HEHE, I sold my car back in early 2006 and either walk, run or bike everywhere. Now I can go all-day-long and never loose my breath. I want to try an Ironman in the next few years as I need to work on swimming... : )
He did - CHRISTIAN SADOWSKI - Incredible.... According to IM2004 he had a bike split at 90 miles and must have had a blow out after that and walked in in. I am doing my first IM this week in Arizona and hope I have it in me when the chips are down. I would like to think that I do but you never know until you are tested....
Finishing the Ironman is a feeling, emotion, achievement that words can not describe...I cried the last mile of the run and five minutes after I finshed :-D
There is one thing that All Ironmen hopefuls have in common... and that is, the person we will become in the process of all the training and finally finishing the race! A person of sheer determination and discipline despite hardships and finally claiming the thing that you believed yourself to be capable of claiming despite what everyone else thought of you! That's why you are reborn! You are a person with a reason to now believe in yourself 100%.
1390 Did finish this race. He was hit by a motorbike/cameraman with about 10km to go to transition. He just made it to T2 just before the cut off and I think Cannondale gave him a brand new bike at the post race presentation evening the next day.
As Forrest Gump said: 'stupid is as stupid does.' To the person w/ 0 need to test their limits, this event makes no sense. When you look at this event in a rational manner, its the will to finish. How bad do you want to do this? How bad will the pain of not finishing be, compared to the pain of finishing? 70.3 in 2008, 140.6 in 2009. Comrades in 2010 or 2011.

i like the finish, seeing his bike tire completely destroyed, and he is WALKING it to the t2...amazing!
