I've been to Hidden / Secret Lagoon and Krauma on two previous trips. I'm going to Reykjavik this October and will be going back to Sky Lagoon. The view of the city from the infinity pool is really fantastic!
Thanks for the alternative ideas. We wanted something less touristy so visited Krauma and loved it. Once again, your videos helped us plan the perfect trip!
Spas and pools were our favorite thing in Iceland. Our favorite spas were Laugervatn Fontana and Krauma (we didn't get far enough north to go to Myvatn, and thought that Secret Lagoon was only so-so). Laugervatn was amazing, and we did jump in the lake - brrr! Krauma was gorgeous. They were both truly memorable experiences. We also loved the municipal pools in Reykjavik, Selfoss, Vik, and Hofn. The spas are mostly visitors, but the pools are a great way to spend time with Iceland residents.
I'd love to see Myvatn. The Secret Lagoon is so beautiful. It's like having your own Yellowstone. We'd recommend the pool at Hofsos too. That view can't be beat.
Having soaked in over 200 primitive hot springs in the Great American Desert, I find that the many primitive hot springs in Iceland to be every bit as wonderfully soakable. The resorts are ok, too. Time for more coffee.
Thank you so much! We are here now and I just uploaded my hotel review. My big sister will do the travel vid but it’s not up yet. 🙂 Thanks again for the tips. Da-da!
Hello Jeannie, Your videos have been so helpful - we are two 70+ ladies taking a 33 day cruise and will be in Reykjavik June 5, plus Isafjordur on June 6, Akureyri on June 7, and Seydisfjodur on June 8. My question is which lagoon would be the best and closest and to which port, and do we really need to make reservations ahead of time, or will there be tour buses at the port to use day of ??? Thank you in advance from New York!!!!!!
Hi Eileen! Thanks so much for watching! There are a few different ports in Reykjavik so you may be better off asking your cruise line for more details and options for transport around each town. In short, the closest lagoon in Reykjavik would be Sky Lagoon, Isafjordur - town swimming pool, Akureyri - Forest Lagoon, Seydisfjordur - town swimming pool. For more information and sights in each of these towns check out my Ring Road Travel Guide and my Westfjords digital map: icelandwithaview.com/product-category/diy/ ~ Happy planning!
Once again, thanks for your energy and your tips, Jeannie. I'll be going in September and will find out how to get to those 5 places. I am staying in Reikjavik for 15 days in September and no car. Can you talk in one video about how to get around when one is staying in Reikjavik for a couple of weeks or more? Gracias, guapa!
The Reykjavik City Cards are pretty great if you're there for a few days. Unlimited bus fare, access to the museums, the zoo, and the pools. But they're available in 1 to 3 days so pack in a lot of fun in those days.
I’ll be at Secret Lagoon next week with a tour group. I don’t plan on participating. Is there anything to do there if you don’t plan on soaking? Like seating or anything? Thanks Jeanie! Love your videos.
Jeannie, I love your videos and I still haven't visit your web site! Your tips are super! We will go in late December and I was surprised to know that we only have 4 hours of sun light.... Therefore we are trying to get the best out of dark hours aswell. Are these pools open until what time? Thanks a lot for all your help!!!! :*****
I see you say Myvatn is less expensive but on the websites the blue lagoon is $21.38 for me and my 12 year old sons free, but Myvatn is $44.17 for us both!!😖
I took a very expensive trip to japan for a geo thermal experience, to find out that tatoos are a no-no apparently, tatoos are associated with criminal gangs there. I am heavily tatted from neck to toes. So was not allowed in any thermal pools. Is their any no-no's that a foreigner should know before spending 10 grand on an experience that may not happen because of ignorance of customs or rules?

Great video. What about Vok Bath in the east and the Hrunalaug hot spring? Thanks,
Have been at Myvatn, great place there. And priceless the Reykjadalur natural river ;)
Myvatn at the end of the month. I have been re-watching all of your videos getting ready for my trip.
Awesome, you're going to be so prepared!
Hi, thanks for the helpful alternatives. Can the Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon be combined in a one day trip in your experience?
What about GEOSEA thermal pool? Any thoughts? thanks,
