I think it's worth mentioning some more facts on wetness. As you stated, the umbrella only provides 90% wetness resistance, which means that you need to combine it with another clothing item to get up to 100%. Most headgear (football helmet, straw hat, etc. but not a Tam O' Shanter) provides 20% resistance and so do some chest slot items. An umbrella and a football helmet make a nice combo if you don't have an eyebrella. The football helmet won't loose durability just from wearing it, an advantage over the straw hat, for example. You can only dry off (lower your wetness) if you have 100% resistance or higher. No matter how strong a fire you're standing next to is, you won't dry off unless you have that 100%. High wetness can also cause you to get cold faster. This is partially the cause of encountering freezing damage during spring, so watch out and stay dry.
There is a reason why I don't put everything in words within my guides, and this is it. I like to have folk like you add to it within the comments for interaction and community purposes! Plus, I am a STRONG believer in people needing to learn things themselves through gameplay. To me, it makes the experience better instead of just having some dude tell you everything.
@@TheBeard777 I agree - nothing beats putting it into practice. Personally, I got quite confused when I first figured encountered high wetness - "I'm holding an umbrella standing next to a roaring inferno, why can't I dry off?" I figured I'd bring it up just in case I'm not the only one.

Hey @The Beard 777. I've started playing with my girlfriend and we want to build a base like yours. However I'm thinking about summer and about the Ice Flingomatic. Where should we place it if we choose to have only one single base?
Well I can't really tell you exactly where as base layouts are always going to be different. As a general rule-of-thumb it is best to plan and think ahead so while you are planting saplings, berry bushes and grass think if a flingo can have the range to cover most, if not all, of your resources. Better yet, just place the flingo down somewhere and then begin planting as you'll be able to see the range of the flingo itself so you won't make the mistake of having parts of your base uncovered.
@@TheBeard777 I was thinking of respecting your layout as I don't want to do anything too big. So something similar like yours. I saw in the Summer Survival guide that you placed the Ice Flingomatic inside the berry bush farm, so I've got my answer from there. Thanks a lot anyway for answering, didn't expect to get a reply. Really appreciate the content and wish I'd play with you one day if you still play.
Well... not necessarily. WX actually wants the lightning strikes, and there are characters who go insane (and cold) more quickly from the wetness... I'd say it depends a lot more on individual play style, WX can cope with a tiny bit of drizzle, and a smart team would share the eyebrella based on the tasks being carried out.
Honestly it's kinda funny how he's going "Dig up shitton of grass, twigs and berry bushes and find a gear". Like it's that easy. Getting a full stone tool set feels like an achievement.
Resource/time management is second nature to me however it is certainly something new players need to get down ASAP or else their struggles will continue over, and over and over again.
The gears maybe not so much, but the rest (gathering resources) really is easy. Here's what I do. Do not - repeat, do NOT, no matter the temptation, try to set down any kind of camp or stop exploring in the first few days. Not even a campfire. Don't even bother getting wood! (Except to build your science machine.) Only a couple of torches are needed per night at this stage even if you're not trying to conserve them. Run around - including at night, with your torch - collecting everything you can pick up, eating berries, carrots and seeds. (If you're playing Wigfrid, just kill and eat the wildlife. She'll replace san loss from eating raw meat by her kills and picking flowers.) Treat it like Supermarket Dash not a day out in the park! Head to the edge of the starting biome and circle so you can map it out, do this with each biome to get a rough outline of the world map (always a kind of wobbly fidget spinner layout) and follow roads which are faster and generally lead right through the middle of the biomes; a paved road leads to the pig king! I guarantee you that doing this will get you all the resources you need to set up base like The Beard outlines, even the gold you need for the science machine, although you won't necessarily be lucky enough to find that by day 2. It's a good method of finding just about everything, including Chester, Glommer, the pig village, at least one chess set piece, beefalo, the Dragonfly... Then when you've got a pretty good idea of where all the major biomes are, and an inventory full of farming materials, you're good to pick your favourite spot to set up base! This could be in the centre so nowhere is too far to travel, near the savannah for easy rabbits and beefalo, or the birchnut biome for pigs, Glommer, moleworms and shrooms (my personal favourite). In no time, you will have a lovely base and no problem at all managing winter. Then Deerclops will come and show you what he thinks of you being all pro and surviving ;D Good luck!!
So I finally managed to kill deerclops for the first time. But then spring started immidiately after with frog rain which meant I couldn't gather my resources to craft the eye brella. I died
@@TheBeard777 I judge no-one, you are absolutely right, but I personally feel like using ice as filler is kind of cheating, since you couldn't cook like that irl... I don't use it except in recipes like ice cream where it's obvious. I will eat it to cool down in summer though! I know I'm making things harder for myself... and if playing with others, which stretches resources, I might reconsider, but I'm always waiting for Klei to nerf that one...
Hey beard, I almost never get to kill deerclops before winter ends, so I wanted to tell you about my spring strategy without the eyebrella. It's rather simple actually, an umbrella and grass hat do the exact same thing as the eyebrella, so it's pretty easy

Do you want to know a funny story that happened to ME?
I was walking through my world when i saw a suspicios pile of dirt so I decide to follow them.
I followed them until I've found a Koalaphant. HE run away to a tallbird fortress and was killed but the problem was I could not get The loot. The Rain started and I tried to kyte a rhino when........I was hit by Lightning And died.
FUUUUCK
I am playing wx and my way to go against rain is umbrela and straw hat or football/battle helmet bcz i still want that lightning strikes.
"heck, maybe get 2 lighting rods"
me, with 4 for my tiny little base: maybe it was a tad excessive.
You start in spring: panik
You’re wormwood:kalm
Just had a moose goose slaughter by frog rain there was like 1000 and she could only hit one at a time and was getting stun locked for most of it got 30 frog legs and 15 feathers
Why are your crockpots, fridge and birdcage so different? I think is beautiful and I want it
you know the little presents and chests you can open in the game? those can give you different skins for your items!! they usually come as a seasonal thing, like Christmas for example. just look out for those!! and when you make an item in the game, if you have a skin, there will be a little arrow under the ingredients that it needs where if you press it, you can craft it looking like that
A frog rain happened in my world, and I was near some bees at the time.
I got:
40 frog legs
23 Bee Stingers
And I don’t know how much honey I got from the abandoned hives.
I have a challenge for you!Survive 100 days with Vortox. On world with land branch never and land loop always
6:28 a Frozen burning hound lol
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
the world is round
this is a nice guide automatic grass Gekko farm using Chester/10
If you really struggle with frog rain caves are an easy solution.
Two winters in a row, I havent had a deerclops spawn. The Eyebrella really makes or breaks spring lmao
6:20
Fwequently
I’m sorry I can’t get over it
You forgot to mention in dst its a fight on who gets the eye but WX-78 ALWAYS gets it if you have a smart team.
Well... not necessarily. WX actually wants the lightning strikes, and there are characters who go insane (and cold) more quickly from the wetness... I'd say it depends a lot more on individual play style, WX can cope with a tiny bit of drizzle, and a smart team would share the eyebrella based on the tasks being carried out.
1:35 a better crockpot formation is this:
a a a
a h h a
a h a
a key= a crockpot | h fridge
Thanks for using Willow. Soon she'll be reworked!
That's why I did it!
I love your videos so much i have seen every guide and i will continue
Sweethomealabama SAME
At early days of Spring you still can freeze at night or just being a tiny bit wet
Me and my friend just ran around away from base until frog rain stopped xd
Video is about spring but the season at the start of the video is autumn
hMm

Thanks
Welcome!
Everybody: talks about spring stuff
Me: did he said the a number higher then the word twice
"Lightning strikes are far more likely in spring then any other time in Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together."
Hurricane: Am i a joke to you
Shipwrecked is its own world pretty much... that version is NOTHING like the others! :D
It's kinda true but they are still part of the Constant somewhat given the similar seasons to each
Springs easy to survive.
Unless your play SP like I do and spawn in it. Then it's a gauntlet.
So I finally managed to kill deerclops for the first time. But then spring started immidiately after with frog rain which meant I couldn't gather my resources to craft the eye brella. I died
Frog Rain is one of the most dangerous, most disruptive mechanics in the entire franchise's history, no joke.
The skin you are using looks like someone wanted to be Wednsday Addams for Halloween, but saw the ovie a decade = ago, but decided to go by memory =p
Me and my cousin just finally survived deerclops tho r food is running short x.x it's day 30 and ima get to the ice collecting asap xD
Ice is the MVP of Don't Starve, let no one tell you otherwise!
Very nice!
I’m spending most of spring building a cave base for summer
Hey beard, I almost never get to kill deerclops before winter ends, so I wanted to tell you about my spring strategy without the eyebrella.
It's rather simple actually, an umbrella and grass hat do the exact same thing as the eyebrella, so it's pretty easy
Does this change if you are wormwood? Since he looses a lot of sanity by digging stuff up. And sometimes it seems like he likes rain?
I started in spring and not in automn oops
dont say any means... killing him with gunpowder burns thy eye
can you make summer guide ? today i just died because of summer and also how can i grow up the withered saplings?
Summer guide coming soon!
