- After the extreme surge of crowds during the $50 discount period for kids, crowds have started to taper off at California Adventure. DCA has been a pretty chill place it seems. We'll tour the entire park and find some low wait times, generally take crowds, and a rather pleasant trip around the park. Every l and and every attractions. Our state of DCA report.

FreshBaked. David, A little exercise for you and Liz. Liz has Lightening Lane, you don't. You both do the same attraction's at the same time. At the end of the day how many rides did Liz do and how many for you. And then do a comparison between the 2 strategy's and was paying $30 extra for "Genie+" worth it? It will be interesting to see how busy the parks are over Easter. It used to be shoulder to shoulder for the next fortnight. Cheers, Chris Perry.
I have never paid for Genie+. I'm a little spoiled because I am a former cast member. These days I have friends who have DAS, but we don't abuse it, typically we only do 1-2 E tickets per day, and otherwise just enjoy the atmosphere and eat lots of food! When I'm in the park alone, I tend to just enjoy walking around the park and doing lines with historically short lines. I don't mind waiting in a queue so long as it moves quickly. I visited yesterday and rode Soarin, Radiator Springs Racers, Runaway Railway and King Arthur's Carrousel. Also had a Sip and Savor pass that me and my two friends shared. I was in the park from 1-9 pm. Lovely day!
What does it say about me when I say I will NOT wait longer then 30 minutes for a ride? Lol Damn Genie+ has spoiled me

It says you want to have fun but also value yourself and your time.
If it's a crowded day at the park, I'd say it's worth the money, otherwise I personally just wait if it's 35 minutes or less.

You are so right about the festivals at DCA. They seem to bring life to a park that still to a certain point lacks things to do.
The park desperately needs capacity but u til they get that solved the festivals really help.
I wish they would expand the food and wine a bit more and maybe i overlap it with a Flower and Garden festival.
I can only imagine how amazing DCA would look with added topiaries, gardens and lots of color. California has the weather for it and it would definitely bring another big crowd
It’s nice to see wait times go down a little for once, but this step forward makes me nervous we’re gonna take two steps back pretty soon
I now have a street light on my morning commute that I can look at and know how many "rotations" it'll take to get through. Dave has made the math work even for a commute street light

I am predicting that summer crowds will be lower than typical, due to major ride closures in Disneyland.

Just stopped by on Monday and I will say that the park overall wasn't crowded, more people were lined up for Disneyland as opposed to DCA, the max I saw for wait times was 120 minutes, but that was for Radiator Springs Racers, which ofc it was lol. Not fun that it broke down twice in the time we tried to join the line, but we toughed it out and still made it on to beat our timing for LL for Mission Breakout!
DCA is great theme park it was struggling first opened when tower of terror came out in 2004
Fridays are blocked for the Imagine Key, so it makes sense it would be less busy
After watching this I had to reserve an April day for DCA. I usually do DCA every 3rd visit so it is time.
One day later wait times were more then double. Most rides were 60 minutes. Cars was 175 minutes
Last week was spring break for Arizona so maybe a lot of people were visiting during their spring break. Now maybe everyone is back in school.
It doesn't seem like you can take any day in isolation on whether or not the parks are less busy overall. There have always been days that are less busy, for whatever reason, it will be interesting to see if there's a trend.

Thanks for the update! Do you have a video where you discuss the wait time of rides from the Genie+ mix in points?
It's the complete opposite in Orlando. Its like sardines in a can crowded.

Last week there was an interesting dip in crowds. But this week is easter week and most elementary, middle, and high schools are on break, thus the huge increase in crowds this week. Hoping they decrease in time for April 13th when I go...
should be ok that day.

Well actually I was very lucky, Disneyland was very pleasant this past Saturday. So much so I was able to do all the rides in one park in one day, averaging 8 minutes across all the attractions without Lightning Lane or Single Rider use. I also watched the parade and the half-firework show(because of the rain), and stopped 3 times to eat. I got to Disney at 6:59 am and didn't leave till about 12:30 am, so it was a long but very fun day.

Soarin over California hasn't aged well
Food and Wine last year was way better. It seems like the food selection decreases every year.
You can anticipate Lightning Lane. Example: In Toontown, if Mickey & Minnie's goes down(again), LL at Roger and DAS/Multiple Experience recovery will be impacted severely.
I want more single rider lines.
We were there one day after this video and it was slammed. I think crowds are linked to hotel guest early entry days.

You just walked passed the hot dog stand on hollywood blvd. It only looked like it has 5 or 6 people in line. How did that happen. Also I just checked and they still have star wars after dark open every night still able to buy. Also when has that ever happened? What is going on?
Luigi's is always longer wait because it turns over less people (Mater's has two sides) and it breaks down all the time. But as a mother of two young kids they always want to ride both, so we wait.
I just went yesterday and the lines where outrageous. Radiator springs racers was 240 minutes space mountain 80 minutes mission break out 70 minutes. Luckily, I have a inspire key so I was not pressed to get on anything but it was still shocking.

Sounds Florida like but we have to come starting Saturday for five days because of my daughter’s break next week. I’m nervous because weather forecast is “heavy rain on Saturday and thunderstorms on Sunday”. Grateful we have five days to do stuff so we can take breaks and hopefully catch some shorter lines in early morning and late at night.
@larrykramer2761 When I went it was on a same day reservation they must have opened up reservation quotas. I was thinking it was going to be slow because there was a sameday reservation available.

I finally bought my California Adventure ticket for next Friday. I have not ever been to California Adventure so I am very grateful for your state of park video. I am interested in only the E-Ticket rides. If I arrive around 9am on Friday, should I rush to Incredicoaster or Radiator Springs Racer? I hope I can find food which have l9w salt content become salty foods cause debilitating migraines with severe nausea. This is why I am restricted to a narrow range of foods.

i would go based on wait time, if its less than a 60 minute wait i would do radiators worth the wait and line moves quickly

Incredicoaster does close on april 8th so theres a chance of that ride being super busy for the weekend. but if you have absolutely nothing planned in the morning other than riding Incredicoaster and radiator springs, then you should be fine no matter what you choose to do first. im sure once the afternoon hits though, its probably gonna be long lines for both all day.
Monsters Inc seems to have a very, very popular following. If they wipe out the backlot to build Pandora, I wonder if they would build a better Monsters ride somewhere else? Frankly, the Animation Backlot at Hollywood studios would be a perfect place for a major Monsters Inc D/E ticket.
It's Spring Break right now, where's the crowds?
Among Disney theme parks worldwide, I believe DCA has the lower of annual attendance figures. The WD Studios Park outside Paris may have the lowest, the park in Hong Kong hasn't been too strong either.
Shanghai also has lower attendance than DCA.

Spring break done?
Its been busy the past few days maybe a late spring break
Spring break for Los Angeles and San Diego are over. Things usually don't really slow down until after Easter. There are still $75 per day three day weekday passes available for SoCal locals so April and May aren't as uncrowded as they used to be but it's still a good time to go. I'm local and my family always goes at least once during spring.
i think some schools JUST started this week. my friend was there monday and said the lines to get in even in the afternoon was really long. but i think the bulk of spring breakers are done and gone though so it shouldnt really be as bad as the week comes to an end. especially since its supposed to rain over the weekend, that will probably scare most of them away.
im a local passholder so I go once or twice a week so the long lines didnt really affect me that much but it will be nice to enjoy the food and wine festival without dealing with the big crowds.
In south Orange County my daughter spring break is this following week after Easter
this week and next week will be slammed.
