Excellent video. As a younger man I stood at the entrance of the palace on Rhodes. Magnificent. As you pointed out, the state of preservation is one of its key assets.
Cruel irony for me is that I was born on the site of a Roman fort, now long gone; and am around 20 minute's drive to 2 medieval castles, both slighted in the civil war. To add insult to injury, a 3rd, 12th century effort appears to have been abandoned unfinished. All that remains is the mound.
It's a good job I have an imagination! (I'm imagining myself back in Mandraki harbour...)

The Kastro of Chora, Astypalaia was said to be founded by Giovanni Querini in 1209, having been assigned to him by Marco Sanudo, conquerer of Naxos. While construction of the castle was begun at that time, Querini's son continued the work, and as a Venetian trading outpost, it lasted for some 300 years, up to the 17th century, before submitting to Turkish rule.

@@MedievalWargamer Excellent video, ο φίλος μου, and you have so many other scholarly works on your Playlist! It would be of interest to learn of the ancient acropolises found on these sites. For the Astypalaia and Naxos castles you can see many carved stones from an earlier Greek civilization used in the construction.

The Palace of the Grandmaster on Rhodes is impressive. Some years ago I visited a friend on Malta and saw what the Knights were able to do if they had time to plan and built a city as a fortress.

The history of the period of Frankish(well mostly Italian and Spanish) rule over parts of Greece during the 14th and 15th centuries is so overlooked in popular medieval studies. I only learned about it via historical fiction by an author Christian Cameron who has a series of novels that follow an fictional young English squire William Gold from the Battle of Potiers, serving a a donat (a non monk secular man at arms who served alongside the Knights of a military orders in this case the Hospital less) being knighted in the wars between the Italian city states while a member of what would become White Company led John Hawkwood, then marrying a Savoyard noble woman and becoming a Baron in the Alps then on to the crusade to Alexandria due obligation the Knights Hospitaller, and adventures in Greece due to a series of complex feudal ties he has he ends up a vassal of both Count Amadeus IV of Savoy(a cousin of the Emperor), king Peter of Cyprus(who he saved during the fighting in Egyptq) and his friendship with Nerio I the Florentine Lord of Athens.
Its a fun series of books

I've been to lepanto, mystras, and thessaloniki castles, among others not in this list. There are late medieval (byzantine, venetian, ottoman) all over mainland Greece. Just drive through the countryside and you will find numerous castles on your way.
