19/10 with 3 blocks a game, 13th in defensive rating, strict 30 minutes/game, on a bad team with no point guard. What struggles? Lebron was 21/5/6, and he played 40 minutes a game. Just let these young fellas play ball for a year or two before expecting them to carry teams.

bro seriously. i dont get the narrative. hes already broken records. every time i watch him play i marvel at everything he does at that height. and if they wana win championships they need to draft another star. thats how it works. dream scenario for me as spurs fan, i want Topic.
5-28? who cares. so if they have 10 wins it makes a difference? it doesnt. in any sport, its about winning titles. spurs hit the lottery with the #1 pick. this year is just practice and figuring out who we want to keep to build around wemby. the record means nothing. we need to draft Topic and make one big sign or trade and then we can compete.
the kid is a teenager and hes 7ft 4 and he could win DPOY! and he has had record setting games already! idc about how many wins we have. it doesnt matter we arent winning anything this year its about the future

@@kite36 The difference is that the Lebron criticism was just lies. He was carrying the team, straight out the gates, harder than anyone else in the league was carrying a team. People still found a reason to criticise him because he couldn't 1v5 every other team in the league and was usually stopped at or before the conference finals. The haters weren't smart enough to realise that the team around him was one of the worst in history.
Seems to be a trend with his haters, even in the goat debate people don't realise how little help he had compared to Jordan (most help in history).

Meanwhile, Wemby doesn’t even have a true point guard let alone a solid team with an identity. Both Wemby and Chet have been great, but it’s unfair to compare them on team success. Give wemby the rest of this year, a full off season to train, and another playmaker who can help create for him and his he’ll become far more efficient.

He's not playing that bad, and he's been improving. He's improved his shooting percentage from like 42% to like 44.5%, he's increased his rebounding tremendously, he's still a defensive force, and the season isn't even halfway over. I'm predicting that he get up to 21 points, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 turnovers, and 3 blocks as his averages by the end of the season, at like 47% from the field and 32% from 3. At points in the past he would say that Tim Duncan had to touch the ball every possession, right now they barely give Wemby any touches at all. I don't agree with this at all. I feel like these guys haven't watched any of the games and just looked at his season stats before this segment. Wembanyama has been playing great for a rookie if you actually watch the games. The main issue is that the Spurs dont run plays for him and he only plays 28ish minutes per game. When you take both of the factors into account, he's actually playing great. Saying he's struggling is a massive reach.

For reference Shaq averaged 37 minutes in his rookie season. He averaged 23, 14 and 3.5 which almost exactly matches Wemby’s per 36 numbers.
The main issues are that the team are young and inexperienced and that the coach/president of basketball operations is deliberately tanking because he plays the long game and he has the freedom to do it. 2-3 years from now they’ll be dangerous.

As Shaq said, Wembanyama's focus needs to be on improving his game at this point.
