    Sounds like a very small Chinese city, yet it looks so clean, modern and friendly. Amazing.

    Welcome to Dongying Guangrao. This is my hometown ,a 4 tier city,not large not modern but beautiful and peaceful. This is where Yellow River goes into the sea. A lot of migratory birds will visit here which is worthy to be checked out. Hope you enjoy your time here.

      ☺Thank you so much Jay. I have yet to tell Mike and the Miamisburg crew that I will not be in Miamisburg this summer unfortunately. I guess you are the first to find out this way. I wanted to make sure I was set up here before announcing this news. I will likely make a short post on the spintop forums to let them know in the coming days. Thanks for watching and I am liking your Miamisburg video uploads too :)

      @@MarkLeithead I was going to tell the Tops crew... didn't you know that Mark is living and working in China now? lol, you are on a much bigger adventure now than trying to cross the border with the tops in tow. Take care and enjoy Mark.
      I look forward to your next vid

    I can sense your excitement in the video, good on you mate! I lived in China between1999-2014 and can say the development the country went through I saw during that time was just out of this world. Nowadays I come to China a couple of times a year for a holiday. Around 10 years ago I knew a guy who moved to China with nearly nothing and now has his own successful consulting business, all I can say is that just hang in there, enjoy your life and grab on any opportunity you can get! Learn to speak Chinese as early as you can and accept the differences you encounter in your daily life. Don't try to change China, allow China to change you. Also, I think skateboarding on those private property and streets might be viewed as a nuisance, check with your local friends first :)

      Very cool :D Yes the development seems quite significant. I am lucky to have this opportunity today. I am happy for your experience and thanks for the message :D

    That was fast! already out there! I would try to make local friends with people that know english quick that would teach me the community here. China is so huge. Wait until you see a lot of the fancy buildings in China. 100+ floors up, every floor with fancy walls and glass. It makes the USA and Canada look poor. I'm glad you are experiencing this! Forget these basic jobs over here in the west.

      Thanks so much man, you were the one to inspire me (and maybe convince 😅) me to go and come here. I appreciate the awesome comment and yes I will take it to heart. I met the other English teachers at the school, they are all very nice and said they are happy to meet and speak with another native English speaker as in their home country 🙂👍👍

    Dude its trippy that you showed up without knowing any Chinese. Very brave of you. If you had showed up in a first tier city, then I would say, No Problem. But good luck to you. Please keep us updated.

      Haha yeah true. Few people speak enough English for a conversation, and many do not speak any English at all. My phone translator app has saved me and allowed me to converse with locals at a more than superficial level :)

    The fact that you can hear cars honking tells you that you're in a "real" city. That as supossed to big cities like Shanghai or Shenzhen were all the cars are quiet.

    Glad you are enjoying & happy to be in China. However, it maybe a good thing if you can cut down the expression of "fucking, freaking". I'm sure your students will admire their teacher from Canada & will be following you on your vlogs & thought its cool. They will probably think there is no other description for anything other than these foul words. I'll be "fucking & freaking" upset when my kids come home speaking like this & tell me they learn it from their teacher.

      I paid 180 rmb, pretty expensive but it's good quality. They gave me a discount of 20 rmb which I was not expecting 🙂

    How did you get an English teaching job? Qualifications?

    • @MarkLeithead
      @MarkLeithead  4 месяца назад +1

      Hello! They require a Bachelor Degree now from a University unfortunately. This is a big barrier for many and I myself don't agree with it, but the government needed me to verify my degrees with the Apostille service. I found the job on teachaway.com and I got my TEFL from teflhero.com for $50 - $100 USD. Check out teachaway.com for jobs, maybe some will not require a Bachelor Degree from a University. Some jobs require a Teacher's College Degree too, which I do not have, but English teaching does not require this. Thanks and all the best of luck to you 🙏🙏
