Bob Laishley was the Programme Director for Nissan Sports Cars for many years. He helped bring the Nissan 370Z, R35 GT-R, GT-R50 and Z35 Z-Proto (aka 400Z aka 2023 Nissan Z) to us Nissan fans.
I join him on a journey of rediscovering his first Nissan 370Z Nismo company car, a Litchfield Nissan 370Z Nismo with some specific Nismo upgrades. We drive up to collect the car from The GTR Heritage Centre, where it was being prepared for sale...
Bob reviews this 370Z's history, I tour the GTR Heritage Centre - where there's some of THE rarest JDM / Japanese import & tuner cars in the UK - and then Bob takes me for a drive, tells me why this 370Z is special and shares his thoughts on the new Z35 - the 2023 Nissan Z (some call it the 400Z) - based on the Z-Proto, his last project at Nissan before he retired.

I have owned sports cars all of my life, ending up with a 300ZX, 350Z, and a 370Z which is my favorite. I traded in a 370Z for a Cadillac ELR hybrid which was a beautiful car, but not as much fun to drive. Last year I moved into a condo building with a communal garage so I had no place to plug in the Cadillac, so I sold it and bought my second 370Z since I am not a fan of the new 2023Z. I am really not a fan of any retro styled cars, and would have rather seen something of an evolution of the 370Z. I am 73 now and retired so I don't drive nearly as much as I used to, and my 370Z might be my last car since it is getting more difficult to get in and out of it. Thanks for the interesting video!

It's funny hearing Bob's own 370Z was tuned by Litchfield.... I contacted them not long after purching our Z Nismo and was told there was nothing they could with them. 🤔

Thanks for watching! I guess it's all about timing. I'm not sure when they had theirs tuned. Maybe Litchfield either hadn't started or had stopped supporting the 370z at the time of your enquiry?

Yeah, it was back in June 2019. They said the 370Z was "already at its maximum" so they couldn't do anything with it 🤷🏻♂️ thank goodness for abbey motorsport 🙂

370z is the least produced z out of all the z models in U.S.. buy up!
They're also pretty rare in the UK. Especially the Nismo 😁
