    DurhamExplorerZ RUclips Channel : / channel
    This channel is based in the North East of England ( UK ) and documents our explorations of both the underground and above ground workings of abandoned, and sometimes operational mines within areas such as the Northern Pennines, North Yorkshire and the Lake District, sometimes a little further. We now and again throw in some caving too. Our intention is to document these abandoned mines, show how they worked and talk about the history behind them. Unfortunately, due to politics, or the need to preserve the site, we can not always name the mine location. If the location is not shown in the video, please do not ask as refusal to divulge often offends.
    THE DANGERS OF ABANDONED MINE EXPLORATION :
    ****
    Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.
    This video SHOULD NOT be considered instructional or used for navigation within this mine. Video is for historical documentation and entertainment only.

    That was a cool mine. Thanks for sharing! I loved those stairs, but that shale made me nervous for you!

      Thanks but after being in that shale, we were more than happy to be under that arching again. My calves ached for 3 days after that.

    I want to know what the smeg the writing says. Oh, I think the boards either side were walkways so you shuffle along and don’t get wet feet.

      I can't remember, and there is some more further in that is truly unique and breathtaking, so I think we need to go into this one again!

      Yes, check out Noddle's video, he has footage of the sump, I thought I'd take a hit and send people his way to see it. Certainly a very dodgy mine, but maybe a return one day to explore further but from research, not more to see at that horizon.

    Good place. Just wondering what era it was cement lined! Btw, do you take lots of protein and electrolytes in your drinking water? Help immensely with energy loss! Our Robby gave us this advice and it sure does work! Still can't eat porridge for brekky tho lol. I like a very small brekky so eggs are a good choice for me.

      It was concrete lined in 1910 :) used to take lots of fluids and food with us, took some with us but did 8 hours exploring on 2 rounds of toast for breakfast, 2 x cups of tea and half a bottle of water. Rarely eat when out now, have steak when I get back lol

      @@UKAbandonedMineExplores You need food and electrolyte tabs in your water, whilst on the go. It stops energy drain. Honest 😉 You'd see a big difference! Just a couple of tuna baps does the trick for dad plus a protein bar and nuts n dried fruit. I only eat half of what dad eats tho but the same food!

    Huh. The mic did indeed pick up that thudding sound... oddly, from over my headphones at least, it sounded more like a distant explosion than falling rock...very strange.

    • @UKAbandonedMineExplores
      @UKAbandonedMineExplores  3 года назад +1

      Ears better than mine, didn't hear it at all when editing. We did go out to find some mining engineers hanging around outside, so maybe one if them.

    • @kadoj
      @kadoj 3 года назад

      @@UKAbandonedMineExplores it’s pretty darn faint, for sure. It sounds similar to someone tapping the mic with their finger or blowing on it very briefly, I had to go back and listen couple times but I’m fairly sure it wasn’t cus nobody’s hand is visible and there’s usually no sudden wind in a mine really, at least not that I’ve found. I could easily be mistaken, for sure, but it sure sounds like something goes “thump” but all muffled by the rock. Air pressure change perhaps? But what would cause that? I suppose something real deep shifting around could create a sort of suction for a second, that might do it...but I think you would have felt that, and also it’s terrifying to think about so lets assume it wasnt.

    don't like the look of the concrete looks incredibly thin

      When you see that hole to the arching, the aggregate there seemed quite thick, but thin in other areas.

    You’re so difficult to understand.
    When you start getting winded, it’s impossible.

      My apologies, in future, I shall take a ten minute break before each sentence, drag in a studio quality mic on a long cable and ensure to clean up and wear a suit with a dicky bow before making each statement. Perhaps you could come with me and instruct?
