    I sing in my church choir (soprano) and for fun too and your tips are very helpful! I would sing Mariah songs when I was a kid and seemed to hit high notes like nothing then.. now sometimes I can hit these higher notes and sometimes I can't get as high as I'd like to on other days, so learning to be able to access those higher tones is cool. Also, your voice is beautiful! Glad I came across your channel!

      Very cool that you sing in church. I’m glad that these tips are helpful for you. Warming up the right can really affect your range. Be sure to warm up before going straight for high notes. Thanks for watching!!

      @@thisisshari OH MY GOD GIRL! That's the crazy thing about YOuTube. You can teach something that helps somebody in just a couple minutes of your video and even years later, people are still being helped. I can only imagine how amazing you are with all kinds of new insights on this. I have been off and on about my vocal training. My work weighs on me but I need it to live and still, I have had times where singing also helped me survive- could be just that gig but, one has to be ready and I also worry about losing my range. Horse drills are always so hard for me to start! But hearing it this way really helped and the puppy dog too- WOW.. I'm going to get that key check app to see how high I just sang- it was so much stronger than how I approach these notes! I used to think it was a gift but singing right is a lot of work. Well, pardon my message so long but truly, thank you and glad to discover your channel!

      Jorell Torres Jorell Torres hi Jorell, thanks for the question! They are not the same. They use different parts of the vocal folds and whistle register is a lot higher than falsetto.

      Thank you so much SHARI for the replie but since I’m a beginner in doing whistle notes, I was just wondering if I’m doing it right. Because when I do whistle notes it’s like tightening my throat more. Like how you switch chest voice to falsetto but instead falsetto to whistle register, am I doing this right. Because some vocal coaches here in RUclips said that the right way to sing whistle notes is to inhale, which is insane

    are you singing the high notes in whistle or falstetto or flageolet register?

    • @thisisshari
      @thisisshari  4 года назад +12

      The flageolet and whistle registers are the same as far as I know. Falsetto is more of an airy tone and I'm not really producing air. I think this is more whistle. It would be great if we could look at my vocal folds to see exactly what's vibrating and where the cords are touching then we would know for sure exactly what register is involved.

    • @mar-ui2sr
      @mar-ui2sr 3 года назад +1

      The original is actually in flageolet

    • @archive2500
      @archive2500 3 года назад +2

      Whistle and flageolet are the same thing, head voice and falsetto also refer to the same register. Basically, flageolet/whistle makes your cords thinner so you can hit easier notes above, the same way what opera singers do, the only difference is their head voice/falsetto is very well-developed that even their highest notes are thicker than just a pure flageolet/whistle sound, and just like her exercises, their flageolet/whistle and head voice/falsetto are very well-connected to each other.

    • @sugarcandy4639

      Leonardo Silveira I find a new way, you just have to open up your chest. It’s weird but imagine air flowing through it, so when they say open throat they mean an open space around that area, no constriction should be there or block, don’t hold your breath or anything it should be open and feel air or another way try sighing at that area around the chest and keep the voice froward aiming at the nose and keep the sound down to the chest, that would give you a neutral larynx so you don’t damage your voice. I hope that helps, always visualise high notes downwards because we don’t want a high larynx that can cause break and vocal damage

      Sugar Candy Are you a boy or a girl? Well, it worked! I was able to emit a C6, C#6, D6, E6 and F#6. I learned to breathe expanding my abs but I guess it was blocking my throat. When I tried breathing opening my chest I felt like controlling a tiny amount of air as emiting the notes.
