To whoever is going to follow this video and replace the full frame, do NOT forget that gold H sticker at the bottom left corner! Without it, your phone's external speaker won't work! That's the one thing that wasn't mentioned here. Otherwise, this was a really helpful video! It definetly saved me from going to a phone repair place and I feel like I don't want to go again!

Anyone having sound issues after doing this check the tape over the ribbon cable from the screen, the tape often covers one of the contact points for the speakers, you need to fold it in the corner so it clears the contact point on the motherboard.
Thanks to someone on an Amazon review for pointing this out.

    • @mm6705
      @mm6705 17 дней назад +1

freaking legend, thank you so much! there are 4 contact points and I was only looking at the left two, had to open up again and see the ribbon covering the bottom right contact, under the motherboard.
      good looking out

thanks, two thumbs up for your presentation. You make it look easy. I'll probably go for the glass&frame. I just dropped mine on a city bus due to an impatient stupid bus driver. I would recommend when you first get a new phone out of the packaging , leave the thin coating of plastic on your screen. It helps prevent cracks due to slight or small drops on the ground and in normal use prevents knicks and scratches to the screen.

Timothy Paskal yes but the screen was glitchy after about 30 minutes of use. I may have gotten bad parts. The video didn't show electrical stickers that needed to be transferred over. That made it more tedious. I didn't buy the parts from the person making the video.

Did this repair the other day and this video was super helpful. Only thing is when I returned the phone to the owner she said the loudspeaker was no longer working. I don't remember seeing a loudspeaker piece when I took it apart, is it soldered to the mobo or something?

  • @scienceisboss5012

I followed this video along with the tip from Trueblade1423 about the H sticker and it worked great! I am not tech savvy at all btw. I originally did not transfer the H sticker because the screen and frame I got from amazon had one already and I just folded the blue ribbon to expose all 4 of the copper pieces. BUT my speakers didn't work when I did that so I went back and actually transferred the H sticker from my old screen and put it right on top of the one in the new screen. I peeled it up using tweezers and went really slowly. Now my speakers work along with everything else so far.

Excellent video, but I would like to mention that you forgot about the rubber gasket for the proximity sensor that is located between both of the cameras. Without that gasket, you will experience your screen constantly blank/dark when you place or receive a call.

Really good video tear down. It helped me tremendously and most of the video I was able to see what you did. There are just a few minor things that need to be noted (and this could have just been for the frame and LCD that I ordered). First off there are 11 screws not 10 no big deal. The 2nd part is when you removed the headphone jack it was hard to see how you got under the ribbon to pull that off. It is just aheasive so anyone doing this just take your time with the thinnest pry tool you have. Some heat would help here. The same goes for the ear speaker. Now one point that I feel was missed, again this could have been a miss on the frame and LCD I ordered but there is a ribbon cable to the left of the lcd screen that plugs into the motherboard that has to be moved over also. Mine did not come with one so i have to carefully remove it. Since it was not attached to anything solid and was just glued down, I really had to take my time slowly moving under it was a very thin flat head screw driver. It was simple enough once it was off to move it to the new frame. But again please don't take this as me bashing the video in any way. It was great and I could not have done the replacement without. I appreciate all the work that went into making this and giving me a guide to go off of. Great job!

This was excellent after following video it's all done just that son has a clear screen but it's kinda fuzzy background not clear as it was prior to him dropping his phone. What do I need to do?
Those asking about the screws and speakers common sense you remove all screws he shouldn't have to be that specific it's just common sense. Then the loud speaker well he does show us to remove it. If it's attached common sense detach it from the other bottom part IF ur with the new frame which I prefare than using blow dryer to detach all that other stuff.
    Great gob Sir

I have an LG Fortune I desperately need some data off of. The phone still works but the screen is a goner. The model he is working on isn't the same, but it is very similar, enough so that I was able to follow along. My connectors are just in slightly different spots. I tried finding solutions to get the information off of it, and realized the best bet was to just try replacing the screen, so hopefully that works out.

When I got my Glass screen replaced, and the phone returned to me by the repairman, there was a white light in the middle bottom portion of the screen, and the picture was off; it didn't look as sharp as the OEM. Is this something I should inform my repairman about? Do you think he replaced the entire assembly and not just the glass screen?
EDIT: From the looks of your part, seems like he had to have replaced the entire screen assembly.

Yamil Carrasquillo in the bottom left hand corner of the phone, remove the mother board and you should see a gold bar in the shape of an H. This is what the speaker connects to. Remove this (which is held in purely by adhesive, so be gentle) and replace back into new case. You should have speaker capibilities back.

I am highly skilled, but replacing the glass without the LCD is damn near impossible to do .. especially perfectly. The glass is glued to the LCD. high Heat (on plastic bezel) is the only way to remove it .. then you have to remove remaining bits of glue. One oops and its over. So I agree with those who say don't bother with the glass alone. To add insult to injury the company that sent me the glass .. send the LG K20 .. not plus so it was the wrong shape.
finally a mined working screen from a reseller is likely better for an LG20 than a new one. I bought a new one via Ebay .. and though the fit was good and the assembly quality also high .. the brightness of the screen was 25% less than the original and I couldn't use it in sun. There is no way to know if you'll get one of these ..

Do I remove this and put it on my replacement screen? Also what is it for?

Me as well. I get stuck on the "secure start up screen" and am unable to type in my pin - unresponsive to touch. I re-checked the LCD cable and can't figure it out... any ideas?

If you got the screen off ebay from china its probably the sellers fault. I got mine from ebay, but from a seller that had some good reviews. After emailing them back and forth, they ended up saying that they will notify their supplies, get me a new screen, and tell the supplies to send a working screen. So I wait for the screen. If the screen works, I will tell you the supplies so hopefully you can get a working screen too.

What's the exact model number of your phone? It can be found under the battery or by going to settings and about.

Joshua Johnson I think it's the same breakdown... Just different internal hardware. If I were you I would just go get a new k20 plus or the ZTE max blade whish is the daemon price for faster processor and beer graphics. The LG k20 is 720 and the ZTE max blade is 6' screen with 1080

To anyone who doesn't have this phone, DONT purchase one. My screen cracked from heat, days latter shattered sitting still in a grass field watching fireworks. This is an awful phone, if you don't already have one, save yourself and look elsewhere. The Pixel 3A is a much better device at the same price point with a newer version of Android.
