I think you're right. I hadn't even heard of it 'til a week ago and I binge-watched both series. Didn't know what to make of it for the first 2-3 episodes but I ended up hooked and it just got better and better. I cannot wait for the next series.

Because he was in Australia.
Specifically, the (fictional?) St John's University in Sydney.
As English is the language spoken in Australia, there is no reason for Chidi to be speaking anything else.
Not sure why he still has an American accent though.
MattTheTubaGuy in the first episode when chidi and Eleanor meet, he explains that he’s speaking French and that “the good place” was translating their conversation so they could understand each other!
Same thought I had! but it might just be that he prefers to speak French, not that he doesn't speak any English.
His primary language is french but he teaches in english , cause australia .

Kristen is a lucky charm. Good Place was/is a hit, Bad Moms was also a hit, and Zootopia, Frozen was absolutely a huge hit.
Unfortunately Veronica Mars was cancelled way too early :(

There is a big chance that Hulu will be reviving Veronica Mars for a 13 episode season. Not a reboot, but with Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell, Enrico, everyone should be returning.

Nothing gets stretched out because this set of comedians only agreed to 13 episodes per year. Makes for a fast paced, fast resolution comedy.
Not just (really?) that. Mike Shur has said that they always want to get to a plot point before the audience is expecting it.
like Brit tv. One of my favorite jokes from the show is when Tahani is talking about the show that's been on 30 years and has almost 16 episodes.
