Came back. Loved the vid. Some talented people. Minnie’s still my fave, soft, sweet, effortless, enchanting. Chante’s voice and control is amazing. Different style completely, but amazing as well.

Minnie Ripperton obviously! That being said, to my ears, Duong Hoang Yen, Shanice, Klarisse de Guzman, Ashley, Sydney Aterbridge, and Marina Elali did pretty well! Chante Moore didn't exactly follow along the same notes but I really liked how playful she was with them. Beautiful.
As much as I love all of the covers, they can’t just replicate the romance Minnie exuded whenever she performed this song. This song is about being so madly in love and having butterflies in your belly, yet being sensual. I feel like most singers who sing this forget about the meaning of the verses and focus too much on the whistle part. But they are all great vocalists!❤️
Wtf some of them changing the melody AND/or tempo of this song? It's a Golden classic, Don't mess with it, just sing it like it was fucking created! Minnie Riperton obviously won but if it has to be someone besides her, I'd pick Leona Lewis.
Thats funny for someone ranting about singing it as the original did. The original is a whistle tone done using the whistle register. But leona , like many in the video , used falsetto . Lmao Also its not messing with it. Its called musicianship . Adapting your own style. Chante moore's was the best one hands down. Actual whistle and she made it her own. Not a carbon copy .
Cristian Brarda she made it her own and it's literally the best one here. A healthy whistle and she was able to make it her own without butchering the original . And FYI she's on key m changing the Melody a bit doesn't mean she's doing it wrong . Even Minnie changes up the whistles for this song. Something's she went high instead of lower. Its what musically inclined people do .
First, what a great job you did, Mr. GoLightly... you helped me see the many smiles we all have, limitless and unique. They are ALL PERFECT! 1. KAIMOOK SNICKKE - you know the primordial afterlife. 2. GEORGIA BROWN - Fascinating ....... 3. ADAM LOPEZ - Fantastic! 4. Von Smith duet - Cute! She had a touch of Bette Davis. 5. 🌟 JONALYN VIRAY! - SHE IS AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE SONG! MY FAVORITE because she carried everybody's voice with her to an ending (energy projection) climatic, yet with something special and highly unusual. The sudden silence she does at the end is very important to see. That is the most artistic thing to do. She left the last sound of the shrill ... SILENT ... to say a very sacred thing. I hope she is aware that she was noticed as extraordinary, by me, and as a very unusual talent. Only a very advanced soul could achieve what she displayed. Thank you, JONALYN VIRAY for letting me see this. ❤ 6. LEAH MCFALL - HANDS DOWN, MY CHOICE FOR THE MIDHEAVEN AWARD. She'll know what I mean. The Artist Colony where the stage HOVERS the waters, and for good reason. The Graces be upon you, sweetheart. Quality. Thank you. You reminded me of Bette Davis and Bernadette Peters, but with strength of breath of a Goddess. Thank you for visiting us and sacrificing your domain for an hour. Beautiful, beautiful runner 😊 7. Jane Zhang - our alpha and omega girl 😊! Your ending is an opening, indeed. I think we should all have to sing this song ..... as a prerequisite .... 8. @@justinmaryland1081 i’m a singer and i can tell you for a fact only 2 vocalists in the entire compilation were not using a head voice and it’s because they obviously have a really wide range and have been very strictly vocally trained. it’s extremely difficult to belt out notes that high at some point you have to go into your head voice, not even necessarily because it’s easier but it just sounds better
3:25 dafuq she really feelin it with dem high notes 😂
She looks like Tae in his Boy In Luv era
@@kimberly-lt9gc hahahahahha omg😂😂😂 kinda🤣🤣🤣
Kim Taehyung is heartue💜💜🖤🖤
@@kimberly-lt9gc Don't do tae so dirty like that, boy doesn't deserve it 😂
HAHAHAHHA UTAS
Minnie is #1 without a shadow of a doubt. Then the only ones of any impression on me are: Chante Moore>Leah McFall>Ally>Everybody else
Actually I kinda liked Twinnie tbh
minnie > georgia brown > all
Chante, you stay
Hideki Arata 🤣😂
RuPauls Drag Race!!!!!!!!!
😂
Everybody else sashay away 😂
Holy shit 💀
There's nothing better than the original. Minnie was by far the best.
10:09 bro am I the only one who died when the whole audience tried to sing the notes😂😂😂😂
3:34 Basically yodeling... She needs more control over her voice :/
hahahaha
Jxsl3n3 definitely
Yodeling is controlled rapid swapping between chest and head. It's super difficult to do. That was just unsupported and out her range lol
@@razrv3lc that was the point
park baekhyun chogiwa kkaebsong no it wasn’t. She said that was yodeling which it wasn’t. Yodeling is a difficult technique that no one accidentally does.
4:29 tho. Theres like girls dancing in the background.
JuTus JaxTon LastName those r witches
Yeah!!!
LMAO, I LAUGHED SO HARD
lol i laugh so hard hahahaha
JuTus JaxTon LastName the tall one looks and dances like Dua Lipa...
for me alot of them sounded to rushed, just trying to reach the whistle part, without putting enough soul and effort into capturing the dreaminess and floatingness of the parts leading up to it. My favourite will always be the original.
Tonia Reeves you clearly skipped chante moore or you’re just biased. Minnie is a legend, but chante did great as well.
I agree with this comment :)
Watch the full performance of klarisse on Wish 107 5
Came back. Loved the vid. Some talented people. Minnie’s still my fave, soft, sweet, effortless, enchanting. Chante’s voice and control is amazing. Different style completely, but amazing as well.
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Adam lopez: Shalalalalala😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣A whole Shalalala😪
7:27 = the best one😂
AHAHAHHAHA
Muahahahahha
🤣🤣
LMFAO
I'll see y'all in hell 🤣😂😅
well, I can't say that they all use whistle tone here... most of them attempt the notes using falsetto 🤔
Luthfiah Farsya Dini Mardi trueeee like wtf why are these people in here, the duo or the second clip didn’t even try doing it LOLLLL
Garreth EXONavarro ikr!!! omg why am I so mad 😂
Which is more difficult, falsetto up to F6 is more difficult to hit than wistle
@@Gisaround You have to understand that, runs with whistles are the hardest things ever.
@@crydoesstuff9155 It definitely is 😂
They were all amazing. But my top 3 are :
1- Minnie : she does it like nobody (the first one and the last one)
2- Zane : I just love the way she did it (10:08)
3- Ashley : I liked very much her version (8:13)
William RIVIERE isn’t it Jane
izabella may ope 🤭
Jane zhang*
Minnie Ripperton obviously! That being said, to my ears, Duong Hoang Yen, Shanice, Klarisse de Guzman, Ashley, Sydney Aterbridge, and Marina Elali did pretty well! Chante Moore didn't exactly follow along the same notes but I really liked how playful she was with them. Beautiful.
Minnie of course . But Chante Moore was amazing! But you can never take “THE BEST” from Minnie cause she was so 👏🏽
1:26 3:46 3:57 8:51 9:59
My top 5! They were really good
Be quiet don't cry the guy was good but the “ sha la la “ was funny
@@butterflyera765 ikr??? I loved his whistle part, but when Vengaboys heard his version, they went home and cried.
The first girls was doin TOOOO DAMN MUCH
I/2 of these could not even get the LA LA's right... edit!!
Chanté Moore's take on it (1:23) was crazy. She changed it up to fit her style and made it way better in my book.
The over embellishing really ruins it for me from some of these people
1:22 is slayed ‼️‼️‼️ she had the best by far. Her whistles were so strong and clear.
I have a few chante Moore CDs. She's good with her own style.
Thank you for putting Minnie at the beginning and the end... she was untouchable!! #RIP
Hands down Chante Moore. She made it her own and did an incredible job.
There’s no comparison to the naturalness of the one and only Minnie, so beautiful, her spirit shines through effortlessly with happiness and grace.
10:20 I love her rendition and after the pause she sounded so angelic
Yes Jane Zhang the Chinese diva slayed it.
love jane. beautiful voice
Franky she the only one who supported the note that why 😂
You said that right.
3:24 WTF??? LMFAO
Pines Universe I. Was screaming
she tried it
Better than u I bet
Candy Gurl NO JUST NO
Candy Gurl if ur going to do a cover do it well
It's nice to see a variety of male voices here
Nah
The original is soo chill and relaxing, she doesn't force her voice like the rest
Chantel Moore took it there and swam in that register.
Minnie makes it sound as natural as breathing.
Minnie of course!!!, Shanice, Klarisse, Georgia, Duong, ASHLEY OMG, Sydney, ALLY and Leah absolutely killed it omg!!!!
Lmao
Also its not messing with it.
Cristian Brarda ashley was also good
The fact that they can all hit that note is so impressive to me! Loved this, thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Some of them lower the key, the twins didn't even try to hit the whistle
Andrés N it’s still beautiful, I don’t sound like that when I sing. It’s very cool to see people excel at something.
It's amazing not everyone can hit a whistle note.
Chante Moore whistle just kept on whistling 🙌🏾 Props to Shanice (Lady in Bangs) who can hit every note run and whistle known to man!!
6. Beautiful, beautiful runner 😊
7. Jane Zhang - our alpha and omega girl 😊! Your ending is an opening, indeed. I think we should all have to sing this song ..... as a prerequisite ....
8. Mister GoLightly -- OUR FAN, my style of DELIGHTFUL HERO. YOU MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN. Perhaps you've sublimated yourself? I think so 😊 😊. People like you make the word Standing Ovation a true Oracle. You made it! Videos like this make me find out if I can feel enjoyment for people. I cried and smiled, and my heart breathed again because of this presentation. I'm standing, cheering for people like you. Makes me wish I could live forever. 💋 t h a n k you
Thank you! Thank you so much!! I kept smilling reading your comment. What a nice pair of words! You've made the rest of my day. Thanks for your positivity. Take care and have an awesome start of the year! 💜✨
Minnie Riperton - Maya Rudolph’s mom.
ds99 heck yeah! When I found out about this, it made sense to me how Maya actually has some singing chops
ds99 I knew it!!!
3:24 she really thought she did sum there huh LMFAOOOO
Minnie's the sweetest version! What she inadvertently did has never been imitated by so many who have tried and imitation is the highest form of flattery. She's sincere; some others are 'acting.' What an angel on earth, if only briefly.
There are inventors of songs and then there're excellent singers who can enhance original works with unique spins. Imagine what they all might be singing if Minner Ripperton had never created this song. This was an amazing collage of people who performed the song so well.
Modern versions are fine to listen to but Minnie sang with a purity and feeling that tells you in no uncertain terms how much she is in love and she will always be my choice .
