The curing step is KEY to a proper soap making process. This was one aspect our local soap maker made clear to us early on so we could make sure we were offering the best soap products! In fact the longer the cure, the better the product and less likely it is to be used up too quickly or be too soft as you mentioned. Great video as always Dan! 🙏
I used them once. I always believe that if you're going to say something not nice about a prod9or service, be positive and it will lead you to find something positive. Don't just plow through... I used them once. I liked the smell. Cost was higher than usual, so was the quality. But after watching this I realized, yeas, the soap didn't last as long as I'd hope it to. I didn't buy one again. As usual, THANK YOU for your unbiased, honest, informative videos. 🙏🏻 Da LOUD THINKER 😜😉
I love this company & their soaps. I’ve never had an issue with a bricc being too soft. Their scents last on my skin most of the day (I think using unscented body oil helps achieve that result), and taking cold showers preserves the longevity of my soaps. A tips for those using washcloths - use the cloth to exfoliate your skin 1st, then lather your body, then rinse. Lathering the washcloth will wear down your soap faster than sugar dissolving in a cup of coffee.
Man, I have been waiting for this video since I started watching your channel almost two years ago. I used squatch exclusively for two years, solid, and I had a good experience with their soap. I had trouble with their subscription service pretty much every time I ever had a subscription fill, though. I can't count the times I've had the wrong soap delivered to me, or incomplete orders. Normally, that would drive me away from a company, but I've stayed with them this entire time, because they made things right 100% of the time. The short comings they have in order fulfillment they make up for 100 fold with absolutely amazing customer service. About three or four months ago, after watching your review of it, I started using honest amish's beard and body, and I use it 6 days a week now for my body, and alternate day to day between honest Amish and whiskey and hardtack's solid beard wash bar. I use squatch only on days that I'm stripping my beard and body biome of the oils and bacteria that build up throughout the week, and I still love it. Their scents are great. Pine tar, grapefruit ipa, and spearmint basil are my favorites. The scents don't last long on the bar, for spme reason, though, so by the time I'm halfway through a bar, I can't smell it anymore. The only downside I ever found with the soap is that it's really drying, so when I was using it ever day I was constantly having to moisturize. I don't have to do that with using honest Amish every day, so I switched. Their marketing is really the only thing I dislike about the company. I know that's what draws most me to it, but I'm just not a fan of the kind of advertising that makes you feel like less of a man if you don't use their soap. I have the same problem with live bearded, and their "soyboy" comments, and all that. I think I commented the same thing on your video about them, and mentioned squatch then. Lol. Their soap is good, and if there is ever a problem, they will do pretty much anything short of throwing it in their car and driving it to you, personally. You can't go wrong with it, man. Thanks for the video. I've been waiting for you to do it for a long time, now.
I've used Dr. Squatch soaps for about 6 months now and I'd 100% agree with the longevity issue. It's super inconsistent between bars and scents which ones will last and which ones won't. I've had bars that even seem to disintegrate over night long after the showers were complete. I have loved it as a first "not using floral body wash", and it also has sparked my interest in natural soaps. So overall it was a win for me, but for the cost I'd expect it to last longer than a week.
Grandpa Soap Co. is my favorite and the best I have found. Their Pine Tar Soap and Conditioner have completely fixed a dandruff issue I have had the last few years when nothing else worked. My hair and scalp have never looked or felt better. As for my beard, it has been wonderful and has replaced my beard wash.
i tied about bars from them and every one of them dried my skin out badly. I did not have a beard at the time so never tried it like that. Great Vid again DanC..Stay Bearded and stay Positive
A solid, fair and informative review Dan. My wife and I have made our own soaps for years. I was impressed but not surprised at your knowledge of the curing process involved. One of our favorites soaps is an oatmeal vanilla soaps. I have not tried Dr. Squatch but may grab a bar sometime to so fun to try it out. I did just order a bar from Weathered beard Supply along with my order (needed to get over the $50 mark for free shipping).
I been with the company over a year using Dr squatch. I would say this… they are best I have used and I don’t try a lot of things but I’m starting too. What kept me is they have sent me some duds before that don’t smell at all or seem like they are expired. When I talked to their customer service. They immediately didn’t question my problems and sent me another batch. So I believe if they keep that kinda customer services they keep me plain and simple. Cause I don’t mind mistakes as long as they can be fixed. Love the channel man. I’m a newly growing beard guy. I always had one but I’m actually growing it past my usual. Using Beard octane for first times and I think they are my go to.
This actually explains a lot. My wife bought me a bar a couple of years ago it only lasted about 2 weeks, and the scent was gone before I got out of the shower. Mine not being cured explains why my results were so different than the majority of reviews. Because of that I never had any interest in trying any other type just because of the cost per month. Now that I know what to look for I might buy some from these beard companies. Many have some interesting scents.
Just got a 50% discount and ordered some right before watching this video. I've been looking for a stripping soap for a while and saw this as an opportunity. So I'm glad to hear that they are not just down right bad. I am optimistic. Thank you so much. Everytime I am curious about something or looking for solutions, your videos always have the answer.
I have never tried tried Dr.Squatch but have always been curious about their soaps. The best all natural soap is Whiskey n Hardtack. Since Whiskey n Hardtack went out of business there soaps oils and butters are missed by practically everyone with a beard. Now onto the hunt for the a company that makes all natural soap that is as good and on the same level as Whiskey n Hardtack's soap which will practically be near impossible to find.
@@DanCBearded I am holding onto my last oil and butter of commands corner for a while. I am savoring it. I don’t know how I’ll get over it once it’s all gone 😟
I would suggest Professor Fuzzworthy. It is a superior option to DS. It is more expensive but not by that much. I tried DS once, and once was all it took. I know you have a video that speaks on the importance of small batch soaps, and I can say from experience I agree. There are just better options that are not a lot more expensive.
I am actually testing theirs right now, and will have a review soon. I do have some issues with the product though. I will be sure to explain thoroughly
@Dan C Bearded.I will say I'm not unwilling to change as far as for my beard stripper. As a body soap and shampoo, I am very happy with PF. Since I started watching your videos, my routine has been built around your advice. The products I order have been those you recommend. I very much look forward to your review. I think I will back off using it on my beard until then. I know your channel is 💯 % about beards. But I will say, as a body soap and head shampoo, it has been amazing. I have dry, very sensitive skin, and it has helped tremendously with that. I also have dandruff issues, and it has helped with that as well.
Oh for sure! To give a spoiler, I don’t think the product is bad at all, but it’s a straight up soap. Their marketing on it makes it sound more like a solid beard wash bar, or gentle/daily; and those aren’t the case. I think it is actually better suited for body and head hair.
@Dan C Bearded Cool, thank you for the spoiler. For sure, when on my beard, I use it as a stripper never a daily. I totally appreciate the sneak peek. You're the best, Dan.
So, I got my order in, and then my middle son visited, and he has experience with them. He said they come uncured. It takes 3 months upon receipt. So we put the date of three months on the box and put it in one of my bedroom closets. Then he sent me a link on etsy where a whole loaf of 7 bars of pine tar by a farm, both saving money and supporting a small business. He doesn't think that they make any other scents.
Dan what would be some bar soaps that you would recommend? Also do you have any experience with Royal Beardsmen bar soap? Ok so as for Dr. Squatch I've had 4 or 5 bars of there soap gifted to me over the past 2 or 3 years can't personally say that I've had any problems with them. After I use a bar of soap I pat it dry and set it in a tray in a drawer 1 bar will last me about a month n half or so, the few I've had has all been cured correctly
Royal beardsmen soap is fantastic! Any of these would be great: Bar Soaps: - honest Amish beard & body= amzn.to/3AyrNg4 - Weather Beard= www.weatherbeardsupply.com/ * DANC10 for 10% off - Defined Beard Co= definedbeard.ositracker.com/172367/13050 * DANC15 for 15% off - Copper Johns= bit.ly/3obqC3h * DANC15 for 15% off - Live Bearded= bit.ly/2PuPXoj * DANC10 for 10% off
I agree with it being a entry level natural soap that’s widely available. Marketing machine, absolutely they are everywhere and anywhere. Unfortunately I’ve tried 8 different bars at different times and 7 out of 8 were extremely soft.
I really wanted to like Dr Squatch. I ordered a handful during the pandemic because I had too much time on my hands and RUclips was pushing the ads. At that time, the company they were using was having some major shipping issues, multiple delays and missing/lost packages. This may have changed these days, though. The things I did not like were how much it dried out my skin and the scent never really stuck around. Smelled good in the shower, but it seemed like the scent rinsed right off. I also agree that the bars disappeared pretty quick, especially leaving them in the shower full time.
I had the exact same experience you did. Shipping, scent wearing off, and really drying, especially in the winter, when it's usually drier. Honest Amish beard and body, man. It's amazing.
Absolutely incredible video man. My hats off to you! Might have been mentioned but I cut mine in half. Each half I get 3, almost 4 weeks out of! The deodorant I Absolutely love. I find it lasts all day... all dang day! Even 12 hours later I still have the scent on me! The soap I also found the scent disappeared as quickly as I can get out of the shower. Keep up the great work
The 'Dr.'s' marketing is so compelling. Not bit. I must say I have one of two Beard Octane logo-shaped soaps, purchased, unused and ready to open. I have a tiny bit of the other one left, that I started to use many months ago. It is great for easy quick beard maintenance washing. It never went soft (though the soap feels lightweight) and lasts so well. 100+ pct satisfied. I am inclined to buy Pears for general soap-dish uses. For liquid hand soap, I like Mrs. Meyers lemon verbena.
I have Fresh Falls from Dr Squatch. Love the smell, beyond that I dislike how quickly I have to reapply to a washcloth in order to wash. Would rather use anything by Whiskey & Hard Tack or Defined Beard Co. Well have to look for someone else once my WHT supply in null and void.
I've used them for a couple years now. Some are kind of soft, like pine tar, and can wear faster than others. The soaps with some grit usually last longer.
I've never tried Dr Squatch mainly because I don't care for their commercials and such. If I'm not buying handmade soap from beard companies I use Duke Cannon. It's a good soap, good company, and they give back to military groups. But the real winner is beard company soaps!
Nailed it!! I’ve been a squatch user for I long time love it for my body no so mutter beard but it’s not the only soap I use because for it’s price it seems to go fast and now I know why! Still will buy cuz I do love it!
My beard is about the same length as your but I also shave my head. For me, Dr Squatch soap has helped eliminate unwanted oil on my face and head AND also keeping my head moisturized. I agree with your statement, it's a great natural soap but could be labeled entry level. In addition, they smell fantastic and I keep my extra bars near my gaming PC and it acts as a basic air freshener. (I also love that there are different levels of grit among the different soaps.)
I use Dr. Squatch everyday I definitely enjoy it. I have certainly had some much better natural soaps but the price on said soaps is to rich for my blood so it is more of a treat in between for a mix up. They do deplete quite quickly but it hasn't been to much problem for me. I do not like how they crumble toward the end of the bar and start falling apart and the little pieces won't stick together, I always end up throwing the last bit away cause it isn't worth the hassle. All and all I enjoy their soaps and variety of scents though and are somewhat budget friendly. As always great video Dan C thank you
I have this in my shower as we speak and I'd say this is fair. I feel like it's good quality but maybe not special and frankly not the greatest value if you don't do a big bundle + generous coupon code. But I'll prolly get some stuff again eventually.
I subscribe to squatch for the shampoo and conditioner but every once in a while the soap. I wouldn't use it on my beard especially since many beard co offer way better options. At this point if any beard co offered the head hair products and a solid selection of soap I'd go all in an drop squatch
Thanks for the content! I have been thinking about this company but now after watching this I think I might look for more of a small batch natural company for more time and love in the product and to help out the little man. Thank you on your thoughts
The Bay Rum from Dr. Squatch is probably their best smelling as far as I'm concerned. Dan's right, its a solid soap, but definitely not the best. Another place I've started using is a company called Buff City Soap. They have stores all over and a website, but the best part is that if you find a soap scent you like, they'll make it in laundry detergents, body butter, beard oil (which I've sent the ingredients to Dan) and all kinds of other stuff. Edit: Also, if you wanna smell Dr. Squatch before you buy...Walmart.
@@HaroldGodwinson24 If you like Kraken, ask them if they have nationwide access to the "local lines" recipes and look at one from called "Gone Fishing". I created 3 there that are gonna be local scents. Try 50/50 Commando/narcissist with a touch of patchouli. Or Tobacco and Bay leaf with Island nectar.
@@randiecoulter9404 Will Buff City soap last a while or does it tend to melt away kinda fast like most natural bars do? (Assuming one properly keeps the bar from sitting in water, of course.)
You mentioned that there are superior small batch soaps, can you give me some names you suggest. One I love and got from you was luxurious bastard pine tar. I also use Outlaw soaps and all their exotic scented oils.
I like them my favorite being Pine Tar my second Bay Rum. What I don't like is really the cost vs how long it actually last. I find I go through those bars rather quickly. I think my personal favorite for mens shower soap would be the Cremo line. All very masculine smells. Which ironically I do not really care for their beard line of products I just like their soap.
Solid info there Dan! Although I love the marketing I, similar to you, thought that there's no way they can live up to the hype they give themselves. Instead I tried Grandpa Pine Tar soap for using on my beard. Which seems to be great. Have you had any experience of that one?
I had the same issue with it depleting quickly. For me it was just OK, exactly like you said. I switched over to Old Whippersnapper for my pine tar and it works great!! This video reminded me that I’m due for a reset soon. Thanks Dan! 👍🏻👍🏻
Iv been using squatch for a little over a year. Iv seen a big dip in quality. When i first started it was awesome. Great scents great quality. Now iv been getting soft soap, soap with no scent or a scent change up. For example last march i got the irish cream and Whiskey and its been my all time favorite scent from them. Got pretty excited for them to drop it again this past march but was let down when i noticed the scent had completely changed. When i asked customer service they assured me it hadnt and sent me out another order but the results were the same. A complelty different scent that wasnt even close to the year before. All in all i dont hate the soap but iv discovered better companies.
My favorites would be: Bar Soaps: - honest Amish beard & body= amzn.to/3AyrNg4 - Weather Beard= www.weatherbeardsupply.com/ * DANC10 for 10% off - Defined Beard Co= definedbeard.ositracker.com/172367/13050 * DANC15 for 15% off - Copper Johns= bit.ly/3obqC3h * DANC15 for 15% off - Live Bearded= bit.ly/2PuPXoj * DANC10 for 10% off
When I started my soap Co I of course bought a few bars of these and Pacha. Longevity was the biggest con for me but a pro as well lol it taught me how important cure time was. I cure mine for 2 months. Overall I did like them but liked Pacha much more, they felt more hand made
Great video! The marketing failed with me but that doesn't mean anything. It didn't make me want to buy the product. I'll stick with Honest Amish. Easy, cheap, and scent doesn't overpower everything. Does the job well.
Have you ever tried Duke Cannon's bar soap? You reviewed their body wash in a past video but I don't think the bar soap was included. I feel like it's in a similar vein as Dr. Squatch but better in my opinion. Used many bars and the quality is consistently good. Plus the bars are huge (10oz I think) and last a long time. Still probably not the absolute best out there, but for the money it's pretty solid.
what I don't like about Dr squatch is that it's basically soap guy soap resold. do many better options for mens soaps. but they have made mens body care more popular.
Great review and video as always Dan. I have been using Dr Squatch natural deodorant for about a year and really like the product. I have never tried any of their bar soaps, because my family prefers liquid body soap for the shower and I prefer liquid soap for my beard too. I have been curious about your thoughts on their bar soap and now I know.
ooh have u tried ruddymans deodorant? just got it and started using it. so far it does the job, goes on rather smooth for a natural, and smells amazing!
Really like their soap, but I've never had a cured bar from them. They inspired me to pursue my own small batch, cold process soap making. You gotta let it cure
I used their pine tar soap on my face & beard, beside the fact that the soap crumbled in my hands & my face broke out in red bumps that made me look like a teenager going through puberty, it took me a week to get my beard to lay normal again. I'm not bashing them in any form though. For all I know it could be a reaction from an ingredient. My brother swears by their products & he has this weird skin reaction to 99% of skin care products. It obviously isn't for me, yet blood in blood out! If my little brother says they do fine by him, then I support 'em 100% I'll just continue to be that cheap bastard that uses a competitors beard "wash and tame" along with Kroger brand organic coconut oil & a heated brush. BTW! The organic oil was a complete game changer! Still love the Dr. Squatch guys though! They are definitely entertaining
I bought some Dr. Squatch recently specifically to try their pine tar soap. I love the scent and how exfoliating it is but I've tried 3 of the pine tar soap bars so far and on each of them the bar crumbled apart two thirds of the way through it, making it a pretty horrible value in my opinion. I store it on a metal wire soap rack of a shower caddy so not drying out couldn't be the issue. In future I'll be sticking to Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap.
I never had an issue with the soap crumbling. I ordered straight from them and kept it on their cedarsoap tray. My skin doesn't do too well with it. It ends up drying me out and clogging pores.
Could you maybe do a video on your top 3 recommended bar soaps? I’ve used a few bars of Squatch and they definitely seem to get used up quickly. I’ve been digging Duke Cannon because they lather up really well and last a long time. I’ve also had decent experiences with Detroit Grooming and Beard Octane bar soaps. Thanks Dan!

@@DanCBearded I appreciate it!! Funny thing, I live about 5 miles from where Honest Amish is made! I didn’t know they did soap. I’ll definitely have to check it out. Keep killing it, thanks Dan!
I’m currently using this company again for the simple fact I can pick it up at Walmart now. I can’t afford the shipping on the good stuff right now. And Fuzzworthy's on the ol beard!
I have been wondering about this for awhile now. I use Dr. Squat h and wondering if it was the best choice for me. Maybe I will start looking for something else. Someone that is still a small batch.
Quit trying to sell me stuff! Gosh! 😂 All jokes aside...I've never used Dr. Squatch but I always wanted to! But I discovered my favorite soap recently and decided that I had no interest in Dr. Squatch anymore. However that company is now shutting down (R.I.P WnH) so I'm back in the soap searching game! Should I give Dr. Squatch a try or go for another beard company's soap? Or should I wait for the company who took WnH's formula to maybe recreate those soaps I loved? Either way, great video Dan! Dr. Squatch is still on my radar!

I've got the same problem going on, man! I use wnh solid beard wash bar every other day, alternating between it and honest amish's beard and body. Idk what I'm going to do after my last bar is gone. I haven't found anything comparable. I did just order beard octane's lather conditioning wash, and I'm hoping I can put that in my cycle, but I don't know what to replace the solid bar for wnh with. 😫
@@thagingerninjer5391 for sure! they didn't buy the company, but rather just the formulas, scents, ratios, and all that. I am excited to see what they do with it!
Great review Dan. Several years ago one of my sons bought me every one of their bars of soap, every scent for Fathers day. We all loved them including my wife. Some better than others. But but they didn't last very long and I didn't like them in my beard. I agree with what you said good for stripping. I must say after hearing your review I don't see any reason to buy more of them except for liking soap that smells good. Not a good enough reason. * Receiving all of my products from Beard Octane on Sunday. 💃
Didn't care for their Pine Tar soap. Longevity was poor. I've been using a variety of Duke Cannon bars & their Old Glory bodywash. Cremo Palo Santo & Vintage Suede bodywash. I'd like to see videos about these. Just started using Beard Octane Goat Soaps, my current favorite. WNH Obsidian is in the mail!
Truth be told, the marketing is what made me get the soap. I did love the product but Beard Octane soaps are great. There are better soaps from beard companies. Which is convenient for purchases with other products.
I have a quarterly sub for them. Pretty convenient process when it comes to swapping out scents. Never really noticed how fast they run out though because by the time I was out of all six bars the new shipment was ready to be delivered. Been buying them for years now and will continue. Great video.
I am currently using their soap for the first time. It is a good soap but I prefer handmade goats milk soap myself. As for their marketing, it certainly isn't aimed at an old guy like me. lol
Looks like you have their OG soaps judging by the packaging, which didn’t last long and were definitely softer than what they are today. Currently the best body soap for men. For beard care? …meh. Don’t think they intended their soaps for that purpose.
Oh I have every version of their soap, lots of experience l from 3 years ago until today. I even have their new Star Wars pack lol I appreciate your opinion on them being the best, but that’s truly far from true. If you glance through the comments you will see lots of feedback from other consumers.
Dr Sqautch has always been a solid option for me. I have enjoyed their scents but have to agree they deplete awfully quickly. I think it’s the scaling and popularity that doesn’t allow for proper cure time. Jmo.
Even thought their marketing is fairly high quality, I don't always agree with the underlying attitude. Never tried their soaps and with so many options on the market, even at your local health food stores, I likely won't ever try their products.
great review love the insight, im a little new to having a beard so kinda picked up something that was cheap from walmart and not realising that the bottle says all natural for men of color which i have no problem with however my beard keep turning grey and its even a little off puting seeing so much grey for being only 31. i do trim it even though im trying to grow it out a little could the beard shampoo be the cause of the grey? i believe the company name it shea moisture

I like them for a body soap. I can pick it up at Walmart for 5 bucks and not have to use a slimy body wash. However, I did not care for the use in beard. Maybe it’s a mental thing, but I just didn’t care for it. I am curious to who will take the number 1 wash and soap spot since WnH retired!?
Interesting. I never really considered trying them, because as bad at this sounds, I really thought it was just a marketing company, selling soap. The ads were fun but I really wondered how much are you paying for with the soap, and how much is the marketing.
@@DanCBearded I was pleasantly surprised by that. I will probably try cold start at some point because its essential oils. Just got my Dr. Nicks and I am loving that #7 scent!

I’m a fighter and every night I get home from the gym my beard & the skin beneath it is all over the place and covered in sweat, so I take a shower and wash with soap or body wash all over, I keep hearing that washes on your beard should be minimal per week wether with soaps, cleansers etc, but when I shower after training & wanna cleanse myself of such dirt & sweat how can I approach this without over stripping & drying out my beard from healthy natural oils? How & what should I use to properly clean & get the sweat out without causing any damage whilst still keeping my beard at peak condition? Edit: this is also a more general question as to showers and face washes in general, how wash your face wether in or out of the shower (for whatever reason), when it’ll be constantly stripping of oils? E.g. I may wake up in the morning with a dirty oily smushed beard & face on many days (multiple throughout a single week), I then wash, most advice I’ve heard says this is unhealthy, is this true? Or is it varying for each different person’s experience
Super easy! I recommend washing every single day. The wash less than that is outdated because we have daily/gentle washes now. @@DanCBearded thanks a lot Dan! I noticed they have multiple different washes in their “shower products” section, I.e. body wash, face wash, etc. Those wouldn’t be the specific washes I’m looking for correct? Just the “natural beard wash”?
What about their beard oil? I've tried their soap [a few different scents] and deodorant [two different scents] and I kinda feel the same way you do; they're not horrible, but not amazing either.
Never used it for my beard but have for a body cleaning and even tried there head hair shampoo. Both dried out my skin and scalp like mad. But I do have very sensitive skin that dry s out real easy.
Another beard company has purchased the formulations from WnH and the solid beard wash bar will be the shining star of that acquisition. Hopefully something will come out soon. You know I will keep you posted!

I’ve never desired to try their products. To me their commercials come off as condescending and rely on people not knowing definitions. The one thing that always stuck with me is in one commercial their guy says most body washes are synthetic detergents and is said likes it’s a bad thing. From a chemistry standpoint a detergent is just an amphipathic substance so it has a polar end that binds with things like water and a non polar end that can bind to oils.
I would recommend any of these. 🙏
Thank you Nate!
I really think they should make and release Barber brick. Blueberry peppermint for a new limited edition bar soap
Da LOUD THINKER 😜😉
You’re welcome 🤝
I love this company & their soaps. I’ve never had an issue with a bricc being too soft. Their scents last on my skin most of the day (I think using unscented body oil helps achieve that result), and taking cold showers preserves the longevity of my soaps. A tips for those using washcloths - use the cloth to exfoliate your skin 1st, then lather your body, then rinse. Lathering the washcloth will wear down your soap faster than sugar dissolving in a cup of coffee.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a thorough and well thought out comment!
@@DanCBearded you know you can always count on me to be "thorough" (my wife calls it long-winded) when leaving comments. 😂
@@thagingerninjer5391 haha absolutely! never change
Hey Greg!! We just actually got back from a week long trip in Whitehall. Loved it!
Thank you for the feedback, it’s spot on!
Dan aaaaat it with a fire video. I use this body bar soap, thank you bruh. Been a minute since I’ve been engaged!
I appreciate it my man!
I have heard great things!
i tied about bars from them and every one of them dried my skin out badly. I did not have a beard at the time so never tried it like that. Great Vid again DanC..Stay Bearded and stay Positive
Thanks Brian! Great personal feedback
That’s awesome David! The soap making process is so satisfying
That is great customer service Brandon! Thanks for sharing
Oh absolutely!
Glad to be here to help!
So sad with WnH!
WHAT!?!? NOOOOOOOO!!!!
@@DanCBearded I am holding onto my last oil and butter of commands corner for a while. I am savoring it. I don’t know how I’ll get over it once it’s all gone 😟
Weather beards has a fire soap. Defined does as well. I’m super sad with WnH but hopefully they can still make soaps
Try Copper John’s bar soaps ✌🏼
Great education on the curing process time with bar soap. Push to market and ability to wait for the process to work can cost time and money
Especially at that scale! Good point
as always stumbling on the video i need!!! thanks for the information.. just had a bar gifted to me and now excited to try it!!!!
Oh awesome!
You’re not talking about dr squatch, right?
The order I received and was told to let cure and harden for 3 months was Dr Squatch, so it doesn't break apart in the shower. The loaf was not.

I agree with it being a entry level natural soap that’s widely available. Marketing machine, absolutely they are everywhere and anywhere. Unfortunately I’ve tried 8 different bars at different times and 7 out of 8 were extremely soft.
Thank you Daniel! And yeah, you are not alone with the softness
Great review Dan. I enjoy bar soaps and I agree they are very good at marketing this brand.
Marking kings and good (not great) soaps
I really wanted to like Dr Squatch. I ordered a handful during the pandemic because I had too much time on my hands and RUclips was pushing the ads. At that time, the company they were using was having some major shipping issues, multiple delays and missing/lost packages. This may have changed these days, though.
The things I did not like were how much it dried out my skin and the scent never really stuck around. Smelled good in the shower, but it seemed like the scent rinsed right off. I also agree that the bars disappeared pretty quick, especially leaving them in the shower full time.
Great personal feedback, thanks blake!

Keep up the great work
Oh yeah, limiting the exposure to water by cutting it is a great tactic!
I've used dr squach in the past.
One of my favorite soap company's,love that deep clean feeling.
Dident know I could use it on my beard.
Good to know
Thanks Scott!
Thanks Steven! I love those beard octane soaps!
Absolutely agreed!
I've used them for a couple years now. Some are kind of soft, like pine tar, and can wear faster than others. The soaps with some grit usually last longer.
I do like some grit!
@@DanCBearded I found the birch bar great for that
I've never tried Dr Squatch mainly because I don't care for their commercials and such.
If I'm not buying handmade soap from beard companies I use Duke Cannon. It's a good soap, good company, and they give back to military groups.
But the real winner is beard company soaps!
Great perspective!
Honesty, the best policy.
Only way to be!
Nailed it!! I’ve been a squatch user for I long time love it for my body no so mutter beard but it’s not the only soap I use because for it’s price it seems to go fast and now I know why! Still will buy cuz I do love it!
Awesome Vic!
Awesome Mike, thanks for the feedback!
As always great video Dan C thank you
Great feedback from experience, thanks Joe!
Jack Passion says he uses Grandpa's Pine Tar soap. It's good, cheaper and a lot of natural grocery stores carry it.

I have this in my shower as we speak and I'd say this is fair. I feel like it's good quality but maybe not special and frankly not the greatest value if you don't do a big bundle + generous coupon code. But I'll prolly get some stuff again eventually.
Thanks for the feedback!
I subscribe to squatch for the shampoo and conditioner but every once in a while the soap. I wouldn't use it on my beard especially since many beard co offer way better options. At this point if any beard co offered the head hair products and a solid selection of soap I'd go all in an drop squatch
Have you tried those options from Artius man?
@@DanCBearded they have head hair shampoo and conditioner?
Thanks for the content! I have been thinking about this company but now after watching this I think I might look for more of a small batch natural company for more time and love in the product and to help out the little man. Thank you on your thoughts
Thanks Scott!
Great feedback Kevin, thank you!
Hey Kevin, I live in Columbus, Ohio and we have both Buff City Soap and Lush. Buff City looks great and I’ve got my eye on their Kraken soap! 😊
I've used Buff City Soap beard oil. Seems to be pretty decent for my beard. Not bad for a quick, cheap option.

You are not alone with the quickness!
Solid info there Dan! Although I love the marketing I, similar to you, thought that there's no way they can live up to the hype they give themselves. Instead I tried Grandpa Pine Tar soap for using on my beard. Which seems to be great. Have you had any experience of that one?
I don’t think I have tried that one yet, but I should!
I had the same issue with it depleting quickly. For me it was just OK, exactly like you said. I switched over to Old Whippersnapper for my pine tar and it works great!! This video reminded me that I’m due for a reset soon. Thanks Dan! 👍🏻👍🏻
Sounds like that curing process got you too. I haven’t tried that company you mentioned. I’ll have to give them a look

I enjoy Dr. Squatch bars. The con i have is the bar softness and i tend to finish the bar in a week.
Exactly my experience!
When I started my soap Co I of course bought a few bars of these and Pacha. Longevity was the biggest con for me but a pro as well lol it taught me how important cure time was. I cure mine for 2 months. Overall I did like them but liked Pacha much more, they felt more hand made
The curing process seems to be the biggest downfall for many!
Mr Herks is your soaps all natural and handmade? Name of the company?
Great video! The marketing failed with me but that doesn't mean anything. It didn't make me want to buy the product. I'll stick with Honest Amish. Easy, cheap, and scent doesn't overpower everything. Does the job well.
Great option there!
I have not yet, but I have heard good things!
what I don't like about Dr squatch is that it's basically soap guy soap resold.
do many better options for mens soaps.
but they have made mens body care more popular.

Agreed fully!
Great personal feedback!
I appreciate the feedback!
I never had an issue with the soap crumbling. I ordered straight from them and kept it on their cedarsoap tray. My skin doesn't do too well with it. It ends up drying me out and clogging pores.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
octanes soap is 🔥! it's very smooth and creamy
I like their soaps only thing is I wish the scent would last a little longer I feel like it dissipates to fast and doesn't last long like it claims to
Interesting! I do not want ANY lingering scent from my soap. That is just personal preference though
I appreciate the feedback!
Truth be told, the marketing is what made me get the soap. I did love the product but Beard Octane soaps are great. There are better soaps from beard companies. Which is convenient for purchases with other products.
For sure!
They make beard oils too but I’ve never tried them.
I haven’t tried yet either
Would this stuff be fine for your beard since it’s organic? I wonder or would it strip too much oils away? Thanks
It’s fine, but no more than once a week
Just placed an order for their starter pack, and added on pine tar deodorant and pine tar face wash. Can all these soaps be used in head hair?
They can, yes
I have a quarterly sub for them. Pretty convenient process when it comes to swapping out scents. Never really noticed how fast they run out though because by the time I was out of all six bars the new shipment was ready to be delivered. Been buying them for years now and will continue. Great video.
Thank you for the feedback!
Just found Dr Squatch at my local Walmart. It was $5.98 a bar compared to $9 on Amazon.
That’s awesome!
Have you ever used Dr. Squatch beard oil if so what’s your thoughts on it
I have not yet
I am currently using their soap for the first time. It is a good soap but I prefer handmade goats milk soap myself. As for their marketing, it certainly isn't aimed at an old guy like me. lol
Goat’s milk soap is fantastic!
Jmo.
Fantastic feedback and right with my personal experiences
Even thought their marketing is fairly high quality, I don't always agree with the underlying attitude. Never tried their soaps and with so many options on the market, even at your local health food stores, I likely won't ever try their products.
Agreed with the underlying attitude of the marketing. They miss me on many of their concepts
great review love the insight, im a little new to having a beard so kinda picked up something that was cheap from walmart and not realising that the bottle says all natural for men of color which i have no problem with however my beard keep turning grey and its even a little off puting seeing so much grey for being only 31. i do trim it even though im trying to grow it out a little could the beard shampoo be the cause of the grey? i believe the company name it shea moisture
Unfortunately, no it’s highly unlikely that it’s from a wash or any product
@@DanCBearded might be a silly question but what might it be if not the product? really hoping not having to dye my beard just to get rid of them
@@stillwalkergamesplus it’s probably the natural color of your hair or there is damage there

What about Duke Cannon Soap is it ok on beard as well?
Yup! Not the best option but not the worst
What are the ingredients? Like other beard products, I won’t use them until I know what’s in them.
I do not know off the top of my head. All natural I know. They will have them all listed on the site. Each bar has different ingredients
A beard company has purchased the formulations from WnH, so hopefully they will be bringing out pretty much the same product!
Interesting. I never really considered trying them, because as bad at this sounds, I really thought it was just a marketing company, selling soap. The ads were fun but I really wondered how much are you paying for with the soap, and how much is the marketing.
It’s better than most but not the best
@@DanCBearded I was pleasantly surprised by that. I will probably try cold start at some point because its essential oils. Just got my Dr. Nicks and I am loving that #7 scent!
For sure give cold start a shot! Would be a nice thinner oil to rotate in
@@DanCBearded That would be the first oil I can use from them that is scented, so that will be cool! I am also interested in trying their cold start soap which sounds awesome.
I was always curious about this, but dubious about it. The marketing seemed to try too hard. I suppose I could use it as a strip for the beard as I still haven't gotten a good one for that yet, but it won't be worth the international shipping for me.
International shipping always complicates things
Hey there how do you like the ingredients? We still tons of it at my work Dr. Squatch bar soap thought about giving it a try how does it do on your body?
That’s what this video is all about my man! I share my totally thoughts here 🤝
Dr. Squatch company i just found some beard oil by the company maybe it’s good I don’t know I thought I would share it to you
I haven’t tried yet but likely will
Just bought my first Squacth soap last week. It's a decent soap, but nothing special (IMO). Smells goods, but costly for the size.
Agreed fully!
Hey Dan what would you recommend that’s close to a WnH soap?

I also recommend stripping the beard with a soap bar once a week, just replacing the gentle wash that day.
Try the wash (and any other products) from this company: Doctor Nicks= www.doctornicks.com/danc

I haven’t tried their oil yet
Are their bar soaps that can be used as everyday or every other day wash for beards? I don't really like buying plastic bottles or those tubes.

Have you tried their beard oil? If so is it worth it?
I have not yet
Never used it for my beard but have for a body cleaning and even tried there head hair shampoo. Both dried out my skin and scalp like mad. But I do have very sensitive skin that dry s out real easy.
That makes a lot of sense. This for sure is not for the most sensitive skin!
Thank you for the consistent content, sir! I had been wondering about squatch. Are you familiar with Buff city soaps, and if so do you recommend them?
You’re welcome! I love this and will always remain consistent.
I am not familiar with that brand. I’m sorry!
Awesome video Dan!
Thank you!
@@DanCBearded you’re welcome!
OK, so no substitute for the beard wash bar from Whiskey N Hardtack now that they are going away. I'm looking for that type of replacement.
Another beard company has purchased the formulations from WnH and the solid beard wash bar will be the shining star of that acquisition. Hopefully something will come out soon. You know I will keep you posted!
@@DanCBearded that's great!! That has become my favorite wash. And you know I'll be watching.

@@DanCBearded awesome love the Honest Amish 🤝
Have ya ever used any of the black soaps ? I like it from head to toe ..
Yup, love black soap!
Very very well said Scott!
Hey Dan 👊 Awesome video. Love Dr. Squatch bar soap but never tried it with my beard. 🤷
