Great video! I'm traveling to Medellin soon and this is really helpful! Obviously every place has a good and bad side, it's all about learning how to stay away from the bad things. Once you figure that out you can make things a lot more enjoyable.
I am originally from Brazil but grew up in the USA. Met a Colombian girl in Medellin last December and I will only date Colombian women going forward. Never in my life I thought I would ever get married but I am proposing to her in August. Medellin is the place to meet quality women, period.

I'm Colombian and, while I agree with most that is being said in the video, I disagree with the part about open relationships. Do not make yourself wrong expectations.
Firstly, Colombia has a big array of really different cultures, so every city would feel really different to one another (Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla...). Secondly, most of the women interested in meeting/hanging out with foreign travelers are from low-to-mid income backgrounds, and many of them do it just with the intention of just having a good time in fancy places they wouldn't afford otherwise or to get a potential green card out of the country. You'd rarely see medium/high income women, professionals, trying to flirt with foreign dudes unless they are up to something formal.
Lastly, back to the initial point, Colombia is still a really conservative country. You'd rarely get a one night stand. Girls prefer to get to know you, before getting down to sex. It could take from a couple of dates to weeks of dating, depending on the girl, specially in non-touristic cities.
And, although some women would be up to casually hooking up while being in a relationship, I'm more than sure that it'd be more possible that she's cheating rather to she being in an open relationship.

The title of your video is correct, that foreigners are going to get themselves into trouble because they will get involved with the easy and wrong ladies, because they are not really immersed into the conservative mainstream culture. I know a thing or two about Colombian women.. They're far more caring than most women in the U.S., etc, etc..Personally, there has never been a problem for me.. But, realize men.... If you're not very attractive and suddenly a beautiful, young Colombian lady is interested in you, red flags should go up!

🤨Nowadays It's NOT very rare to be drugged robbed and maybe get disabled by females in Colombia, this happens to colombians too, I myself meet this of criminal females that tried to drug me in Colombia, my colombian friend told me his 2 friends got drugged in a bar by strangers and transported to all ATMs to steal their money and his car.
Beside that Colombia in general is dangerous, a lot of men look like criminals, they have been in war for 50 years so you can imagine.
And also the females that will not drug you will want to take advantage of you in any way possible, not because they love you.
And people live in misery like in the video and are disparate to get some money and don't care about other people, there is not social cohesion.
So Colombia is really not worthy.

For a guy, I think it's a good idea to have trustworthy male friends to stay safe in Colombia, but also to filter out undesirable people. Travelling solo and looking for girls, pro or not, makes you an obvious target, imo.
I live in Costa Rica now and have several friends here from Medellin and they say the exact same thing...as do a lot of videos on the topic. As a single guy who enjoys going to bars by myself, I would not visit there without one of my Colombian friends.Good advice.

This is the most awesome, authentic video I've seen in Medellin. Most are in filmed in the fancy areas. This video was amazingly real, exploring the neighborhood up on the side of the mountain. I spent 4 months traveling in India in 1986-87 so I appreciate the authenticity.

You always have to be careful and aware of your surroundings but I have been to Medellin about 7 times now and I feel safer there than I do in most other countries I have ever traveled to and this includes my home country, USA. I met my wife there and we are celebrating 10 years of marriage in 2 weeks. The people are beautiful. There's good and bad everywhere but Medellin will be our future home, once I retire.

Comuna 13 has never been safe, even now. Locals don't want tourists coming by their neighborhood to stare at them like animals. A guy reported getting robbed at gun point in the past 2 weeks, and he was with a sightseeing group.
Colombia is relatively safe as long as you use your head. Experienced international travelers knows what I mean. The girls are not dangerous when you man up, but when you act like a simp and gullible, you become a target.
The advice about drinks is spot on. Only bottled drinks that you open or are opened in front of you. BTW- "normal girls" don't drug guys. The ones that scope guys are usually whores.
Tourists need to stay TF out of comunas.

Medellin seems amazing, but if you as the hospitals and the cops, they will tell you that drugging/robbery is nor rare. They say it is common and "epidemic" in Medellin.

Great take on things Coco Boy. I visited three times, Medellin, Cartagena and Barranquilla. Beautiful country with very loving friendly people. As for the beauty I agree but also have to acknowledge Colombia is the number one place in the world for cosmetic surgery. You can thank Colombia for all the fake butts, boobs that you see around the world especially the US now. They also are know for dental tourism as it is much cheaper than the US.
I went with my girlfriend but I have to tell you I kept my head on a swivel. There is too many guys just standing on corners watching or observing people. You can not go around with jewelry or talking on an iphone. If you do, you are asking to be robbed or worse still lose your life.
One thing i do appreciate about Colombians is they are not afraid to show who they are. I am African and live in the US, in both societies sometimes people are so concerned about how they look to others and so hide a lot. In Colombia its in your face and you decide which route to take. I think it makes it safe especially for the girls who unfortunately or fortunately engage in prostitution. Unlike the US where prostitution is illgeal hence a lot of girls are trafficked and used by pimps, in Colombia that is illgeal so the girls enjoy the fruits of their labor for lack of a better word.
My last word to you, please do not let your guard down as there is always danger lurking in Colombia. No doubt about that. Also, since you are in Medellin take a chance to get on the cable cars that are suspended in the air and go to Parque Arvi or something like that. Its a huge fantastic park for hiking and nature. If you take a bus or taxi to Guatape you can climp the rock or el penol de Guatape. When you get to the top you will see all the dammed water below, an amazing view, you will love it.

You have that right abiout living like the local people. I live in Costa Rica and do that a 7 bed/5 bath house on 23 acres I rent for $153 a month. But know of so many Amricans living on $3600 a month and renting $1500 a month homes. And it ruins the economy of locals.

problem is a lot of gringos go to Colombia cold turkey having not established a network with locals.
there are locals doing tourism tours now and have an established rep and profile by word of mouth.
many of these locals will give you the lowdown. additionally gringos underestimate the fact that learning the language helps give you a gateway to the culture and there you csn meet a sincere woman who is not into gringo hook up pay for play.
these ladies and family will respect that you at least tried to learn the language and embrace the culture.
