when artists perform without lip syncing.
The epilogue they added to this live performance is 👌
4:27 " I see much of the same ", comes up in another one of Julian's songs called " No one there " - by Exhibition!
Why isnt nobody talking abt Nick playing 2 instrument during the live? Ang his solo with Albert was the best
lmao Julian starting the guitar duel 💀 he is such a goober, love these guys
Fight references “no struggle no progress” the previous line it’s political
4:11 wish this was on the studio version
edit: i think he says -
(idk) i wanted (idk) on my own
listen to my story and ill want it all alone
angel, i see much of the same
i see much of the same
fight
Could you transcribe what lyrics he's singing here? It sounds beautiful but I can't quite figure out what he's saying :(
@@jackrimson i have no clue if this is accurate:
(idk) i wanted (idk) on my own
listen to my story and ill want it all alone
angel, i see much of the same
i see much of the same
fight
Such a wonderful song and performance. These guys are always reinventing themselves. Genuine talented artists.
They were amazing!!! Julian’s vocals are the best I’ve heard in a while. He looks so healthy too! Love this! ❤️🙌
"I see much of the same"
It's from the song 'no one there' by exhibition where Julian sings the backing vocals

Each of the band members is a savant and each shows off something advanced in this performance.
*my body float* float when i listen to that last additional part by julian
Extraordinary performance. Also - That is serious voice control. Julian’s voice was great and now it’s tremendous!
What an icon. The love I have for this band and Julians perfect vocals is unmatched.
This is one of the best songs ever
i remember watching this live on tv years ago and feeling like ive never felt before. it was genuinely transcendental for me. who knows how many years later, they're my fav band. oh happy day!
Ya los extraba The strokes. He crecido con ustedes.
2:00
Julian's awkward swishy hand motions.. im dead
Then there's nick playfully pushing a leg out at albert and albert adding in another riff just to get the last word😭 these children i stg i love them so much
so happy to see these boys back. it's been a good minute
Outro lyrics:
When the left and right argue every hour,
Special interests win unelected power.
Fight.
Stockholders, power is for sale, power is for sale.
No struggle, no progress.
I don't, I don't want it fighting on my own,
Listen to my story and I wanted it all along.
Angel, I see much of the same, I see much of the same.
Fight.
Brilliant interplay between the guitars and also bass
What a performance, simple pure honest genius rock n roll x That voice!!!
Only 4 months to see you guys!!! Can't fucking wait you guys are the best!!!!!!!!
These guys are gonna be huge
I love this quitar dialogue in many of Strokes songs, but especially in this one
3:00 that is one of the best Vocal performances I’ve ever heard. It sounds like it has different lyrics than the studio version as well, it sounds like he is saying “but I don’t want anything, unless you do. I don’t want anyone, unless you do.”
I'm hearing "I don't want anything unless there's you, I don't want anyone unless it's you"
@@bryanc6700 I’m hearing that too now
Seen them 3 times live always awesome never give up please ❤
Beautiful, beautiful and talented !!
