his character is so unique and the first of this type of character which developed into a somewhat cliche member of a group decades later, the goofy, head-first, always creating poblems type character who you dont like at first but you learn to love him. masterfully acted.
This movie has a buncha archetypes that would go on to later inspire other action movies, in particular the leaders introduction, it is one of the first scenes to introduce a "badass hero type" that deals with a problem unrelated to the overall plot in a swift way showing his power and skill early on without exposition.
@@stefano4170 yeah, as soon as he appeared to watch Kambei deal with the thief he already stole the show a little. Man was genuinely happy that justice was served and truly respected the mature samurai in his own way

Kikuchiyo is that one dnd party member that doesn't fit the group alignment, but you need him because he's a front liner
Kikuchiyo is funny
He’s funny as hell.
Yeah, I was really rooting for him at the end
Kikuchiyo really was the soul of the film
Agree, i was so pissed when he was killed at the end..
@@sasaterzicprod.22 That was the whole point though, he was the only true "samurai" among them, though he was no samurai
This clip has meme potential, but I guess it would not be tasteful to make a meme out of a small scene from a Kurosawa film.
You can make memes out of anything. It's a sign that you love that thing
Not tasteful? I’d say it would be great honor for Kurosawa’s work to be remembered enough to even appear as meme form.
@@kaijuslayer3334true, it's the same thing they did with breaking bad
