ive over spent on mechanics giving bad advise on my 2000 silverado. I just spent over 5k on my truck. 3k at one auto place and 2k at another place. Still having problems with brakes and oil leaks. Now my ac isn't working and im giving youtube a try before I spend another thousand dollars to get that fixed. Glad I dont have a truck payment but maybe I need one to get away from all these problems...

Thanks for this. This is exactly what happened today to my 2010 colorado. I found that gear through the glove box and saw exactly what you have in your video. CHEAP FI X FOR THE REPAIR
I found out that restarting my truck reset the system and it then would again work properly. This caused me to realize it was an electrical problem. I found a ten amp fuse under the hood marked HVC-ECAS, varified pulling it shut off the ac light under the ac control inside. I lifted the fuse panel, cut the wire to the fuse, soldered two wires to the two ends, brought them inside and to a NC button that now serves as a reset button. IT WORKS GREAT! Cheap repair.

I have a 2007 Silverado 1500 far as I know from 04-07 AC resistor problems if you know your a_c was working fine it's going to probably be the resister check that first it's located where your blower fan is its on the passenger side, you will see a wire harness going to the plastic blower tube, unscrew the usually to screws, pull it out you might see it burnt you might not the wire usually will look melted unplug the harness and look inside where it plugs into you should see a couple prongs melted with the plastic this will usually be a problem if your heater comes on and you have your AC on don't go to Chevy dealers you will pay 50 for each I went to o'reillys and got both of them 64 dollars don't just get a resistor if the plug is melted a little bit you will have problems with it later anyways get both don't be cheap

@mrjost55 You are right. Shop owners should provide vehicle owners a service bay and tools and guidance, all for free and let them see if they can fix it themselves.
The owner is probably out an hour labor fee at most, instead of the fee for R&R a compressor or evaporator, system evacuate and recharge, so what's your problem?

I have a 02 Silverado 2500hd and I took it in for Ac work due to I was told that the AC clutch was bad. I had mechanic check it out and he replaced the compressor, condenser, flushed it & new valves I believe. I still have hot air blowing and he's telling me that me that the cause is that my trucks to lifted and the fan that in front isn't cooling down the return air? He removed my stock fan & put in some used dual fan but I was told new but I played along with it. Now my truck is over heating & the AC is still not working & blowing hot air. I was told $600 for everything but now I'm up to $1000 on just AC work that not even working right. The rucks over heating, no AC and I have some ugly used dual fan that wired like crap to a switch inside that I have to turn on & off manually he said? He still has my truck but I'm taking it back & I might take a legal matter not since not my truck has more issues then when it went in. All this for HOT air!!!

Looks like an excellent fix, but what stops it from popping back out of the retainer again? Wouldn't it be wise to at least put a small zip tie on the retainer to prevent this from happening again?
Of course a lot of techs would want to sell a blend door repair, not just to jam someone for "unnecessary repairs", but to avoid a comeback and irate customer even if their intention for reattaching the gears to the blend door was to save the customer money.
If it stays, you've made a customer for life, but if it doesn't; you've gone from being a hero to a zero no matter how honest of a tech you might be. And yes, I have 41 years in the auto repair business myself.
It might stay on there for a long time, it might even stay there long enough to sell the vehicle, but it popped loose for a reason. Popping it back in place doesn't address the reason it came off in the first place.
    Just saying. ;-)

David, a clue is that you can get it to run with the relay. Relay's need to be commanded on, and that means there are requirements that must be met first. A review of the wire diagram should help you with that.

quick question, quick answer. It sounds like it is capable of creating the cold which indicates it is NOT a problem with the compressor or refrigerant level. That leaves a distribution of the cold air as the problem. Other than that the quick answer needs hands on testing.

My 2001 one ton chevy compressor won't come on. I has plenty of refrigerant. Jumped clutch cycling switch, still no compressor. Fuse in panel is good. Interchanged AC relay with horn relay (which works, same relay), still no compressor. Could the problem be in the dash controls? Here everything seems to be working, but the compressor clutch gets no voltage. Any suggestions.

did you ever figure out what was going on with your ac. im having the same problem checked power everywhere and only thing not getting power is the relay 85 that goes to ac controls (2001 silverado 2500hd)

+Ritchiemomitchie It works now heat and cool air I hAd to turn on and off fan button. Also had a blowout on a fuse . I urge people to check your fuses first if something is not working.

My ac pump cycles on and off on and off and blows hot. The temp switch changes from hot to cold. When I unplug the relay it turns the pump off and the fuse is good. When I unplug the pressure sensor it turns the ac pump off. Any ideas
