    The climax of Amazing Spider-Man 2 actually annoyed a great number of fans, because Gwen's death is not lifted faithfully from the comics.
    Specifically, in the comics Peter actually catches her before she hits the ground, but not in time to save her, and with a snap that implies a dark twist later comics would confirm: the whiplash from the net broke Gwen's neck, being the direct cause of death.
    While obviously the Green Goblin is still the actual responsible and killer, it's a detail that add some weights on Peter's shoulders and a complexity that fans liked about the scene, something that the movie removes completely, and felt like it watered the whole scene down.

    • @TheIronMarshall
      @TheIronMarshall 5 дней назад +1

      You literally just described exactly what happened in the movie. Should it have had a Mortal Kombat X-ray effect to be more "faithful"? Maybe a "FATALITY" Sound effect too 😂

    • @themantyf1116
      @themantyf1116 5 дней назад

      @@TheIronMarshall you missed my point so wildly that I frankly don't even understand what you think I am saying, so I will just give a shorter version of my previous comment.
      In the comics, Peter catches and snaps her neck, in the movie Peter misses and is the fall that kills Gwen.
      The change takes away Peter's role in the death, taking away emotional weight and conflict from the scene, turning it into any other fridging.

    • @stifflered

      @@themantyf1116 In the comic he webs her (snags her feet) to catch her, which causes the whiplash which break her neck. In the movie he catches her wrong which does it.
      The cloud that hangs over him is even though he has these powers he still can't save everyone - even though he tortured himself that if he had acted he could have saved his Uncle Ben.
      This made the scene in Spider Man: No Way Home where this actor's Spider-Man saved MJ all the more poignant (notice the detail where he's cradling her head).

    • @themantyf1116
      @themantyf1116 5 дней назад

      @@l00k4tstuff the point is that in the comics it wasn't simply that he couldn't save everyone, but that he was technically the cause of death.
      He HAD made it in time, but done it wrong. Which is a heavier burden to bear.
      Reducing him not to make it in time waters it down, particularly since it's a lesson he didn't need (he already knew he had limits with his failure to save both dr. Connor and Gwen's father).

    Controversial mention: The Mist. While the majority of the film is kinda fun, it for the most part, just falls into typical horror cliches and a fairly meandering story. I would argue against THE FINAL FRONTIER or ATTACK OF THE CLONES being so bad, especially in view of the Abrams Trek trilogy that doesn't get nearly enough flak compared to earlier films in the franchise.
    BLUE THUNDER is not a bad movie, especially compared to many action movies over the past forty years; there was nothing odd in its being about helicopter police (there are such things), and it is inherently critical of high-tech mayhem rather than celebrating it as if it were a video game enacted with people (as the TV series did). On minor points, it had an early appearance by of the British baddie trope (or British-accented, since Malcolm McDowell's character had fought in Vietnam), and strongly hinted, though focused on an American vet, that the Vietnam-American War was harder on Vietnamese than on Americans. That alone makes it superior to the majority of Hollywood takes on on the conflict.
    For a terrible movie with an upturn near the end, I can think of no better example than THE DEPARTED - admittedly, the impact of the elevator finale is lessened if you'd seen the original INFERNAL AFFAIRS, but at least it isn't botched like the rest. The actual ending added on by Scorsese and Loneghan isn't that hot, or even very surprising since the Dignam character had done pretty much nothing thus far, and the characters are only in the movie to kill someone or be killed. Also it leads into that pretentious juxtaposition of the rat with the capitol dome.

    I cannot fathom how Tusk (2014) is not number one. It was based on a somewhat sporadic conversation with Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier on their SModcast., They were getting really into the idiocy of the story and were joking around about making a movie about this stupid story, so they posted a poll.
    And now Tusk is a movie that exists. Somewhere during the credits, or maybe at the end, you get to hear the clip from the podcast. The movie is not worth watching without that. It's just a literal "you asked for it." It was ludicrous. the movie was moronic, because it was supposed to be moronic. The credits even puts on full display the names of everyone who responded TUSKYES (as opposed to TUSKNO).

    1. I really, _really_ want Andrew Garfield to be given the shot for a third Amazing Spider-Man movie. He is a great actor, those movies weren't that bad, and I'd love to see him expand on what we've learned since his appearance in No Way Home. I firmly believe it could be an absolute marvel of a movie.
    2. Doom should be given a remake, either as a movie or, like, an 8 episode series, or something. Relatively short but long enough to capture the essence of what it's supposed to be, telling the story it's supposed to tell. As long as the project is given to someone/s that don't have a personal point to prove and shamelessly adding to and changing the script just to make themselves stand out - as we saw in The Witcher and Game of Thrones.

    For me; nice, fresh perspective on Star Trek V! 😎⭐
    I've always said the root of its problems are also its redeemer at times. Pretty clear they saw how the levity of IV was well-received by fans so the filmmakers went for more of that.
    They succeeded in spots. The campfire scene has always been great for a laugh. 😁
    But, if called upon to list off positives about V, I'd have been one to forget the high-action climax. It is pretty cool how Kirk faces down the Bird of Prey.
