Leather vinyl wrapping a dashboard and trim in a Lexus ES330
Since a lot of you are interested, you can purchase a similar leather vinyl here. This is the closest to the one I've used. I've tried to include everything that you'd need for the project.

I'd love to do this but I'm very skeptical. How's it holding up now?
A bit melted by now.
Will it hold ? Temperature inside care reach cross 60°C when parked under direct sunlight. I am very sure it will not be able to bear the inside heat and vinyl will loose with few days.
Hello sulihack, how is the condition now after a few years? Contemplating doing mine ty
Hello sir. Im wondering, did you use any liquid or soap water while stretching and adjusting the wrap? Like the one people use when they do tinting on windows?
Looks great, but make sure you do a separate cut for the passenger airbag, otherwise in a collision the airbag would rip the whole thing off
If the airbag deploys ...... chances are, the vehicle will be written off so if the vinyl is ruined its really not that important.
John Turnbull
The vinyl is not important, but the airbag being under the wrap could burst the whole dash and hurt the passengers.
There’s a chance the vinyl might hold back the airbag or slow it down.
as per my knowledge it doesn't matter, the airbag will find it's way incase of any accident even if it is leather.
ruclips.net/video/QS6ywFGcLSk/видео.html
If that air bag deploys someones gonna have a leather dashboard wrapped around there head..lololol
Exactly,..... so its better to proximate the head positions and make a two pairs of eye cutouts on the dashboard. In an event of the air bag deployment, they would have the chance to see whats going on if the leather wraps around their faces. :) lol
konquer247 omfg lmao 😂😂😂😂😂
these type of comments are the real reason I look over youtube
😅
@@konquer247 best throw in some nose holes too LOL
What type of material are you using here? I need a stretchy fabric to cover a boat dash
I’m wanting to do this myself to my truck. How is the vinyl sticking? Where can I order this from? Awesome jobs guys
It's the description, but this is what he linked to:

Looks great! Awesome car restoration on dashboard lining to upgrade 🚘 auto look make over.
Thanks for sharing 👍
will the passenger airbag still deploy successfully or did you guys do something special to that area so that it does deploy properly? Just want to know cuz im thinking of doing this too...thank you.
+Vww Boodlam It was cut after the video was shot. This material is extremely thin, I doubt it would have an impact on the air bag deployment.
I read on a dif video that If you don't take the dash out and wrap the vinyl around the back a little, it'll all peel back up on a hot day . Has that been an issue ? I really don't wanna remove my dash for this stuff
+Dani Tell It depends, when I was doing this one I cut a little extra (about a mm or two) and just pushed it in the crevices with the squeegee. You never want to cut it exact because over time the vinyl may shrink. As long as you don't stretch it too much it won't peel back in you.
This is actually my cousins car and he didn't want to remove his dash either. To get the cleanest factory looking finish I would recommend removing it, you will also save time on the installation.
I hope this information helps.
+Sulihack all right thanks . It was very helpful . I'm trying to make a super beat up dashboard look a little less ugly, but I have no idea how to take a dashboard out. You're one of 3 people I found who showed how to do it with everything still in the car. It won't look perfect , but anything is an improvement from its current state. Right now it looks like someone put on heels and river danced across it.
How much does something like this run, and is it a self adhesive leather? How hard was it to do the dash? I have a "genuine" dash mat that fits for crap.
I got a 96 lincoln town car and i was thinking of painting the doors BUT NOW IM GOING TO WRAP IT UP thanks
I was thinking of doing door panels on my nissan. The entire door panel not just the trim do you recommend as a good method of vinyl wrapping it?
Mel Cmd do you have a 350z?
did you do it? im thinking of doing the same.
How much would something like this cost approx.. also, the cost difference in vinyl vs leather please?
Nice contrast
where can you order material? I've been looking for a long time. Thank you
Also do you put the adhesive on the dashboard first or do you put it ont he back of the Vinyl or both or does it matter?
Neither, it comes already applied.
what a great idea, to cover the airbag
Why thank you
this was sarcasm!!!
What brand is this? I remember i came by your place to buy carbon fiber vinyl a few years ago..never even ended up using it. But do need more again high gloss dark black if possible. No vvivid tho.
It's actually unbranded... This video is so old lol. Send me a text, I can get you a price on the gloss black.
@@Sulihack i dont remember your number. Can u send it pls
@@akuma4u Send me an email with your number, I don't want to post it here lol. Contact@evo-films.com
or send me a DM on instagram @evofilms.
This is ok, but I would still remove pieces to do a better job so edges do not come up once the car goes from hot to cold.....as I find that is a big problem with most vinyl like you are using.:) Just a tip....
How long did it take to do the actual dash, want to do this to my old 4runner
SAME! have you done it yet?
@@bryanaviles1836 no, ended selling my 4runner then trading another vehicle and buying 17 Tacoma that came off of a lease!
Some cars comes with cheap leather that turns sticky so this is a great alternative
Can you tell are they durable?
I JUST FELL IN LOVE... THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR.....I HAD A 2008 INFINITI G35 SEDAN AND NOW HAVE A 2008 INFINITI EX35 CROSSOVER WITH THE FAULTY DASH... AFTER YEARS OF SUN THE DASH GETS "GUMMY" AND STARTS TO HAVE HAIRLINE CRACKS.. I FRIGGIN HATE IT... I THINK THIS WOULD BE A AWESOME ALTERNATIVE CHOICE.. VS $1600 FOR A NEW IDENTICAL DASHBOARD.. HOW LONG WOULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS COST? I WOULD DEFINTELY PAY FOR THIS
+SCUBBAJ03 Send me a message and ill let you know!
Lol i have this exact issue with my 2008 G37 Coupe, and Infiniti does not want to do anything about it. Been looking for a solution and I believe this is the best one that doesn't make me shell out $$$$$ XP
Any update on y’all guys trying this out on the G37 ? Same problem here!
Great video! Is the leather a soft touch? Thinking of purchasing some for my car. Cheers
Thanks for this tutorial! May I ask what is that yellow "credit card" looking thing called (the one that shoves the vinyl wrap in tight areas)?
+Kim F it's called a squeegee
Or a spreader.
Is the sun going to melt that 😂
Looks solid! Any advice for wrapping the dashboard?
How many feet did you use to wrap the front and passenger side doors and dash board
This would be perfect in my situation. I just copped a Mark X in more or less mint condition except the dash is cracked from sun damage but I don’t think I have the coordination to make it clean.
Made this look easer then it actually is too do
Thanks
Will that affect the air bag
Looks great. Where are you guys located at? I would like to do mine lexus IS250 too.
In Toronto. I dont do these anymore!
Oh ok. thanks. I live in California.
nice!! what I think about is , can I wrap the carbon sticker on dashboard?
You could always do a text piece. if the surface isn't completely smooth the you'll be able to see the texture through the wrap.
Six years old how is it holding up ?
Lasted fine for 2 years then car was sold
My dog wrecked my top part of the door panel by the windows in the back seat of my 2014 subaru outback could I do this to fix it?
+Annaliese Johnson it really depends on the material etc
Would it help to peel off the old vinyl and then install this one cause my G37 seem to have a yellowish cushion underneath the leather...Ijs
I would go overtop, it'll bond better to leather than that cushion stuff.
Where I can buy the wrap?
why dont you share with us the exact leather wrap you used instead of one that is the closest?
nice vid thx so much
could you tell me the name of supply company which provides leather vinyl? i ve been searching web but couldn't find it. cheers
You can probably find some on eBay. Have you checked there?
Thx for reply. Yeah i ve checked ebay. Typed leather vinyl, leather wrap, leather looking vinyl etc ended up finding black and white color selling from korea but i want brown, red or blue...could you give me some info plz?
DaeUng Yeon I don't think they have any of those colors, just black or white.
Sulihack right...I also found it is kinda pricy...did you order the vinyl from korea? Im located in australia
DaeUng Yeon this particular one was from china. Send me a message and I'll put you in contact.
hey what brand of material vinyl was that and what size? i have lexus just like that in the video and would like that same colour
+Joseph Fahie We used 5ft by 5ft to do everything. You should measure your dash and make sure you've got the right sizing. You can purchase it at:
store.evo-films.com/
+Sulihack thanks man
+Joseph Fahie No Problem
Great vid just wish it was more detailed so we could see the process for laying the vinyl especially to the front glass
no reaction so probably peeled off after 2 hot summers
Will this give a plastic dash a more luxurious rious "soft touch" characteristic
+zach hamlin Yes it did!
Bhai vinyl wrap dashboard main successful hai
Great job Sulihack this exactly what I want you are prof - please what is the name of leather material you use ?
+Really True Leather vinyl wrap
Thanks Sir
I have 2006 infiniti fx35 my dash have few cracks I would like to get it done with vinyl can u help
rub down the cracks , use body filler then wrap it
Is there any materials that are black but that won't be a shiny?
+Bryan Aviles Matte or Satin black
What kind of adhesive or product that is similar to what you have used that I can do this same project on?
I used vinyl wrap. It comes with adhesive on the back side of the vinyl, kind of like a sticker. So you just peel and stick, then heat it to confirm.
kok iso sampai keellass ngunu leh Boss...nemplek2 i Dashboard...
Cobey Huish M
Sulihack the vinyl wrap color is black mate ?
My thing about wrap is it looks good if you do a good job but 1 scratch and it's done. It's not like paint where you can touch it up. Plus if you dash has any texture you're gonna get that pattern in the wrap. So the carbon fiber wrap you just put down isn't gonna look right.
Wrap is much more scratch resistant than paint, especially the textured films. Also you cant "just touch up paint", its expensive and never looks right unless you redo a full panel. This is textured leather wrap not carbon.
Sulihack Not really. If a girl throws her keys or phone on your wrapped dashboard you're gonna have to deal with those grey lines for the rest of the wraps life. Paint is much more durable. A car wrap life is 2 years at most in a good place with no sand, dust. rocks or bugs. Where a cars paint job will last 8-10 years easy anymore. Plus a scratch with paint rarely goes below the clear. You can just respray the panel or section with clear. Wait for it to dry for a week. Wet sand with 3k grit paper. Spray it again and off you go brand new. Wrap also just looks cheap. You can use some vinyl material and upholster it. It looks so much better, doesn't have the cheesy ZIPPP noise that wrap's have plus costs the same. Upholstering is also 10x easier.
99% of vinyl scratches are removed by using a heat gun and felt squeegee. Heat the surface a LITTLE, run the felt squeegee over the top and gone. This is a simple repair on single color cast Vinyl.
When you compair painted finishes you should compare to a two layer vinyl the base vinyl (printer or solid) with a laminate over the top (aka clear coat). A laminated vinyl is what you see on most over the road trucks with graphics, and they experience much more weather exposure then an average car does.
The ability to "peel" a vinyl wrap is the best part... try to remove a paint job to reveal a protected factory finish when use does take its toll or your sick of the color you liked 2 years ago.
Billy Houston Or you can just save your money.
will air bag still deploy through the wrap?
yeah definitely it's just an adhesive backed vinyl so I don't think it's gonna slow down an airbag at all
In my workshop, when I put on ma leather, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
What about shaking your big fat man ass, making that shit clap, can you do that?
your knife cuts look very precise. is there technique you are using to avoid damaging the interior ?
+ahmad abdolsaheb Use a shart blade and let it glide over the vinyl. If it's in a crease make sure you angle it correctly.
@@Sulihack What kind of food would I need to eat to guarantee sharts prior to knife work?
Pizza
Wow that is crazy I wish I could do that I bet you I get so many bubbles and screw that up so bad. If I can figure out how to do that though I do carbon fiber wrapping all inside my car and my whole dash that would look sick
Its very similar, and the vinyl has an air release pattern which prevents bubbles from forming. Give it a try!
Good job👍🏻
When can you do mine?
Can use with the heat gun?
Can you tell me the brand name or manufacturer of the wrap.
This particular wrap is unbranded. If you're interested in getting some, send me a message and I can set you up.
Sulihack hey I seen you were getting ppl in touch with the leather vinyl connection can you help me out I want a roll of black and white
Rich Headd send me a message through my website (the about page on my channel) and I'll see what I can do for you.
would you recommend slightly wetting the surface before applying like you would a tint sheet?
this particular vinyl has air release channels on the adhesive sides, basically little tracks for air to pass through so you don't get bubbles. Because of this you don't need to use water, and it may actually cause problems if water gets stuck in the air channels.
how long is the life span of the wrap and adhesive?
+Kevyn Tak For exterior your looking at 2-3 years. For interior 5 Years +
does it shrink or expand with exposure to heat like the carbon fiber wraps?
+Kevyn Tak it depends. if you go over and under the corners you shouldn't have problems even if it does shrink.
Mean, do you have a video of how to do a window master switch with a lot of shape around the switches? Thanks
I don't have one yet, maybe I'll add one later
Very nice work
How long does it put up with the heat ?
Where can I buy this vinyl film and material
Where is this place located
curious what happens when that airbag deploys :D
no heat gun, no water, no removal of trim. damn these guys dont fk around
LOL I was learning at the time, took a while but yeah, working in the sun helps.
gonna need sunglasses from the glare when you drive that car now.
No heat gun was needed??
Sorry but I would take off those trim off and tuck in about half inch of.wrap to eliminate peeling.
I would too, but my friend didn't want me to remove it.
That airbag's deflecting out the front bumper when you hit something
dumb question is the wrap itself have an adhesive or did u spray adhesive on it?
+Adam Gaming most upholstery fabrics need added adhesives, but this is wrap vinyl. All vehicle wrap vinyls are self adhesive.
+Sulihack ok thanks man :)
How did the large dash piece hold up to the sun?
It's holding up perfectly. The leather finish was a good bonding surface for the vinyl. there was some minor lifting around a vent or two due to the heat but I fixed that. This was more of an experiment and it came out good.
+Sulihack awesome, what did you do to fix the area around the vents. I'm thinking about do this in my Dodge Ram.
+Donkay ! I used an adhesive promoter.
Hello! Were can I buy this kind of wrap?
And me a message and I can set you up
Sulihack Do what?
+Michael Wilson send me a message, sorry about that.
do you know were I can get the vinyl?
+Michael Wilson send me an email: Contact@evo-films.com
i wanted to do this in my 06 impreza can i apply carbon fiber 3m wrap to it? Main reason is the vinyl on the top of the dash and lower parts it looks cheap so i think a carbon fiber wrap would look extremely nice.
+NeFariousGamer97 It really depends, even what I did in the video... it was more of a trial that turned out well. If your dash is hard plastic then it might turn out good, but if it's soft leather like this there's a chance that it won't stick well and overtime lift up, in this case for us it stayed down but maybe we got lucky.
If you're down to try it out and don't really mind if it comes out bad then go ahead, who knows it might come out real good. But if you're looking for guaranteed results I would say try something else.
Where this shop located?
It uses what skin carpet is a plastic scotlet?
Nice work dude !
+Danko Dasic Thanks!
I like this but I would have done it in the original Lexus color. It's so creamy delicious.
What Trim Color would look good in Beige Interior and Chrome Trim?
You need to ask yourself that and see what you like... Just make sure it's not too off or you might have a hard time selling the car when you're done 😂
what about the passenger airbag? do you paste it up?
This is amazing
Thanks
this material name ?
is this removable? and does it leave any mark on the surface?
+TechJunkie Yes it's removable. It might leave adhesive marks but you can clean that with adhesive removal
Nice work? Where are you located?
Are you based in Houston?
Toronto
Who did you do it that fast?
Damn badass job!!!
+Mo3 Traxx Thanks!
"after the passenger survived the initial front on collision, he then suffered the suffocating death from the vinyl wrap cutting off his air"
reads like a book
loaction ?
Good job! Congratulations!
as much as i would love to get my dash board covered, leather would get pretty hot in the hot sun.
It definitely would.
don't get me wrong it looks really nice, i myself would prefer suede =]
***** that's okay everyone has their own opinions and taste lol. If you check my videos you'll see I did a suede pillar wrap. It would get real dirty real fast!
