A saying in AA that I have taken to heart is “Progress, not perfection.” We will never achieve perfection. It’s simply not possible. However, that does not mean you give up. You must strive towards progress, and growth. If you stop growing… well, a plant that ceases to grow is no longer living.
Hi Chad. Please let me encourage you a little. Jesus said that we can find perfection in this life and can do so humbly. He said in fact that we should expect to "be perfect as he is perfect" with his help of course. He also, speaking through John said that we are "finished with sin" and should not expect ourselves to ever sin again. When we do he is quick to forgive us and make our record perfect again, but all the better when we don't miss the mark at all. You can do it Chad! Don't give yourself room to fail. Expect yourself to succeed with Jesus' help and in his name! You can do it!
@@dewaynewatson2675 So, how's that working out for you? Are you living a perfect, sinless life? If you think you are, you're delusional and deceived. Check out 1 John chapter 1. Who did John write this letter to? Christians!! The Apostle Paul wrote about fighting his flesh. It was a major struggle for him! The sinful nature is not done away with at being born again. We lose the the sinful nature when we get our glorified body. Until then, this is the battle we all fight daily. We win battles, and sometimes we lose some. But, Jesus won the war for us! This is why we need the gift of forgiveness for the sins we commit as Christians. Did you catch what Jesus said? He knows we can't live our lives perfectly! All He wants from us is our hearts! And we take life one day at a time! What's Jesus's shed blood for? Not just for salvation, but also to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. After all, He paid the debt for all sin, past, present, and future! That's what makes Him a wonderful Savior! That shed blood sets us free from the slavery to sin! We are free to choose!
@@kathierouse5306 I am not permissive of sin in my life. Temptation and failure come for sure, but I make not allowance nor excuse for them. You've made no point is recognizing that he (Jesus speaking through John) was talking to Christians. Of course he was, and he was expecting perfection. Paul's struggle was real of course. Major? No more than any other. When did Jesus say that we can't live our lives perfectly? That never happened. Are you referring to The Chosen? If so then you have become part of the problem. The Chosen is mostly make believe. He wants far more than your heart. He wants everything or he will take nothing. "to cleanse us from All unrighteousness". I'm sorry that you don't feel like he's powerful enough to help you live a righteous life now. You seem to anticipate your sin. There is not one verse in all of The Bible that suggests that yours is a reasonable Christian perspective. He does indeed forgive endlessly, but all the better if we like Paul, demand better of ourselves and choose Jesus over sin. Of course it's possible. It's like choosing to eat cake instead of excrement. No one would have a problem with that. What sin do you still so enjoy that you expect to choose it over Jesus? I don't have one. I choose him...easily.
Progress not perfection….yes. I was thinking that as I watched as well. I learned years ago that the word Jesus used when He said “be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect” is not our common use of the word. In Greek the connotation is “perfect for the job”. Think about needing a screwdriver to put cabinets together. You have a fancy shiny new screwdriver but it’s the wrong size. So you root around in the tool box and find a rusty old screwdriver with a broken handle. But it fits! So you can build your cabinets. And you say “that’s perfect”. THAT is the meaning of the word “perfect” Jesus used. Not flawless. But made for a purpose and perfect for the job to which you were called.
I learn so much from both of you and you really make me want to read my Bible more and more! The Chosen also does that but your understanding of Rabbinic teachings just breaks it open wide for me. Thank you so much!!
I love the way the scene of the disciples eating the grain was portrayed. In Torah the edges of the fields are left for the travellers and needy and are not meant to be harvested by the owner so the disciples aren't taking something that belongs to someone else. This scene is so beautiful how they all joyfully eat from the provision of God, not only that He's in their midst but that His Word ensures that the poor and needy are provided for. 💕🙏🏽
What just hit me is the One Who finished His Work on the 7th day and rested, is now choosing to do love's work on the 7th day because He is our rest. He is remarkable.

As a Catholic and huge fan of The Chosen, I’m learning SO much from you guys. I absolutely love how you enhance your commentary with explanations to things I’ve never quite understood and little snippets of expert knowledge. My mind repeatedly goes 💡!
Wow, Golgotha was named after Goliaths head? Love these data. This was a loaded episode and I so appreciated your reactions and connecting the Old with the New. I had the same reaction to “I forgive you.” God bless you! I’m getting an education listening to you .
My husband and I have had great discussions about the Bible while watching THE CHOSEN. I have learned more than at any other time in my 70 years!! The 10 are more intense than the 613!
Yes, It took three viewings for me to notice the “look up” and yes, the implication is that David was referring to The Heavenly King sending him on mission.
When the priest says to David that "something was going to come through you, something bigger, more exciting" wouldn't that be a reference to the lineage of Christ coming through David? That's what I thought of when he said that...a foreshadowing of the coming of Christ.
Yes...GOD made certain that the Bloodline was told that The Lord Jesus would descend through 'him 'her, with each generation, in the way He knew that they would have known to suck it up, and to do what was asked of them. Remember...the people always referred to 'Father Abraham, David, even beginning with Eve...and so many more. So the following bloodline would remember what they were told, if they didn't already understand when GOD told them.
I am guessing that The Chosen filming will take a break after episode 8 and come then back to film season 3…I hope you guys will be able to have time during that break to watch and comment on more episodes, maybe even full episodes. I have learned so much from the two of you and am so glad I found your channel!
Interesting point. They move from a condemnation free zone to the synagogue which feels full of condemnation (to the tenth generation!) Which should have been one of welcoming compassion.
I was crying and then, smiling throughout your whole video. "The Chosen" show is really amazing!!! Thank you for sharing this!! I believe in Yahshua Messiah!! And how i long to see Him coming again for us!! Keep up your good work. Surely, He will bless you.
Had a lump in my throat and teary eyes during that forgiveness scene as well. That's the power of God's grace at work. I think it's so much more meaningful, not just the first time round encountering it but realizing it is a resilient, enduring grace despite our weakness and backsliding.
Another insightful look into The Chosen. Thank you very much for the historical and cultural context. I hope you can do a separate video focusing on the Jewish scholars, the legal/political/scriptural tension and debates among the Pharisees on how they assess Jesus' actions, and more of the Shammai vs Hillel schools of thought once all S2 episodes are shown.
I watched the episode already. But man! I appreciate your explanations and ideas and insights. Cried with you on Jesus and Mary's scene in the tent. Please keep making reaction videos! ❤️ Shalom!!!

It's my understanding that Messiah never broke Sabbath or any Torah commandment [or he couldn't be the 'spotless lamb' of God]. BUT he did break the Takanot and Ma'asim of the Pharisees...the burdensome yolk that God's people were never meant to carry. Stay Blessed!
@@samanthashirley206 I don't think it's a matter of them not making it more clear. I think that they likely hold fast to the perspective that Messiah did away with the Torah because it was a burden. That's where I believe the subtle nudges about the prayers etc are leading. Mind you, Torah doesn't express that they had to have specific prayers for when they woke up, to use a negel vessel to ceremonially wash their hands etc. I think if more people could point this out in the comments section to The Chosen maybe Father could use that seed to have them look a bit closer at scripture.
@@al-8026 yes, I've been considering writing to them about this. They've done such a good job on everything else. And I do believe they are sincere and Holy Spirit led. But I keep thinking, who would listen to me? But you are right, if a bunch of us point this out... who knows. Yeshua bless you, Shabbat Shalom!
@@samanthashirley206 I agree with you, Samantha! I, too, wish that more research had been done on who the Pharisees actually were and where they came from. I have seen the conversations Dallas had with the 3 clergymen. What I don't understand is why Rabbi Jason, nor Doug, went into greater detail. Dallas has this idea that the Pharisees were really not all that bad, that they weren't villains. The truth is, they made the claim that if people just obeyed the Traditions of the Elders, that would be considered the fulfillment of the Torah. I would also like to point out the wrath of the Pharisees. Was their hostility justified? Were they right in accusing Jesus of breaking the sabbath and the Torah? One more question...in John chapters 10-11, Jesus said the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy the sheep. Who was actually the thief? If we look at this in context, Jesus was addressing the Pharisees! He pointed out that they were the thieves! Want to know more? I recommend a video on RUclips channel called Steven Kozar. He has dialogue with Pastor Chris Rosebrough regarding the Pharisees and their real identity. It's very interesting and eye opening! I learned some things I was never taught. Wow! I have listened to their video several times, and as I think about what they said, a lot of passages of Scripture start to make more sense to me. I feel lights coming on inside of me! Please don't get me wrong, I dearly love The Chosen show. It's marvelous and magnificent! But I seriously believe that people need to know the real background of the Pharisees, then everything makes sense! Please let me know your thoughts and opinions. 😊👍🙌🙌🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏🙏

I really enjoy you guys explanations of the scenes and doing so within the context of Hebrew practices as it is meant in the Bible. Whilst I am Christian, the way I am taught is more based on Western interpretation of the Bible (I am in the Caribbean, Jamaica to be exact, so our introduction to Christianity is entwined with our colonial experiences), so it is very refreshing and an eye opener for me listening to your perspectives and learning and seeing the Bible based on the Hebrew understanding. Blessings to you both.

Expect yourself to succeed with Jesus' help and in his name! You can do it!
@@dewaynewatson2675
So, how's that working out for you?
@@dewaynewatson2675 see my post above. The word Jesus used in Greek does not mean perfect as we use it today. It does not mean flawless
I learn so much from both of you and you really make me want to read my Bible more and more! The Chosen also does that but your understanding of Rabbinic teachings just breaks it open wide for me. Thank you so much!!
Just realised David burst in when they got to Judah. How cool!
Oh yes that's right! They are so well written!
You guys are so much fun to watch and listen to 😀😀😍😍
Watched it on the premier, man I was crying when Mary Magdalene came to Jesus, it was a picture of what all of us go through. So powerful and convicting.
"I forgive you". Man, I, in that moment, imagined Him saying that to me. It made me cry.
I really appreciate the insights you offer that I did not get growing up in a protestant church. Thank you!
Yes I agree I too love the education I'm getting from these two guys. Love Grafted...love it!!!
My husband and I have had great discussions about the Bible while watching THE CHOSEN. I have learned more than at any other time in my 70 years!! The 10 are more intense than the 613!
The second time David referred to the King he raised his eyes upward. ☝️✝️
Yes. I think he was referring to God.
@@KgakgamatsoCasandra of course he was. Wonderful
Yes, It took three viewings for me to notice the “look up” and yes, the implication is that David was referring to The Heavenly King sending him on mission.
Don't worry, I cried too! Then I cried when you cried.
Hello from Australia. 🇭🇲
Me too. Also in Australia...

Is great to see others breaking down and crying from Yeshua's words. almost every episode makes me cry
Wow I have really enjoyed these reactions and learning more about the Jewish context! Please keep doing these reactions!
I cried in the episode and when y’all cried 😭
Right, so powerful!
Me too, I cried the first time but cried more with you guys. 😭
I am guessing that The Chosen filming will take a break after episode 8 and come then back to film season 3…I hope you guys will be able to have time during that break to watch and comment on more episodes, maybe even full episodes. I have learned so much from the two of you and am so glad I found your channel!
Good morning
The Chosen season 3 premises November 2022
You guys! I love how you review these episodes. “Condemnation-free zone”! Love it!!!!
Interesting point. They move from a condemnation free zone to the synagogue which feels full of condemnation (to the tenth generation!) Which should have been one of welcoming compassion.
You guys are doing a wonderful job God bless you
I was crying and then, smiling throughout your whole video. "The Chosen" show is really amazing!!! Thank you for sharing this!! I believe in Yahshua Messiah!! And how i long to see Him coming again for us!! Keep up your good work. Surely, He will bless you.
Really enjoy you sharing from Jewish prospective, I am a visual learner so appreciate Chosen and your input.🇨🇦🙏✡️
When David says "the King", he looks up indicating a different 'King' than most of us assume as being Saul, but it's not.
I've watched this several times since it aired! I get tears in my heart! I am so very happy you do these deep dives into clips. I BELIEVE in you!!
I cried too at that point. It brought back memories of Him forgiving me, oh so many times.
Had a lump in my throat and teary eyes during that forgiveness scene as well. That's the power of God's grace at work. I think it's so much more meaningful, not just the first time round encountering it but realizing it is a resilient, enduring grace despite our weakness and backsliding.
When Mary says,
"I broke again"...
I keep breaking, too!
YOU UNDERSTAND SO MUCH AND IT MAKES IT INTERESTING TO WATCH YOUR CHANNEL.
I agree with you. You need someone like Matthew.. in your circle and in the body of Christ..
Praise Jesus Our Lord and Savior! What a beautifully powerful episode ❤️
Ok... I'm in tears all over again...the scene with Mary... extremely powerful 😇
You two guys make my day...I too sometimes sit corrected. Love what you do.
Catholic here. Just wanted to say how much I love messianics. You guys’ reverence is inspiring
I’m so glad you were so vulnerable and let yourself feel! Yes everyone needs to hear those words from Christ!
We didn't just need to hear it we needed to see it Jesus & Mary
I watched the episode already. But man! I appreciate your explanations and ideas and insights. Cried with you on Jesus and Mary's scene in the tent.
Please keep making reaction videos! ❤️ Shalom!!!
Loved loved loved this! You guys really are giving me much longed for insights. Y’all making me thirst for more!
You two add so much to my The Chosen experience! Thank you so much! I am recommending your channel to others who watch The Chosen. I'm SO glad I found you.
Shalom! From Mechanicsville, Virginia.
I really appreciate the way you explain things. I’ve learned so much just from listening to you talk about the stories in the Bible. I actually subscribed so that I can learn more! Thank you ☺️🙏
Haha 😂 I love the bloopers!
Love the Bob Ross insert 😂. On a serious note, oh how we need the teachers during these times...The Lord bless and keep you and yours 🕊️🙏
I felt that scene too. 😭
Love your reaction videos!. Keep going. 😊
So powerful, and I am so blessed that you guys stopped talking during the clips and paused it to comment. Thank you!
I love watching your reaction videos. I hope you continue.
I love you guys! You make The Chosen even better.
Thank you for such a heart-felt and sincere response. Laughter and tears - great medicine!!
So appreciate your help in understanding The Chosen. I really love you guys. I love laughter when talking seriously. You two are so special.
Really enjoy your commentary and historical perspective.
Yes! I wish the Chosen would make this distinction more clear!
@@samanthashirley206
I agree with you, Samantha!
@@samanthashirley206 Messiah turned fishermen into fishers of men..never underestimate what Father can do through you when you step out in faith and obedience.
I am a Roman Catholic and I love The Chosen. The scene were Mary Magdalene comes back reminds me of the sacrament of confession. Mother Mary accompanying Mary reminds me how mother Mary gives me the strength to go to confession and reminds she's always a mother by my side. Jesus waiting in the tent for Mary reminds me of how Jesus waits for me in confession. And the scene were Mary hugs Jesus reminds me how Jesus forgives me in confession.
Thanks for the Bible study follow up, this bleeds GRACE, unmerited favor Jesus gives us - This episode made you feel it, the unmerited love of Jesus.. We believe in grace but now we felt it with Mary M restored....This is Anointed by the Holy Spirit.. P.S.-- Moved when Jesus was in grief over Johns arrest.......Life- changing
Aloha from Hawaii 🙋 ❤ 🌺 What an awesome sight you are dear brothers. Thank you for being real. Aloha 😙 🙌 ❤
Such a pleasure listening to you two, and learn more good things!😙👍🏼
When they ate the wheat, earlier in this episode Thomas counted the last of their lentils.
I was in the Valley if Elah a few years back. The wheat that grows there is really cool
I love how Christ said, 'what you think you'd stay holy'.. former episode he flatout told the 'thunder boys' his whole reason for being there was no one was worthy of heaven. Makes you stop to think, even saved, how every day you pick up your cross and you try to be what God & Jesus wants... and some days, its tough. Aside from that, I love how Matthew is expressing interest in Mary. Its sweet.
There is a puddle of tears on my desk, after watching the video. Those words "I forgive you" and then knowing what it cost him to pay for our sins. I´m deeply touched.
BTW I can see Jesus in you both. Its like you make him visible. Especially the Guy with the short hair. It seems you had to dig deep to get to this place. You will touch the Lifes of many people ,so they can encounter Jesus.
Shalom Charmaine in Jamaica!
First time commenter, long time watcher. Just kidding, first time watcher. But Matt, I love your giggle in the out takes. Nice work all of you! Thanks for helping break it down. On top of what the Chosen has already done, you and made the Word even more understandable and loveable.
Great job guys.
Great review guys. Enjoyed your take on this episode of The Chosen. It was nice to see Dallas Jenkins join in the streaming chat. My third time watching those scenes and I was just as emotional about them. Thanks and keep up the great work!!
I love watching your videos. Especially on the chosen because y’all teach me so much that i didn’t know and you all had the same reaction to the scene with Jesus and Mary as i did. No words. Just tears.
some of us do go astray and we need to come back. The backslider needs, must come back. She,s the lost sheep. Amen!
“That’s deliverance where I come from.” That’s a great Bible Joke
I learn so much from you guys! God’s blessings!
I have watched the 6th , that I was amazed and loved, but I really appreciate having you both giving an explanation and comments on it. Thank you
We all need Yeshua's forgiveness, healing and freedom. He is The Son of Man!
Great perspective, thanks!
I’ve watched The Chosen over and over, and this scene, when Jesus says “I forgive you” tears run down my face every time
That was healing and powerful!
Thank you for doing such a great job of making even more clear how powerful this episode was in showing mercy, forgiveness, the authority of the Christ...wow! Great episode and great explanation of the Jewish tradition and back ground. Loved it when you both teared up at "I forgive you." I can't get through that scene without crying every time I see it. God is good and we see him clearly in Jesus!
