  • Hey everyone! I've made a video about blacksmith tongs. Filmed back in 2020 :) Never got around to finishing the ending. Yesterday I filmed the rest while a video with English voiceover was rendering. Material - mild steel. Spring steel for blacksmith tongs is not very suitable. Due to working with hot parts, the tongs are regularly cooled by water. Due to such regular actions, the steel is tempered a bit and may eventually crack.

This channel is so underrated! I used to search for armour making videos over a decade ago and Eric Dubé’s channel was all that was around then.

That's an interesting twist on making a tong. Those ends could be tough to handle after extended use without gloves. Enjoyed the build!

I wonder if hitting two metal things over and over would take a toll on your arm or at least become uncomfortable. Because all that shock and vibrations from the hits must be going up the hand to the shoulders.

Start small and build your way up. If you build a foundation of good technique, you’re at much lower risk of injury, especially if you don’t use a hammer that exceeds your personal capacity.
