I've searched for half an hour and can't find any illustrator videos on this topic with someone talking. It would be a big improvement if you talk in the video.
I do that too, and you just create squares or in his case he did rounded squares, and fill them with each of the colors you will use. And then you can just use the eyedropper tool to make anything on your artboard the color you have in your color palette. And if you wanted to, you could just screenshot the video and use the eyedropper tool to get all of the original colors.
Just create any shape with the rectangular tool, and then fill the shape with a color. Do it again several times but in different shades a color, then you can have a color palletes in the side of your worksheet.
I love and appreciate every illustrator tutorial videos. However, a feature that it seems lacking in most of them is as simple as providing the color palette used. It takes little effort for the authors and can make a big difference (even if one is pretty good at picking colors "on sight"). Nice content anyway :)
