Alright, let's clarify something that I honestly thought many folk knew about already but I guess not...! :D In solo DS, it's okay to wear two armor pieces usually. In DST, damage is distributed two both pieces of armor at the same time and still calculates mitigation and actual damage taken differently. In other words, just use single pieces of armor in DST and know you'll be good with double in DS. You will damage both pieces of armor if you get hit while wearing them, meaning you are lowering the durability of two, separate armors at once. So, again, in DON'T STARVE TOGETHER it is a slight no-no to wear two armors but you'll be better off doing so in solo DON'T STARVE.
I know they want to balance the game around multiplayer so that everything isn't too easy, but it really aggravates me that armor protection doesn't multiply in DST like it does in vanilla.
Huh I really didn't know that. So I've been basically doing it wrong the whole time, struggling to have both head and body gear at the same time. Quick question though, does speed stack? Like the walking cane and amulet? I'm sure you mentioned it in one of your videos but by Wilson's beard, I can't remember...
Actually, as some extra info on armor stacking: Armor does kinda stack in DST, but not in the same way as it does in DS In DST, armor only stacks when it comes to durability, not protection So, for example: If you're wearing a Log Suit with 100% durability, and you get hit by a Deerclops (75 damage), you take 15 damage, and your armor takes 60 damage, which corresponds to 19% of its durability On the other hand, if you're wearing a Log Suit and a Football Helmet, and you get hit by a Deerclops, you take 15 damage, and your armor takes 60 damage, but, since you're wearing 2 pieces, the damage is divided between them, so the Log Suit takes 30 damage, and the Football Helmet takes the other 30 (which corresponds to 9,5% of their durability) So yea, wearing the 2 pieces of armor together does not waste more armor than wearing them separately, but it also does not increase your protection
The damage still gets distributed between the two making them essentially last a lot shorter than they would otherwise so again; In solo DS, it's okay to wear two armor pieces usually. In DST, damage is distributed two both pieces of armor at the same time and still calculates mitigation and actual damage taken differently. In other words, just use single pieces of armor in DST and know you'll be good with double in DS.
The tankiest you can POSSIBLY be is Wolfgang full stomach thulcite crown and night armor/marble suit and a dish to give extra defense and garlic powder
Well, you didn't exactly waste them Armor does stack in DST, but not in the same way it does in DS In DST, armor only stacks in terms of durability So, when you use a Log Suit and Football Helmet together, the damage taken will be divided between them, so they'll last longer than if you were wearing them separately
Thank you for an awesome guide! Two suggestions for guides for a noob like me: A guide just like this but for food. Okay, I think I have a some-what way of using the grass suit viably. What if, In DS, along with a battle helm/football helmet/thulecite crown/anything with decent damage absorption, you use a grass suit as well? It would stack the effects, I’m pretty sure. Although, I usually just use the body-slot for a storage item (If I’m lucky, a Krampus Sack).

Asking for a full playthrough of Winter/Winter Prep or something seems a bit outside the scope of the channel, I think the tutorial works fine. As a fairly bad player myself though, this is all you really need to do in order to get through Winter: #1: Make sure you have a food source. The simplest way for a new player to survive Winter is just to keep a Crockpot on standby, and make Meatballs using the abundant ice in wintertime. (1 of any meat item + 3 fillers like Ice) #2: Make sure you can stay warm. Thermal Stones are easy to make and everyone in Winter/Summer should carry one. Certain characters like Wilson and Willow can fight back the cold. Ideally, you want to shave a bunch of Beefalo while they sleep so you can make a Winter Hat (or better yet beefalo hat), but Rabbit Earmuffs can also work if you're not experienced enough, and even without warm clothing you CAN still get by on just a thermal stone. *Make sure you always have enough logs and grass to place a temporary campfire if you ever start freezing.* #3: Prepare for Deerclops. The easiest way a new player can deal with him is to just leave their base during the last few days of Winter, that way if he does show up you can just run away. As long as you do those three things, you can survive Winter and it's a lot easier than it seems. Winter's true challenge is taking advantage of all the things that happen during it (eg. getting a Walking Cane, getting an Ice stockpile, killing Deerclops...) but surviving it just takes a little know-how.
i think football helm should have 75% damage reduction so it makes the battle helmet better in comparison and log Armour not useless unless in early season changes like winter before you get a puffy jacket, unless they make a bag that can go on your head, there isnt any point in creating a log suit when a helmet with cheaper materials, the same durability, the same protection, and the ability to wear bags in combination with it with the added bonus of a 20% water reduction exists. it needs some sort of pay off because its basically better in every way compared to the log suit unless you need specific items on your head like an eyebrella.
All armor is on dst wiki and all what he said is on wiki but still i enjoy this video but on video i can more learn then just on wiki and ofc on wiki is not everything
You forgot Bramble Husk, the Wormwood craft. While it's not very protective with what I believe 70% protection, it's a perfect utility item making cacti, spiky bush and rose picking cause no damage. It also damages the foes that attack you with AOE so its ideal for murdering underground hentai collumns. Also while armors don't stack their protection, they stack with their durability so while it's not very efficient to stack two armors with same shtick like wood armor and football helmet, it certainly does pay off to mix and match some since you'll be benefitting from the higher protection regardless. You can make your Bramblr husk last much longer and benefit from 80/90% damage reduction with wearing a good head armor with it. In opposite, since grass armor is so cheap to craft, you can make your head armor last longer by wearing that too, as it'll distribute half the durability cost on grass suit, taking much less from head armor.
