@@BronxiiHthe problem again is that a thirst meter would only serve as a nerf for potions late game as for example the hunger bar was a rework of food an a balance for sprinting
Yeah, however I think that if stackable potions become a thing, Mojang should nerf Instant Health potions so the healing doesn’t save you in all situations when you’re cornerd

The second big thing Mojang needs to fix is this whole mending and broken repair system that is just absolute junk. ESPECIALLY when they want to make mending harder to get (which i do agree with), but we need to be able to keep our endgame gear without forever loosing it after it lost its durability if they want us to stop relying on mending entirely. Once these two are fixed, THEN i would look into fighting as a whole, including attacks, attack speed, strenghs of different tools enchantments, shields and the such.
i think the bundles would fix most if not all of the inventory problems. they’ve promised it they just need to finally add it. i don’t think discs should stack cause they’re special and tbh why are you stacking discs
I think it would be cool to have different enchantments that change pvp styles a lot. There could be tons more enchantments that can either work with pvp that is slow and strategic, or fast and energetic.
Yeah, like poison-esque effects so you can hit-and-run, or some kind of enchant that increases damage dealt with consecutive hits in quick succession to reward swift combat. There's so much in this space to explore!
I'm not too fond of the hit on effect enchantment thing, maybe a feature that allows you to combine potions with weapons (for example strength II on a showrd) but it has a timer.@@cluelessmango768
@@PepsiMaxVanilla That is what I would prefer, but like he said in the video minecraft isnt a fighting game like dungeons, but a sandbox game mostly focusing on building, so I think enchantments might be a better way to go.
I NEED hit blocking back. Adding a sword-blocking feature bridges the gap between having a shield and not, and adds another layer of complexity. It makes minigames like The Bridge more dynamic, I honestly miss it more than spam-clicking. Ya could have it act as a shield to only charged attacks, there are so many options with what to do with it.
They need to completely give jeb exclusive rights to the game because GOD that combat experiment was SOOOO good and im sorely disappointed that it never went through
If Jess idea was put into bedrock to combat windows 10 players spam clicking to oblivion with little to no strategy, I’d love it. It’s balanced it’s fair and it would actually enforce change that makes the versions equal.
I like the idea of multiple different shields. Wooden Shield could have light weight, making it easier to disable but fast to block, and large. And Iron Shield could be slower to block, but difficult to disable and smaller than wood maybe (like you said), a Gilded Shield (like gold and the like) is good sized magic resistance (ie: potion effects), and closer to wood in durability and speed. Gilded could also have a special enchant that lets it reflect projectiles (sends them to same way the shield is facing at same speed they were going), in exchange for a decent chunk durability and brief disablement.
3:26 I disagree. Having different weapons like in dungeons would offer a good variety in play style, and the weapons look different from each other. I don't want to have to tediously kill many Drowned just to get a trident so I can pretend that I'm using a polearm when they can just add one into the game that the player would be able to craft.
@@EpicestMan859 how would a halberd not fit into minecraft tho? Most of minecraft's weapons are roughly medieval, and stuff like pole polearms, hammers, etc are all medieval
My issue with having too many weapons in the context of minecraft, is that it's not encouraging variety in playstyle, it's encouraging micromanagement. And that's kind of alr the case with the combat snapshots holding tridents, swords, and axes. But that's just me, I want to see actually sticking to a playstyle more rather than juggling more weapons depending on split-second situations.
I think it could be fun if the trial chambers spawn mobs with resistances and weaknesses to certain weapons to encourage experimenting with different weapons
Minecraft absolutely does not need a new combat system. The current system may feel clunky however thats only if you don’t know what you are doing. We don’t need to divide the pvp community a third time.
The goal here would be to unify it. If you haven’t played the combat test snapshots, you need to. They are far more fun than the 1.9 combat. It feels much more skill oriented. I think most people would enjoy it if they got to play with it for a while
Current PvP is basically shields, axes, steaks and a bit of crossbows, and potions very situationally. It's boring, unintuitive and repetitive. Tridents and swords are useless since they can never break shields, healing/regen potions are completely useless because of saturation, bows are not completely useless but still very bad and crossbows are mediocre. All the interesting things about current combat rely on existing mechanics such as using blocks, lava, water, etc which already existed in 1.8. The new stuff is either completely OP (shields and saturation) or mediocre to useless (crossbows and tridents). The worst part is how unintuitive the combat is. New players have to learn how strong saturation and shields are when there is nothing in game telling them about that. They need to learn how to wait to hit enemies, and against skeletons it's just unfair, it's nearly impossible to PvE effectively without a shield. The CS are built from the ground up to get the best of both worlds and absolutely succeed in it. If you don't like it, you can stick to your current Java Edition versions which are plenty, I don't really care about playerbase division at this point (1.8, 1.12, etc), I just want good combat, both PvE and PvP.
I dont understand why people complain about 1.8 combat feeling like its a competition of who can click the fastest when hit registers are capped at 4 clicks per second, a random person can do 6 without compromising aim, its more about ping and comboing/sprint resetting. That being said I loved the combat snapshots and they should 110% be added to the game and I will be very disappointed if mojang doesn't add it in their "combat adventures" update.
Throwing and lingering potions could stack to 16 but normal potions could be the first item to stack to 4. Wither roses and shulker shells could be used as new brewing materials. Wither roses make withering and absorption potions while shulker shells make levitation and a new effect voided. Voided multiplies damage taken for a short duration based on its level. Level 1 2x and level 2 3x. Voided is a effect added in Minecraft Dungeons End dlc
@@thomblueart8448 splash potions aren't stackable in the test snapshots so that won't be a problem. They're nerfing food healing and buffing potions. Definitely long overdue,
So my main reason behind not wanting a combat update is minecraft isnt a pvp game at heart. Its a community game that excels in showing creativity. If mojang broke combat again to make it slower i wouldnt mind. Killing mobs is already too easy with basic tools. If anything we need an ai update to make mobs smarter and more hostile, dare i say less farmable. Minecraft needs a direction, not another random update to please a sub community.
I’m just confused they left out sweeping edge and the whole combat update for bedrock edition for all these years, I’ve been waiting for so long for them to maybe sneak it in but they abandoned it. Bedrock can’t even do afk mob farming so sweeping edge would help us. Doing farms on bedrock on mobile is almost impossible and one target killing is mundane. Idk why they’re trying to redo combat when it doesn’t even exist on their other version😭. There’s way more important things happening with Minecraft that need to be changed or added in
Can we take a step back and thank Mojang for improving the performance of Minecraft with 1.20? Been around since 1.15 and the performance has been a terrible thing to deal with even among all the new additions but recently I haven't had to play vanilla, without mods, with low settings. 16 render distance with 12 simulation distance at 120 FPS is amazing to see after years of struggling from a small point of view. Slapping 1.20.2 with sodium for a whopping 32 render distance with 16 simulation distance at 120 FPS solid is truly another level of entertainment. I'll never play an old version of Minecraft again while the performance is this good in both the unmodded and modded environments.
You are the last person to give advice to mojang about pvp in minecraft, when you don't understand it and aren't very good at it and aren't part of the community.
I think they could add a enchantment/potion that nerfs healing from saturation and effects for a short period of time, so that you can't just run for a bit and recover all health from a golden carrot, a bleeding enchantment that aplies 5 secs of something like bleeding/painful wounds, could already make a diference, making so you have to commit to retreating, and it won't be about surviving until the oponent's armor breaks
I agree that they should add this to the new versions of mc but I disagree with how most people see 1.8. 1.8 combat isn't entirely based on cps at all, it's based on so many other factors that are far more important. You need to have momentum, aim, strafing, timing, spacing, sword-block-hitting and so much more. I would also love it if they brought back sword-blocking, it wouldn't replace shields because it just reduces damage but it would help make swords a little more special than axes.
personally if I was to alter Minecraft combat I think I would focus on giving each existing tool unique aspects, I like the idea of differing Ranges and the cleave vs slashing of the axe and Sword some things I can think of off the top of my head would be shovels slowing someone down when hitting them, pickaxes having some level of Armor bypass and doing increased durability damage to armour, and Hoes pulling Targets in instead of pushing them away and of course having a balance of attack speeds and damages across the range, I think swords should definitely stick as the most versatile weapon having the best mix of damage, range and swing speed if I were to advocate for the implementation of anything new it would be pole arms a high reach low swing speed weapon with average damage, perhaps with a special weapon effect of having Momentum affect damage like if you're on a horse moving fast you deal More Damage than if you stationary or if you're opponent is on a horse you deal more damage to them all of these put together I think would make for a very interesting combat landscape with a low skill floor and high skill ceiling, most people starting out would probably only stick to one or two weapons while anyone with lots of experience would swap between them as necessary, additionally people would be likely to learn the effects of each weapon from regular gameplay from the natural panic Instinct of hitting whatever is in front of you with whatever is in your hand
I actually think a few more weapons could be added to the game. They do need to work differently and have a niche, but what if we had weapons that did little damage but had some interesting effects like pulling a player towards you rather than knocking them back?
100% man its time for them to bring back these combat changes already its the best time for it and if they dont see it yet then we will have to wait longer and longer !! 😊
1.9 combat is honestly _fine._ I don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with the spam-clicking of pre-1.9. The only thing I'd change in regards to modern minecraft combat is to make the axe damage scale with tier (currently a stone axe, iron axe, and diamond axe all do the exact same per-hit damage), and give the pickaxe a huge armor piercing attack but extremely low uptime, as well as replacing the axe as the anti-shield weapon.
Imo if such thing as "Netherite Shield" was added all it should do is either: give more durability and make it not burn in lava/fire when dropped or just the shield fire resistance. Shield that gives YOU fire resistance sounds wayy too OP and should not be added at all.
i love the idea of you making videos that make you happy but make sure you dont overwork yourself because i can imagine making 3 videos a week is alot. i dont care if you skip a week or 2 just make sure you love making these videos :3
Dude your asking for a major update from a company that says it's impossible to add 3 moving cubes a year rather than 1, they don't care and they don't have to, they've lowered the bar for what actual work is so low they get paid vacation 24/7 and we're fine with it. If they say it's too hard to put a textured square that makes noise, they can justify not doing anything forever
I think shields should have a stamina cool down. The more you get hit while parrying the more the cool down drop and when it reaches zero you get stunned for a little bit and you have to wait for the stamina to recharge fully to being able to use the shield angain. I'd also make the axe the tool that brakes more stamina if you hit the shield and others tools should have a differen stamina damage like the hoe with the lowest one.
All I want is stackable potions and a better use of the trident as a weapon. Java edtition trident is only really good for flying in the rain with riptide and an elytra imo.
5:38 I had the same idea of round shield with desigh like target block And the main idea of it is that you can run with it and block arrows, but melee defense is lower (also add spear (the same as trident but you can craft it (only iron one) ) and you became a spartan lol) Also I think that the shield we have rn should block only percantage of damage
Well 0:19 is up for debate. Since if you can only click fast, you will not win. Its easy to make the mistake to think 50 cps is auto win, but there are multiple mechanics that are a bit deeper in the iceberg which allow to counter this. You can look those up, there are tutorials for everything important.
@@Willimann I see you acknowledge you aren't the best at the game, I back off my argument of calling you a 1.8 tryhard, I see you're much more respectable. Apologies. And also yeah, I think 1.8 sucks ass too
Agree, we don't need a million new weapons, we just need 4 or 5. And I also agree we don't need any amount of weapons but would not hurt to have some. I mean, we could have them, even if we're currently not needing them.
Things I think mojang should add for combat. 1. Spears: The trident is a very powerful weapon you can obtain honestly quite early in the game, and I think it makes the game a little too easy. Instead, limit the drops to a lower percentage and add spears. Spears would work like tridents, except you can stack them up to 12-16 in your hot bar. The crafting recipe would just be the arrow's recipe except replacing the feather with another stick. For damage wise, it would do either between what a wooden sword could do or a stone sword. 2. Grappling hook: a grapling hook would make combat very interesting but would also make exploring easier instead of the common building up with dirt or cobble methods. 3. I definitely think a new weapon/tool should be added to the game. 4. A new boss. The wither and ender dragon have been the only bosses for so long, and I think a new boss is definitely required soon. If a future End update doesn't update the ender dragon boss fight and animations, then they definitely will need a new boss. So far, the Breeze is the only "boss" coming soon, and yet it doesn't seem boss material to me. 5. New aggressive mobs. After the mob vote involving the Iceologer, I definitely think a new aggressive illager is needed. My idea is an illager that weilds a sword and sheild. It would probably be tanky, but it would certainly would be a new challenge.
tridents are pretty terrible i have no idea what you mean swords are still very dominant outside of bedrock and axes are only useful for disabling shields unless you're playing earlygame pvp
I think they should make it sfair o waiting for the cooldown gives 1 extra point of damage (maybe more or less depending on the weapon, maybe for axes it's 2 and swords it's one) that way there is a bit more viability in using swords over axes but still using axes is useful
2:47 1.8 pvp is extremally skill orientated, allot of times it feels like it's cps or aim dependent and not skill. You do bring up cps whenever you talk about 1.8, high cps is a skill but movement is always more important than cps, cps means nothing if you don't have good movement and movement is similar to relearning the entire game a few times.
In my opinion, we really do need shields made from different materials. It just means the current version of the shield needs to be heavily nerfed. The current shield can be renamed “iron shield” and nerfed significantly. For example, this version of the shield could nothing (or very little) to protect you from explosive damage and knock back. It could also partially fail to fully project you from fully charged projectile and melee attacks (“partially” and “fully charged” being the keywords here, this would probably need lots of testing and tweaking). It’s intended to be only used in early game like iron equipment. We could have a gold version of the shield which is crafted from nether wood and a gold ingot. It’s stats should be identical to the iron shield, except it should have really low durability. But, it would pacify piglins. The diamond shield should be crafted from 1 diamond and 6 obsidian. It would mostly protect you from explosive damage and completely protect you from projectile and melee damage, but it still would not reduce knock back. The netherite shield would be crafted in the smithing table with a netherite ingot and the diamond shield, just like all netherite equipment. It will fully protect you from explosive, melee and projectile damage, and it will also negate knock back. It will also be fire proof in item form. We also need enchantments for shields. We could have ‘deflection’ which deals a bit of knock back to after blocking a melee attack, and send projectiles in a different direction after blocking. It could even do something like deflect guardian beams, wither skulls, ghast and dragon fireballs, and shulker bullets. It’d be interesting to see how could use this. We could also have ‘vibration’ which is kind of complimentary to cleaving. If a sword hits a shield with vibration, the sword will have a cool down applied to it, similar to how cleaving puts the shield in cool down. The idea is that a shield with this enchantment is so hard, that it transfers the energy of your sword swing up your arm and temporarily stops you from attacking. Deflection and vibration would be incompatible. We could have another enchantment called ‘advance’ (we can work on the name) which ameliorates the speed debuff you get while using the shield.
Regarding not adding dungeons weapons into base minecraft - you're right. It would be too big of a change. I do wish however, that they would make something like "Minecraft 2", where it would do that, being a more combat and character upgrade focused game. Something similar to Terraria or Hytale, I guess? Although noone really knows how intricate hytale's systems are going to be.
personally, hard disagree on not complicating combat, I think terraria is a good example of a game with more complicated combat that's done in a way that's intuitive and very sandbox-y I don't think MC and terraria should be the same game, for example evil biomes and hardmode are things I don't think fit minecraft, however, if you could choose to have an actual playstyle when it came to combat I think it'd be a really cool way to round out the creativity in MC because not only can you build what you want, you can BE who you want and roleplay in a way integral to the way you fight, or you can be someone who only really cares about the combat aspect of MC and trying out all the different things there I think MC should also have much more linear progression with bosses and events so that MC feels like it has an actual end, the ender dragon while a cool bossfight, the way you can speed run straight to the end if you really want to just with some buckets, an iron sword, and beds, doesn't make the ending or combat feel worthwhile, and it's unclear what you're supposed to do to get there anyways, so it ends up feeling more like a cool thing you can do but not object of the game that might seem unrelated but the enemies and bosses in MC are so boring and unchallenging (maybe except for bedrock wither) that updating the combat in such a way with no enemies to try the new bs that could be added would feel boring, so if MC worlds started in a way that's much like vanilla is now, but over time as bosses are killed gets more difficult, then having a playstyle and roleplaying that would feel much more rewarding, and it would be still a sandbox experience, but with a sense of progression and completion edits: I changed some formatting I also wanna say I actually like all the changes to the current MC combat in the snapshots, I think stacking potions is fine, I like the idea of making them a permission my problems with the combat aren't "it's not terraria L + ratio lol" I know that may be how it comes off, I just think combat in MC is boring and terraria is the only other sandbox game that nails both the building and combat sides of the game, and MC could also live up to that, but it needs an overhaul, not some little tweaks, the armor and weapons are all really boring (except for the trident, I like the trident) I wish there was more of a reason for picking one set of armor or a weapon over another rather than "oh this one is the ore tier above this one so it's better" mojang can do better, and sure we have enchantments but none of them do anything truly interesting, except for like frost walker and soulspeed, and it'd be great if they did P.S. I also have beef with armor durability
Ok while I do agree adding every weapon from dungeons would be overkill I do have to point out saying "Go download a mod." does not help. You want your combat update go download a mod. It's not really an argument it's a shutdown that makes people think your saying "The thing you want. Ya that's stupid. But if you really want this bad idea do it yourself." It's the same as get good. A dismissive response that at best shows you can be ignored because you have nothing to say or at worse you actually have no clue what your talking about and are doing the school yard version of "Nu uh my armor is actually magic so you just can't beat me." Personally I would have not said it or just said "There are too many to add every weapon in one go with no change." witch you did do after granted but we both know anyone that really wants it will hear you say just get a mod and will ignore anything you say after. As for what to add I want to see some artifacts. Charm, summon items, heal. How cool would it be to use a orb and call in a few skeleton even if they just had swords to help you. Or a trinket you can bind to your dog and summon it to your side without losing him if he dies. or a totem that when you use it you very slowly refill your hunger and it gives light at torch level. You only get one at a time and food is still really important but you have a fairly safe camp item you can use without carting around 5-6 items to build a safeish camp. And you can do so much with this. Potion jug. it takes 8 times longer to brew using it but it has 8 uses. slap on mending and unbreaking and you have a everfill bottle. add saturation as a real potion effect you can make now you can truly explore the world. And because it's a new item pvp servers can easily cut it from the item spawn pool. Artifacts would also be a huge excitement for the wandering trader.
I really wish they would update the animations for combat and take it in a new direction, it looks so boring. The “better combat” mod is really vanilla feeling and just makes combat in first person and 3rd feel and look so much better, and doesn’t really change any of the game’s actual combat functions.
Hope that if this update comes out, all the sweaty mvp anime players will finally leave us bedrock consolers alone as the games will finally be made equal as opposed to an Xbox player fighting a PC player with like 60cps. As a side note Mojang should also improve their anti cheat as even though I don’t like it when mojang intervenes in servers, an anti cheat update would work well in my opinion, with servers like 2b2t having a toggle for if they want mojangs help or not.
I feel like they should’ve taken notes from the better combat mod, it’s way better as there’s a more real approach to combat where you swing your sword automatically with a different animation and all your hits are full damage
We don't need million weaoons but god i eant q dagger i live daggers so much it can be just a one off instead of a class like the mace but i want a daggeeerr
1. I like your content 2. I don't watch your videos, I listen to them 3. As an idea you should compare Minecraft to Valheim. It is a bit niche and irrelevant, but when you run out of ideas, please consider it. Valheim has Minecraft-like progression and they do it right. And their updates implemented insanely good
Stackable potions are the only thing relevant for me. Ferrum shields would be good though. Still that PvP. MC is not about PvP. I'm kinda sick and tired of what PvP-iers want.
i think most casual players are fine with 1.9 pvp, it's just a vocal minority and og 1.8 players that dislike it as you said minecrafti s supposed to be simple, i think that having 2 different sheilds and adding like 50 factors to pvp makes it too complicated
The snapshots get rid of cool down though and are better received than 1.9 which has cool-down. It may not be the same as spam clicking, but it’s still a similar system OG players will enjoy.
Always hated 1.8 pvp, when you always need to click so fast and so much your finger starts to hurt. 1.9 pvp may seem slow, however is much more strategic
Problem is that it isn’t accessible to everyone and hasn’t been for almost 7 years now, with the console and windows 10 population having gotten used to a worse version of 1.8 (that should be nerfed 100%). 1.9 would only divide the community more than features such as the mob vote and as someone who dislikes bedrock PvP, I’d rather stay with bad bedrock PvP than be forced to have long boring duels due to the inability to click faster and players running away.
People who say 1.8 / 1.7 is only a click speed contest, making it unskillful, are straight up just wrong. If that were the case, anyone could buy a mouse that lets them click at 20+ cps all the time and instantly become a high level player, but thats simply not the case. Theres an incredible amount of depth and nuance in the aiming, movement, combos, trading, etc. Thats not to say that 1.9+ is unskillful or boring, as 1.9+ has its own set of incredible depth and subtleties, just in a different way. People are too prone to think that fast clicking means everything in 1.8/1.7 because of a lack of experience and knowledge. I guarantee any great 1.8 pvper with 8 cps could easily beat any new 1.8 pvper clicking 15+ in just about any mode.
It’s amazing how many people have made comments like this, when all I said was it can FEEL LIKE a competition to see who can click the fastest. I never claimed it had no depth. I think both systems have flaws and pros. I think these combat test snapshots take the best from both systems.
Who cares about pvp, if a server is imbalanced because of potion stacking then have them plug-in it out. Easy as can be, but just saying screw all the other players who would like this change doesn’t seem like the right answer. PvP is honestly the minority of the Minecraft player base I’d bet. I mean I guess a game rule sure, as long as potion stacking is set on by default. Disabling achievements just to use it would be a little sad.
One thing I would change is lower the amount of potions you can stack, maybe lower it to 4 or 6. As 16 potions in one slot would drastically slow PvP down. Another thing I would want is nerf crystals, not to the point of no use but just enough so that your not one shotted by them. Other than that I love this new PvP. I hope they add it so tridents can be more useful in combat.
Auto clicking is not back. You hold down the click to attack. Clicking it faster does not do anything for you. You can only swing as fast as holding down the button
stackable potions would be terrible for the pvp scene in minecraft. current potions are balanced and being able to stack them would be waayyy too broken. anyone saying they won't use potions unless they are stackable doesn't do pvp, and if you don't do pvp, combat doesn't matter.
uhh no? 1.9 is perfect as it is and doesn't need any changes if you like 1.8 you're 40 year old virgin who are just unskilled because you can't just spam
1.9 is boring as shit and is only popular cause Java RUclipsrs play it all the time lmao. But then again, I hate bedrock PvP as well. 1.8 was a nerfed version of bedrock PvP and was arguably more balanced than what we have now, hence why I wish bedrock PvP would be better. 1.9 ain’t perfect kid.
@@darkclips1 watch a video about the differences between 1.8 and bedrock. They’re not the same and 1.8 is 100% still more balanced than bedrock editions piss poor excuse for PvP.
@@darkclips1 quite the opposite really, bedrock is absolute garbage. Due to cross play, sweaty windows pvpers come to our servers and screw everything up, hence why I’d love it if the snapshot came to bedrock and made cps even.
axe's base reach is actually 2.5*. Also there is a max CPS cap for each weapon as their "Attack Speed" stat, which is the maximal number of attacks one can perform per second. Also, also, shield stunning with an axe is 100%, not 25% anymore.

stackable potions will encourage players to use potions more. yes potion consumption is increased but eating will be interacted and hek even if its OP the opponent can just drink strenght pot to counter the instant health ya know. this is a really good chage
3:48 Yea I have to strongly disagree with this. Having more weapons in Minecraft would add a lot of new possibilities for PvE and PvP, and having only a small handful of weapons is pretty boring and gets old quick. There really needs to be more weapons in the game.

There's so much in this space to explore!
this
it doesn't really make sense to make them enchantments though, i think they should be seperate weapons
I think there’s a Server with this Combat, It’s called Killstreak

It really depends on what weapons and how they add it into the game to not ruin it or make it feel like it’s not Minecraft.
Mostly because there's not much cooldown when switching weapons.
This members-only content is spicy.
I think for basic shields it would be nice to be able to boost the durability using rarer materials other than iron.
I think it could be fun if the trial chambers spawn mobs with resistances and weaknesses to certain weapons to encourage experimenting with different weapons
Ive always wanted a real magic system in Minecraft.
I think most people would enjoy it if they got to play with it for a while
The point is to make bedrock and java have the same combat
@@surgeflame6722ngl I play bedrock and I find Java PvP so much better and they should just add it to bedrock
I can setup a server with the snapshot if you want.
Looking forward to seeing what comes of the LOZ video!
Heyyy I’m working on the script today! Tomorrow is footage day! Thank you so much for the 2 dollars! That means the world to me!
I would 100% love stackable potions they would make my inventory have a lot more space

what would be an example of a shield enchantment - I feel as if Shields are already strong enough, especially considering how cheap they are to craft
You just mentioned Minecraft is a sandbox game and advocated for less player choice. I don’t get your argument.
There’s way more important things happening with Minecraft that need to be changed or added in
"bedrock can't even do afk mob farming"
Have you seen trident killers? They beat out sweeping edge by a long shot, and are bedrock-exclusive
1. Mobile
2. Use a trident afk killer which is far better than sweeping edge
Dude thank you so much for speaking all this truth but I’ve genuinely given up hope on Mojang. They needed to hear all your points years ago.
I would also love it if they brought back sword-blocking, it wouldn't replace shields because it just reduces damage but it would help make swords a little more special than axes.
personally if I was to alter Minecraft combat I think I would focus on giving each existing tool unique aspects, I like the idea of differing Ranges and the cleave vs slashing of the axe and Sword
some things I can think of off the top of my head would be shovels slowing someone down when hitting them, pickaxes having some level of Armor bypass and doing increased durability damage to armour, and Hoes pulling Targets in instead of pushing them away
and of course having a balance of attack speeds and damages across the range, I think swords should definitely stick as the most versatile weapon having the best mix of damage, range and swing speed
if I were to advocate for the implementation of anything new it would be pole arms a high reach low swing speed weapon with average damage, perhaps with a special weapon effect of having Momentum affect damage like if you're on a horse moving fast you deal More Damage than if you stationary or if you're opponent is on a horse you deal more damage to them
all of these put together I think would make for a very interesting combat landscape with a low skill floor and high skill ceiling, most people starting out would probably only stick to one or two weapons while anyone with lots of experience would swap between them as necessary, additionally people would be likely to learn the effects of each weapon from regular gameplay from the natural panic Instinct of hitting whatever is in front of you with whatever is in your hand
I actually think a few more weapons could be added to the game. They do need to work differently and have a niche, but what if we had weapons that did little damage but had some interesting effects like pulling a player towards you rather than knocking them back?
I’d love to have a large hammer added to the game. I can finally make more custom bosses.
I don’t think I said a shield that gives you fire resistance, did I?

When the snapshots first came out some servers did pvp with it but I don’t know of any rn
I think a lance would be a good update; horse pvp would be amazing, and since horses are rn useless almost, itll give them a new use
Stay off modded servers until the blood pipeline exploit is fixed. Look it up
All I want is stackable potions and a better use of the trident as a weapon. Java edtition trident is only really good for flying in the rain with riptide and an elytra imo.
5:38 I had the same idea of round shield with desigh like target block
And the main idea of it is that you can run with it and block arrows, but melee defense is lower (also add spear (the same as trident but you can craft it (only iron one) ) and you became a spartan lol)
Also I think that the shield we have rn should block only percantage of damage
Well 0:19 is up for debate. Since if you can only click fast, you will not win. Its easy to make the mistake to think 50 cps is auto win, but there are multiple mechanics that are a bit deeper in the iceberg which allow to counter this. You can look those up, there are tutorials for everything important.
Still sucks ass lmao
Found the 1.8 tryhard
@@TheGeekFactor would agree yes.
@@Nykomil i have spent a lot of time on 1.8, sadly, i suck. But i do know a thing or 2
@@Willimann I see you acknowledge you aren't the best at the game, I back off my argument of calling you a 1.8 tryhard, I see you're much more respectable.
It would probably be tanky, but it would certainly would be a new challenge.
tridents are pretty terrible i have no idea what you mean
swords are still very dominant outside of bedrock and axes are only useful for disabling shields unless you're playing earlygame pvp
I think they should make it sfair o waiting for the cooldown gives 1 extra point of damage (maybe more or less depending on the weapon, maybe for axes it's 2 and swords it's one) that way there is a bit more viability in using swords over axes but still using axes is useful
Maybe potions should stack to 8 instead of 16. In any case, stacking multiple is definitely useful and good for incorporating it
2:47 1.8 pvp is extremally skill orientated, allot of times it feels like it's cps or aim dependent and not skill.
Although noone really knows how intricate hytale's systems are going to be.
personally, hard disagree on not complicating combat, I think terraria is a good example of a game with more complicated combat that's done in a way that's intuitive and very sandbox-y
I don't think MC and terraria should be the same game, for example evil biomes and hardmode are things I don't think fit minecraft, however, if you could choose to have an actual playstyle when it came to combat I think it'd be a really cool way to round out the creativity in MC because not only can you build what you want, you can BE who you want and roleplay in a way integral to the way you fight, or you can be someone who only really cares about the combat aspect of MC and trying out all the different things there
I think MC should also have much more linear progression with bosses and events so that MC feels like it has an actual end, the ender dragon while a cool bossfight, the way you can speed run straight to the end if you really want to just with some buckets, an iron sword, and beds, doesn't make the ending or combat feel worthwhile, and it's unclear what you're supposed to do to get there anyways, so it ends up feeling more like a cool thing you can do but not object of the game
that might seem unrelated but the enemies and bosses in MC are so boring and unchallenging (maybe except for bedrock wither) that updating the combat in such a way with no enemies to try the new bs that could be added would feel boring, so if MC worlds started in a way that's much like vanilla is now, but over time as bosses are killed gets more difficult, then having a playstyle and roleplaying that would feel much more rewarding, and it would be still a sandbox experience, but with a sense of progression and completion
edits: I changed some formatting
I also wanna say I actually like all the changes to the current MC combat in the snapshots, I think stacking potions is fine, I like the idea of making them a permission
my problems with the combat aren't "it's not terraria L + ratio lol" I know that may be how it comes off, I just think combat in MC is boring and terraria is the only other sandbox game that nails both the building and combat sides of the game, and MC could also live up to that, but it needs an overhaul, not some little tweaks, the armor and weapons are all really boring (except for the trident, I like the trident) I wish there was more of a reason for picking one set of armor or a weapon over another rather than "oh this one is the ore tier above this one so it's better" mojang can do better, and sure we have enchantments but none of them do anything truly interesting, except for like frost walker and soulspeed, and it'd be great if they did
P.S. I also have beef with armor durability
Seriously that people didn't liked the bow because it worked like a bow?
Ok while I do agree adding every weapon from dungeons would be overkill I do have to point out saying "Go download a mod." does not help. You want your combat update go download a mod. It's not really an argument it's a shutdown that makes people think your saying "The thing you want. Ya that's stupid. But if you really want this bad idea do it yourself." It's the same as get good. A dismissive response that at best shows you can be ignored because you have nothing to say or at worse you actually have no clue what your talking about and are doing the school yard version of "Nu uh my armor is actually magic so you just can't beat me."
Personally I would have not said it or just said "There are too many to add every weapon in one go with no change." witch you did do after granted but we both know anyone that really wants it will hear you say just get a mod and will ignore anything you say after.
I feel like they should add another weapon.

Potions should only stack to 3 :p
Mojang: 🤓Ermmm, this wont work on Pocket Edition, so we cant add it.. 🤓
I feel like they should’ve taken notes from the better combat mod, it’s way better as there’s a more real approach to combat where you swing your sword automatically with a different animation and all your hits are full damage

i think most casual players are fine with 1.9 pvp, it's just a vocal minority and og 1.8 players that dislike it
as you said minecrafti s supposed to be simple, i think that having 2 different sheilds and adding like 50 factors to pvp makes it too complicated
Me that plays bedrock and still doesn't have the old system
holy smokes you have like 2 thousand more subs in past few days
But 1.21 is copper/redstone update
i really do not want spam clicking to be viable again lmao
Luckily, it’s not! Your click speed caps out at the same speed as holding down the attack button

That’s funny you think mojang would care
One thing I would change is lower the amount of potions you can stack, maybe lower it to 4 or 6. As 16 potions in one slot would drastically slow PvP down. Another thing I would want is nerf crystals, not to the point of no use but just enough so that your not one shotted by them. Other than that I love this new PvP. I hope they add it so tridents can be more useful in combat.
Minigame PVP will be fine so whatever, freeroam survival PVP has been horrible for ages who even does that nowadays.
Slow down lmao that intro has me feeling out of breath.
oh boy the combat fix, auto clicking is back NOOOOO
Auto clicking is not back. You hold down the click to attack. Clicking it faster does not do anything for you. You can only swing as fast as holding down the button

@@darkclips1 watch a video about the differences between 1.8 and bedrock. They’re not the same and 1.8 is 100% still more balanced than bedrock editions piss poor excuse for PvP.
@@DjDeadpig yeah okay on bedrock its good because its consoles and PE so it would be too bard but in java 1.9 is way more superiour
Beautiful. Thank you for the correction!
parry mechanic with the small shield would be cool to really go full on the "melee defense" aspect
just became a member keep up the great work your videos are amazing and your script (if you are using one) is very solid and clear
You are awesome. the quality of your vids is higher than what some people with millions of subs have.
You definitely deserve to be able to do this full time. And I cant wait what you have in stock for us in the next vid. :) cheers (P.S. I may or may not have a lot of grammar or vocab mistakes. English is not my first Language)
For the love of God. Leave PvP alone.
stackable potions will encourage players to use potions more. yes potion consumption is increased but eating will be interacted and hek even if its OP the opponent can just drink strenght pot to counter the instant health ya know. this is a really good chage
3:48 Yea I have to strongly disagree with this. Having more weapons in Minecraft would add a lot of new possibilities for PvE and PvP, and having only a small handful of weapons is pretty boring and gets old quick. There really needs to be more weapons in the game.
