I love the passion at the end, I couldn't agree more about the amex debacle, I have a feeling they will change some of the announced changes before its all in stone.
Unfortunately Delta makes over 6 Billion from their partnership. So Delta loses money flying passengers and only profits because of Amex. While I know they need to slow this partnership down, it's the only reason Delta is still alive. I've downgraded my card and stopped spending on it so they feel the pain. Hopefully others do too!
This is my first time watching one of your videos and it is very well done! I feel the same as I carry the Delta Reserve. Even though they have updated the changes to allow 15 visits, with 3 visits in one day counting as 1, it still doesn’t make sense to keep this card as the miles earned are worthless. I’m thinking about downgrading to the Delta Blue card and switching to the Amex Platinum. Any thoughts switching to the Amex Platinum? Also, you mentioned doing a status match with another carrier. Can you share which carrier you have switched to? Thanks for the great video!
I've been an AMEX Delta Platinum member for years and flown more miles on Delta than I can remember. That being said; I cancelled the card, fly United or American exclusively now and sold all my stock in DAL, (before it tanked). Nothing I have done will affect their bottom line in any way but it was gratifying and I damn sure feel better! 😆
I spend enough to hit silver medallion and with the reserve card an option for upgrade and lounge access... they hit on both spots for me. I'm switching to united from here on
You'd get way more benefits for the same spend. Plus if you get star alliance gold, definitely checkout the first class lounge in Frankfurt! It's so nice!
Yes but there are a lot less of those than sky clubs. Most airports I travel to have sky clubs and not centurion lounges. And the centurion lounges are usually more crowded
For sure, I was referencing the Delta Amex cards in this video, but I have the regular platinum card so when I'm not on Delta or Alaska I still have lounge access no matter what airline.
Part of me thinks that it was probably too easy to earn status in the first place. You are essentially diluting the value of those membership tiers to those who actually do a lot of business with the airline. People are just upset they cant get lounge access anywhere, which they had no business being in anyways.
I totally agree! I've been flying other airlines the last year and I've been surprised at how good they are! Especially Asian or European carriers! Delta is very detached from reality!
💯 Instead of providing any additional benefits for loyalists - Delta keeps taking them away. I'll still fly with them when warranted (best/cheapest flight option) but my loyalty is out the door! Am curious to know if this was driven by Delta or AMEX. Guess there's still a year left to enjoy what's left of status benefits 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the info + video!
Thank you! If you have status you should match to another airline. I matched to Alaska a couple years ago and it really changed my perspective on loyalty. I've been able to fly Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, and BA a couple times, all in business. Simply because of Alaska's great mileage redemptions! On the other hand my Delta miles bought me coach from Florida to New York and that's about it. 😂 Delta doesn't have first class lounges internationally, they offer worse million miler benefits, limited Skyclub, the list just goes on and on.... Delta is a mess and I'm over it.
The non cobranded card does not accumulate MQDs, however if you spend 250k per year on a non Delta Amex card, you'd be earning membership rewards points that are way more valuable than Delta SkyPesos. The 44k point KLM flight in business was booked with points that I transferred from Amex. So missing some MQDs from a Delta card is fine by me because 250k+ MR points is worth many many business class trips!

I'm a Platinum flyer with Delta and I'm done. Also out with the AMEX Delta platinum credit card. The numbers do not work now. .
Time to status match and start feeling appreciated again!

If I have a Reserve card, and have a flight on say Jetblue, do I have access to Delta Sky Club Lounge? Ty
There's always the Centurion lounge by AMEX (When you have the PLATINUM CARD )

@@mjsabie8517 they do have long waits, however the Sky clubs are also having very long waits especially in ATL and JFK!
@@jmantravels never been through JFK but using the Delta app I can usually find at least 1 sky club at Atlanta that is not overly busy

Who did you go to for status match? American or United? Did you call them or they call you?
I did an Alaska status match in 2020, and recently a United status match. I applied for both online
First class on Delta is absolutely rubbish. Too think I’m going to spend 35K to keep Diamond? They are dreaming.

@@jmantravels Alaska & JetBlue have crazy status match offers right now. Thanks for much for the info!
The platinums is useless for mqds

Cheaper price.
