Landscape Photography, Macro and Wildlife All In One Day

  • What a day! A sunny morning for landscape photography, beautiful fly agaric mushrooms for the macro lens and a wildlife encounter with photograph as the icing on the cake.
The weather was just as varied and interesting as the photography. Just typical mountain weather. Good thing I had the right clothes with me.
In addition, I was finally able to use a vintage lens that was unusable on my old 5D II (the mirror hit the lens) - the Contax Zeiss Distagon 28mm f/2.8. Lovely lens for landscape photography, but I feel it would be very nice for street too!
Although my goal was to photograph the beautiful mountain landscape, for once I was happy to carry the extra weight of the macro lens. You never know what you'll find on a photo tour!
    Thanks for watching!

Excellent video! I've been enthusiastically following a handful of photographer RUclipsrs for the last 2 years and this video is such a different and superb use of the medium: beautiful imagery, thoughtful but crisp editing, outstanding (and diverse) photos, subtle use of music and ambient sound, there's even a story there - and NO talking! Subscribed, and I can't wait to see more. Some days, videos like this are just what I need.

Thank you very much for your kind words! I'm happy you like my work.
And thanks for the sub. I hope I manage to make my next video between Xmas and new year. The city is calling again, so probably no landscape.
      Cheers

Nice video Thomas, as always. I don’t leave a comment on every video, but I do watch them! 😊

Thank you Kees, I'm glad you watch every video and that you're still around - because I noticed all your videos are deleted and I asked myself what happened?

Excellent video and photography Thomas. Sorry such a nice change from the many other photographers talking gear or trying to teach us a lesson. Simple straight forward photography. And you live in a lovely place. Cheers from southern Georgian Bay Ontario Canada

      Thank you very much Neil!
The teaching channels can be useful and interesting, especially for newcomers. In my opinion, however, the learning curve will soon reach an end on this path and then the real journey begins: going out there with any camera, being curios, willing to experiment, photographing, photographing and photographing some more and thus finding the way to personal expression and creativity.
What I really don't like are all the gear channels that mindlessly follow the camera industry's narrative that wants people to believe that new, "better" gear automatically leads to better images, which is the biggest fallacy in the photography world.
These are the reasons why I limit myself to showing in a (hopefully) interesting way how and where I work, the resulting photographs and how I rate them. If I can spread a little inspiration that way, I'm more then happy.
Where it gets really difficult without talking and I therefore sometimes miss it, is explaining the "why at all" and "why just like this".
But maybe I'll find a way to somehow convey this using only visual language or I'll make more "image critique" videos. We'll see :)
Bit of a wall of text, but your (and similar) comments have made me put my thoughts into words.
Yes, I'm lucky to live in Switzerland and thanks to photography I don't forget the beauty of this country - which unfortunately can happen too often in familiar surroundings.
      Cheers

Thank you Brian! This time I put more thought into the intro than usual and it's nice to know that it paid off.

Doesn't help for the "first 30 Sec." rate though, it's actually on the very low end. It's still a mistery to me, why some videos keep most people watching and some not.

@@thomasrhinow eh whatever. I don't get why some people click on some of mine and then leave within 2s. It's not even enough time for it to load haha

Great location Thomas, I also went hunting for Fly Agaric this year, 3 years to find a location only to find them in a small wood opposite my house which I didn’t check! Have a great Christmas.

Oh no, 3 years and then immediately opposite? Murphy must have had a hand in that.
