    I live in Berlin for many years. I can see some streets here, from which there are only 1, maybe 2 buildings remaining due to the war. And yet because they're there, you now see the whole street as it was. What you also see is how much fuller the city was back then. It has never really recovered from the war. Only now very slowly, but will take many decades and a German economic turnaround to be anything like what it was. Post-war Berlin and post-GDR Berlin has its charms for very different reasons.

Meanwhile the man on the left is wearing a colourful hunter-style hat, softer, with upturned rear brim and longer front. I like that men in fine suits were wearing fun hats like that out of the woods.

    How wonderful that science, research, technology and general progress enable us to capture the changing times in films and pictures.
    I believe in the potential of humanity and hope that the world will become more harmonious so that everyone on earth can enjoy the beauty of our planet as we do with this valuable film

      Abd technology and science also brought us the atomic bombs, the ICBM that can destroy whole countries, the biological and chemical weapons that can wipe all of humanity as well. Grow up and shake off this childish simplistic utopian foolishness. Humanity is degrading rapidly whether morally, intellectually or spiritually and to think that with The Powerful Ever-Living God Jesus Christ we can become better is not only wishful thinking but also a satanic delusion.

      From Wikipedia:
      The National Kaiser Wilhelm Monument (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Nationaldenkmal) was a memorial structure in Berlin dedicated to Wilhelm I, first Emperor of Imperial Germany. It stood in front of the Berlin Palace from 1897 to 1950, when both structures were demolished by the German Democratic Republic (GDR) government.

    • @Manaklyps
      @Manaklyps Год назад +1

      The demolition was purely politically motivated, as was the case with the Berlin City Palace a short time later. The plinth can still be found today on the south-western edge of Schloßplatz and is a listed building.

    • @Manaklyps
      @Manaklyps Год назад +1

      Of the actual monument, two groups of lions (two figures each) still exist, which were freed from the trophies and moved in front of the predator house in the Tierpark Berlin in a different formation and function. Furthermore, one of the eagle figures by August Gaul still exists and is owned by the Märkisches Museum, where it has been on display in the inner courtyard since 2013.[10] The remaining sculptural parts of the monument were destroyed.

    When I see these old films I am filled with sadness, thinking of the millions of people who would die in the world wars. I wonder what Europe would be like today if the old empires had survived and there had been no wars.
