The things we do. I do that: hiking and camping in wind, rain and snow. I'm left-handed as well and have a Hilleberg Soulo, only it's red. The best thing after a long hike is now not only a belly full of food, but getting warm and snug in your sleeping bag with it raining outside. Great video brother, in spite of the wind you had.
This is probably my favourite video of the Hilleberg Soulo EVER. I've lost count of how many times I've watched this now and it's an excellent example of the tent's ability and worth. Thanks for sharing the experience and the upload.
A great video! For me, I would need noise cancelling headphones to sleep in that - at least on the first night. I am not sure why I would need to hear anything except maybe in bear season - would camp away from trees. I have a Soulo BL and look forward to trying it out. I always put my gas canister in some water (not hot water). That can help a cold weather gas mix approach.
Great video once again and I can see what mean about the weather. A good tip about meals as it’s an area I always seem to run out of ideas on and a brilliant shout out to Margot of Hilleberg. Nice touch! ATB Andy
Got To Get Outdoors Thanks Andy, it was a bit breezy 😂. It’s bugs me to spend £10 on those meals and none of them blow me away. Margot’s stitching possibly saved my life. I really hope someone passes my message on to her. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
This is why I’m saving for this tent. Forecasts are so unreliable I don’t want to ever get caught out again. Having a Soulo means you really don’t have to worry about too much of a change in conditions.

Within the first few seconds of seeing this video I subscribed, knowing that I'd found a truly excellent channel! Actual, real world camping in the weather we get is an excellent test of equipment. Thank you for your information on the Aldi goodies, I particularly liked how you added the chicken pieces and mixed nuts to the pan and the custard and cake idea was phenomenal, loved by school dessert loving (grown up) kids everywhere! I carry a small assortment of different herbs and spices to boost whatever I cook, they invariably bring it to life a little better. What an outstanding testament to the necessity of high quality gear for winter outdoor trips your video is, your perfectly pitched tent protected you and your camp from the worst of weather. Windy enough yes 😀 love your movies, I am planning to buy either Akto or Soulo. Hard decision!! Don't want to carry to much weight, but the comfort in the Soulo....very hard decision.
@@WildCampingWelshman Thanks for good advice! I feel it goes in that direction 🙂 probably much better in snow also, witch we have more than enough of here in Northern Norway!
The only thing that lets it down, compared to the Akto, is the width of the vestibule. It’s a few inches narrower than the Akto. It is still usable though.
@@WildCampingWelshman yes like I said, hard decision 😅. I'm not so tall, but the sitting space in the Soulo seems so comfortable in the long run. But then again, almost one kilo more weight in the backpack. But thanks again for good advice and the video's!
A tad bit breezy but not windy enough 😅😅 Jiffy, that much wind would have scared me after my experience in The Lakes. But hey, I was in a cheap Coleman Darwin Tent so 🤷🏻♀️ Haha! Fair do’s on not bailing! That’s a “Full Monty” dinner right there. Ramsay would be proud! Hehe. I must say, i do like that pasta! Never tried adding nuts like that into it though. Love the shoutout to Margo, thoughtful gestures go a long way! Cheers, Mari
Than you Mari. I like to boost the protein content a bit because freeze dried tends to be carb heavy. I'll hopefully come up with some more ideas for cheaper meals this year. Have you just bought a Soulo because I haven't noticed you with one before? I hope someone passes the message to Margot, people are quick to condemn but slow to praise. The tent was solid and has given me some extra confidence. It helped that I knew the ground was good when I put the pegs in. TYFW ATB Jiffy 👍🏻

Awesome footage! The tent stood up well to the battering, but must admit I prefer the likes of the Polish Lavvu - less noise from it flapping around like the modern tents and they don't move.
Great vid and the comment that the weather forecast was a light breeze made me chuckle like a loon. What is the pot and pan set you are using please ? Well done on not bailing and heading for the valleys.

Morning mate. I've often looked in at your videos. They are great, was out the other weekend at rosebush. Good walking weather lol. An windy weekend. But great wildcamp was had. Thanks for your hard work an great video's. Atb andy
Stealth Andy Steath Thank you Andy. The weather hasn’t been too good lately but the wind in this film wasn’t expected at all mate. Goes to show that you can’t rely on weather reports. TYFW ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
@@WildCampingWelshman me an mi mate were laughing at that one. Was only about 20~30 mph that day. I ended up 60-80, can't trust the weather man lol.
Brilliant camp. Great tips n cheats.
Fair bit of wind 💨
Good job it were a Hilleberg 👌🏻
Send this to Petra at Hilleberg and tell her How pleased yer were to be in one of her tents 🏕
Michael Thank you. I’m hoping someone from Hilleberg sees it and passes my message on. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Hi Just subscribed so I will be going through your videos 👍🏻
Think you should send it to Petra @ Hilleberg
Michael I have copied her into a message in the Hilleberg Facebook group 👍🏻
That’s great 👍🏻
I would have done it, but far better coming from the author and owner. 🙏🏻
Great video mate. Gentle breeze 😂😂. Cracking views round there though bud. Nice morning after the storm.
Great video
ATB Adam 👍👍
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Excellent video, new to your channel. Found your channel on Instagram and very worth the subscription.
Excellent value for the meals and looked nice.
Them conditions were mad,but great to watch.
👍👍👍👍
Thank you. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Great stuff Jiffy. You made the best of it and thats the main thing.. positivity! Loving the custard and pudding combination, I bet it was nicer than something in a pouch from a camping shop. We have had some rum winds lately haven’t we?! I am looking forward to a change in the weather, being as we havent had a proper winter! Catch you soon mate, Atb Joss
Thank you mate. I don't get much luck with weather at the best of times but this was really unexpected. Thank god I'd had some sponge pudding! 😂. I'm looking forward to a change too but would have liked to have had some snow. Last year I did a camp in April and woke up to snow everywhere. who knows with this global warming? TYFW mate, ATB Jiffy 👍🏻

Perfect sleeping weather!
xxn0thing 😂 a great night’s sleep, honest 😉
superb loved watching that! what is the stove and weight … i have the trangia plus gas burner very stable but heavy
It’s an Optimus Vega 👍🏻
Definitely a bit breezy 🤣😂 reminds me of when I hiked the sdw last year had to wild camp through storm Francis thought my little nordisk was gonna fail but bless, it survived 🙏 thank the lord for ear plugs 😁 atb daz
Cheers Daz. Not what I was expecting at all. Thankfully the ground was good and held the pegs in well. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻🏴
Loving the superman cool bag!! 😂
I never leave home without it 😂👍🏻
Haha this is awesome mate! Looks like the tent held up really well! 👍
It did mate, thankfully 🙏🏻. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Windy enough yes 😀 love your movies, I am planning to buy either Akto or Soulo. Hard decision!! Don't want to carry to much weight, but the comfort in the Soulo....very hard decision.
My recommendation would be the Soulo. They are both great tents but there is more headroom and it is stronger in high winds. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
@@eirikjarlmikkelborg537 👍🏻
Awsome video. Just subscribed. New American freind here 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇬🇧
Thank you Bill 👍🏻
Gently Welsh breeze…. 😂 Epic mate. On a serious note you were lucky you weren’t hit by any flying debris! 😳😬
It certainly wasn’t expected. Flying debris would have been the icing on the cake 😂
amazinGGG!!!
Thank you 👍🏻
That's why I too have a Soulo for our lovely summer weather on the west coast of Scotland..🤣
So true mate. I’ve barely had any decent weather over the years including the Summer months. UK weather is so unpredictable 👍🏻🏴
THAT WIND WAS INSANE!!! That is the kind of weather that rips tents out of the ground
It certainly wasn’t expected 😂
Good video that mate (Wuz here), fair doos it got a bit of a breeze on!
Thank you Warren, great to hear from you old friend. It was a tad breezy mate 😬😂. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Bloody jiffy, certainly #embraceit 😂 well done bud, good video and what speed wind was that. Loving the aldi food can't beat it. Wetter than an otters pocket 😂🙏 ATB Dave Outdoors 🙏👍
Thank you mate. God knows what the wind speed was but I’d say a tad breezy 😂. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Hello mate. I like that little table you’re using. Can you share what it is?
It’s just called a lightweight camping table. I think I paid £12 on Aliexpress for it 👍🏻
Awesome footage! The tent stood up well to the battering, but must admit I prefer the likes of the Polish Lavvu - less noise from it flapping around like the modern tents and they don't move.
TheVocalMale They’re good tents mate but I find the pole a bit irritating in the middle. A solid tent though. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Very cool 😊
Thank you 🙏🏻
Great vid and the comment that the weather forecast was a light breeze made me chuckle like a loon. What is the pot and pan set you are using please ? Well done on not bailing and heading for the valleys.
Tregarrock Thank you mate. I use a toaks 550 mug inside an MSR Titan kettle, inside one of my pots from a Trangia 27 (with the handle too). It’s give me a bit more flexibility with meal selections. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
