Rosewood is absolutely cooked. After a month of surviving and coming from Riverside, that place had Louisville-esque zombie population @ default apoc settings.
Echo Creek has one of the best bases in the game, maybe two great bases, that are relatively centralized in the new area of the map. Gas Station being one of those amazing bases. Takes a bit to fortify it but after that it's amazing. I can think of only one other Gas-Station base location in the game and that one is all the way down near Louisville on the highway leading to it but that one is much smaller and doesn't have a large garage.
Was in love with the Fallas lake 2 story gas station, and the Echo creek station is just that but MUCH bigger, and with lower zombies. And it's pretty central to everything but Louisville a bit far away; however if you don't intend to go there till late game that doesn't even matter. It's a great spot.
What even needs fortifying? Zombies are so far and few in-between that once you clear it out, you only really need to worry about a stray once in a few days, maybe even more than that.
That small gas station/house/convenience store combo in echo creek was my first base in B42. Being right down the road from the new Guns Unlimited was CRAZY. Perfect for new players, broken for experienced players
Yea the river is like 1 big extra fence covering the topside of town. It's a much better outdoors spot than the farmlands or forests. Especially if you want to fish and play the summer months slower at the start. Just ignore a car, electricity and have thanos thighs.
The map for Irvington is a little weird because it has both a fire station and a police station, and also a mechanics all within a relatively short distance of each other, and what looked like a storage facility behind the police station. The map is technically correct but I think if they were to put all the icons on the map it would look super crowded
Muldraugh will always be my favorite. Every time I play I start there and base up at the Pub to the south. Nice secluded area giving me the security and safety to make runs into the town for supplies, and once I have what I need it's literally a 2 minute drive to the main road out of town.
I did a horde night March ridge run back in build 41 and it definitely taught me how to work with the scraps I was given. Great place to challenge yourself if you like looting and working with the tools you’re given, and the annotated map for the apartments is a great bonus
March Ridge is a 50-50. The VHS store comes in clutch for skill tapes and its a must if you cant find a certain one. Then, if you happen across a certain annotated map the student dormitory gets turned into a military house, and every container there will spawn guns and ammo. I think its the place with the highest potential loot, providing you find the map first
It's also got a post office and gigantic library right next to each other. Definitely the best town for skillbooks/mags in B41. Not sure if that's still the case in 42, haven't been there yet. I'm sure I'll stop by if I'm struggling to find the generator mag though.
You didnt talk about the Brandenburg military checkpoint which is about 80% the size of the Louisville checkpoint and has a ton of open fields nearby to clear out the zombies on, certainly makes the town worth visiting
Having done a mad dash to Louisville's gated houses in the first 3 days by foot(never found a working car, had to sleep in the middle of the road twice). It's a great starting town if you don't mind several brushes with death.
I really like the gas station in Echo Creek. Made it my current base because I want to do a little more laid back playthrough with actual weapon crafting.
@@randomhero6365 I found three pretty quick, actually. Finding keys has been a lot easier in build 42. Basically any building with a good amount of cars in the lot is guaranteed to have at least one key somewhere inside.
Riverside has always been agead of Rosewood for me but now that the river is even more relevant and Rosewood is even more teeming with dead I'd put riverside at the top of A tier or even in S tier. Rosewood has a handful of reliably lootable POIs but I consider the typial base spots to be noob traps. That fire station is a death trap. Riverside's river is now more valuable for wildlife tracking, keeping livestock, and foraging but the new lighting system means it's a reliable guide to help you from getting completely lost at night. The way fishing works now too you want a long stretch of water you can potentially find fish at instead of just finding them anywhere. Riverside is also fairly close to some farmland which means within a day's walk of three different paths you can find livestock. Guns are also now more valuable in the early game which means the police station, the wealthy homes in the gated community, and the hunting store slightly north of town are all much more valuable POIs. Now that zombie populations are more mixed I think have a plethora of decently defensible locations like Riverside has as opposed to three generally good locations (that can easily turn into deathtraps) that Rosewood has. Gas is also more important and Riverside has more access ro gas stations. I also love about Riverside is that it has all the POIs you'd need but they're all small. You'll find some of what you need from every category of need but not all of it. It means you'll have to improvise, you'll have to loot homes more (which means a more varied looting experience), and means you'll want to travel out further for those few things you just cannot find. In conclusion, Riverside >>> Rosewood
The only negative I'd give riverside was it was too far away from other towns, and far from the center of the map. But now the maos been expanded, it might remove that negative completely
Funny how all the new locations made up the lower half of the tier-list (Also March Ridge got a new POI in the form of it's military bunker as of build 42)
"not much in march ridge", Going to suggest you give some of the places you've rejected here a look/see in B42. Don't want to ruin the joy of discovery for you, but I'll suggest looking around for new things near the school.
I like westpoint lol. The three rich houses west of ….westpoint are a great base within driving distance of the loot. Just head to the police station first, set off a police car then loop back around to clean up while the zeds chase the siren March ridge has a Hit vidz, nough said to swoop through at least once
With all the expansions, West Point is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, who knows how long it's gonna take to get our whole maps back up and running. Regardless, after playing as a nomad in an RV, I'm having a hard time getting back into the game at all.
March ridge is only good for survivor houses later in the game. Unless they changed it in the new update, the multi-home townhouses here can spawn with so much loot inside if they become survivor homes. Otherwise it's remarkably boring and a literal dead end Muldraugh has vastly improved as a spawn location due to the new zombie spawns, new larger police station, and overall perfect middle location but could really still benefit from a hospital and/or fire station Riverside is out of the way but should be worth the stop if you visit Brandenburg (which you should, I reckon- it's the biggest new town). It really has limited worth unless you want to find a fancy car I guess? West point is tragically unbalanced with a whole ton of zombies and not nearly enough loot to make it worth it. The old West point expansion mod was basically essential to make it a viable destination. It has two good weapons locations and a decent pharmacy, but it needs a fire station badly I think. It's best feature is being closest to Louisville and the mall and shooting range/gun lodge by Valley Station to the north, Fallas lake is a good place to stop but the lack of a starting spawn really holds it back. Then again it's tough to find a decent vehicle if you spawn here (with mods for example) so maybe they need to tweak it a bit first. Highly recommend a visit to the gun store and the police station. Just don't get broken down here or you're probably stuck Rosewood is almost as out of the way as March Ridge, but the police and fire station as well as the Prison make it a critical location to visit for every survivor at some point. My second choice for a perfect spawn point to Muldraugh Echo Creek is... Quite barren. If you get lucky and find a car here it's alright to use it as a quick and easy West side spawn but the nearby roads are small and rural, making them potentially dangerous for new drivers. Not to mention heading west past the giant gun range is almost certain to lead you into a huge hoard of zombies and ruin your car if not get you zombified. It's a mixed bag that needs more testing for me Haven't tried Brandenburg Haven't tried Irvington Don't even remember Ekron, pretty sure there's nothing there worth talking about. They really should add something interesting, but it's a very rural area and there are nearby commercial interest points like the Army Surplus store and the hunting store off the county road if I remember correctly, so it's not a total wasteland Louisville is hell. Go here only if you're armed with enough firepower to invade North Korea. Or if you want to disintegrate your PC's CPU
While marchridge isn't crazy with pois it's a great place to visit for training g materials, very big 2 story library in the community center and a VHs store right around the corner, with the new books and magazines, skill books are near damn impossible to get all of them for skills you need in a reasonable amount of time.
Just visited Rosewood from Echo Creek, INSANE pop, couldn't even drive down main street, they are blocking the road. Rosewood may not be a beginner town anymore, ngl.
Ngl, i legit spent 3 hours clearing out rosewood in the new build and i had about 4500 kills. I did it out of spite due to the zeds chasing me from the gas station to the fire house and killing my first character and it disappearing sadly.

Only disagree with Rosewood as a 2k hours vet is famous for the firefighter station I actually find pretty weak. The place has poor loot and big population for what it offers
Reporting in from Echo Creek. The loot here sucks! That is all. Edit: I didn't find my first cigarette until day 17. I'm big regretting taking smoker until I can find some tobacco seeds.
Rosewood is absolutely cooked. After a month of surviving and coming from Riverside, that place had Louisville-esque zombie population @ default apoc settings.
I knew it was worse than Riverside but damn I didn't know it was that bad😭
My rosewood has no more than 2000 zombie. I love it.
Spent a whole week trying to clear that damn town, with guns.. in Build 42. Literally genocided the entire population of Rosewood.
@@Tiku-maybe if you start there you get a handle on the population
I always loved what we called Ekron. The farm suppl/guns with a police station next door with even more guns.

Totally changed from B41 but in a good way, although not that secluded anymore and it's filled with zombies

in all honesty Echo creek is like westpoint for noobies. You grab a car and hit the road.
If you can find a single working car in the entire town. It's mostly for if you plan to hit that big farm and do a farming playthrough
