Probably the first beat 'em up game ever released for the arcades. The game is based on the Bruce Lee movie Game of Death. This inspired many beat 'em up games like Double Dragon, Renegade, and Streets of Rage games. -

Fun fact: this game was directed by Takashi Nishiyama, who would later go on to direct the original Street Fighter.
WOW! Back in October 1985, when I was on my lunch hour from work, I used to walk over to the bus station to play this arcade game over, and over, and over again... I never beat rescued the girl, but I spent a lot of quarters trying.
So much fun playing it back in the day.
Ol' girl didn't even flinch when those knives came flying by.
there isn't really much difference of this to the NES version which was simply called "Kung-Fu"

One of my favourite game in the coin-op bars where I used to go during my childhood...so hard to play, but could never stop playing it. I tried to play it again on my Anbernic RG35XX retro-console, but the keypad do not allow to run and jump at the same time. I hope this issue will be fixed with the new Anbernic console with analogue sticks
I finally beat the arcade version of this on an actual arcade cabinet, in 2022. I used to beat the NES version multiple times in a row in the 80s, but the arcade version is MUCH harder, especially the boss of stage 4.

Ya know... now it makes sense why so many NES games had high score counters. They weren't emulating arcades. They were ports of arcade games.

I played the arcade version of Kung-Fu Master almost a year ago. I also played the NES port of Kung-Fu Master called Kung-Fu on the PlayChoice-10 (arcade, nearly the same as the NES version), and on various websites.
Kung Fu Master = Vigilante
