Nothing is as beautiful as a morning swim at 7am with our grandmother, we are enjoying every minute with her as we know soon we have to leave again. This holiday week we went a lot of waterskiing, swimming and did a charming boat cruise in Austria. Follow us along our Holiday Family Time and enjoy stunning views.

It's the same for me. I've been in Europe for almost 30 years now and currently 8 years in Italy. Every time I say goodbye to my family at Cape Town international airport it's like a funeral. Elizabeth you are spot on about losing your identity and having to create a new one - it's really hard at times. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your life with us. Elisabeth: Thank you so much for sharing your family holiday with us. Your girls are just delightful. It is so refreshing to see young children enjoying themselves with nature and activities and not glued to a TV screen or a tablet or phone. And the girls are so strong! Was amazed at how well both Rosie and Lani did with the water skis. I was tearing up listening to you describe how important just being with your family away from work was. And it was really an A-Ha moment when you talked about what happens to your identity when you move and live your adult life in a different country away from friends and family (no matter how happily you have settled in Italy and your good life with Beppe and the girls.). It made me think about friends I know who have lived elsewhere for much of their adult lives. No matter how well you integrate, you don't suddenly loose all of who you were all those years before you left the country of your birth and growing up. I hadn't ever realized what that means in terms of one's children. I could happily see myself and friends and family visiting the little town you were in. It just looks so peaceful and tranquil. I loved your mention of how great it was to just sit by your mom and do nothing but be present for each other.
What a beautiful gift your husband gives you every year. You have such a beautiful country that you come from and your girls are lucky to have you as a mother.❤

It is so true what you say. I am a South African who has moved to Scotland to her husbands country. Slowly I feel like I am losing my African ways. Even more so for my child. We have to keep our old ways alive for them so they know where part of them comes from. ❤
There are so many beautiful people out in this world and beautiful places . It’s so ugly that so few want to destroy it all. We should remember that that no matter where you are from in this world there are people like you who want to enjoy their lives . Thank you Elisabeth for showing us a bit of your soul. I so understand moving away from your roots. It’s difficult to find your new identity and it’s so important not to forget where you come from. You’re blessed to have your Mother. Mine passed at 61 when I was only 34 and it was strange not to have anyone left in my life that could validate my childhood. I am now 63 and was not blessed with children. My memories are my own. By sharing your childhood memories and places with your girls you are creating a thread that will help you age and yet keep the memories alive. ❤️❤️

Elisabeth, you are an amazing person! I love how you instill and share your roots with your children. It is so important to know both parent's roots. I immigrated to the USA when I was 9 yrs old from Portugal and my parents made sure my roots and insisted I speak Portuguese at home so I could communicate when visiting family. I am grateful to them for doing that because I am connected with family and my roots. Kudos to you and Pepe! You are raising amazing children!❤

I love what you said about family and identity! My daughter was able to spend a year abroad in my father's homeland of Greece. It meant so much to me and she specifically loved the area that he was born. It touched my heart so deeply that she loved the place that I connect so much of my identity with. 😊
Elizabeth a wonderful video the scenery watching your girls water ski brought back a lot of memories for myself. And where you came from and your values and how you grew up and things that was very important to you to teach to your kids is very important. The past for some people is never known the heartache the struggles the trials that you have to jump to hurdles to get to but I think Elizabeth you have made a huge jump you have a beautiful family a loving family and you are such a lovely and loving person always willing to teach and show and understand and it was a great video.

I received a postcard from my Nono ( my northern Italian grandfather), back in 1965 from Veldon. So a few years back we discovered lake Worthersee and stayed in Veldon as we traced back my Nono’s footsteps. Now I understand his sentiments on that postcard “ wish you were here”. Liebe Familie,auch ich erinnere mich gerne an unsere Kindertage.Jedes Jahr 1 Woche ans Meer und eine Woche daheim in den Bergen.Wir waren oft über 20 Personen am Strand,Sandburgen bauen,Boccia spielen,Schwimmen und vieles mehr.Und danach zu Hause Schwarzbeeren brocken und Mama hat Gutes daraus gemacht,und natürlich Eierschwammerl und Pilze.Ach es war eine wunderbare Zeit von der ich meinen Kindern noch heute erzähle.Auch meine Geschwister und ich mit Familien haben manche Ferien miteinander verbracht.Vielen Dank für ihre schönen Beiträge.Ingrid aus🇦🇹

Elizabeth, thank you for taking us to a part of Europe that I have not been to. I’ve been to Austria but the tourist side. This is the more relaxing side. Who knows maybe one day I will do a summer vacation here. Thank you for showing this beautiful place with your girls with us in California. PS I like the necklaces with the medallions that the girls are wearing. Elizabeth I’m so glad that you are able to share your country your language, your history, your education and your traditions from Austria to the girls. So special so important and they get the benefit of both parents with different backgrounds and different cultures and traditions how lucky these girls are. I understand about goodbyes and I wish I could sit next to my mother and just have coffee and talk to her and put my arms around her. You are so blessed and lucky to be able to do that. Thank you for your heartfelt messages at the end of this video my sisters live in Switzerland and they are getting old in their 70th years I feel we are loosing time and I am sad as it will run out some day so that’s why I must make more time to see them as I live in ireland and the point about loosing your own identity is so true xx

Yes it’s sad when you leave your loved ones behind. I know exactly how you feel. I go through that all the time my husband & I leave family or when they visit us in return & then leave. The scenery was just so amazing and it was so endearing to watch you and your girls enjoying your vacation . I know what you mean about losing your identity as I have moved a number of times and while it is in the same country it is still very different from one region in the United States to another.
