As a kid growing up in HK, aside from school and daily vigorous badminton training, I developed a passion for dancing, and 草蜢Grasshopper quickly became one of my favorites! And right around this song 忘情森巴舞 was released, I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet my idol!
It was a random quiet afternoon, I was playing with my big brother (S/O to H!) at home in our small flat in HK on the 3rd floor. As he looked out the window, he noticed 4 people outside-1 with a professional camera and 3 people posing for the pictures. We thought they looked like 草蜢 but we were like nahh, ain’t no way. As we looked closer (even grabbed our toy binoculars), it was them!! So we quickly ran downstairs with our dad’s basic camera (傻瓜機), bravely went up to them and ask for a photo. We were so nervous and didn’t know what to expect…but they were SUPER nice and not only did they take pictures with us and signed autographs, they also took the time to talk to us and gave me advice on how to become a better dancer! It’s a moment I’ll never forget! I developed the picture and kept it in my wallet. I showed it to all my friends at school and was the coolest kid that day.
Sadly, I lost my wallet with the picture some years later, but this memory will forever live in my mind!!
Respectfully, I want to pay homage and show love to 草蜢Grasshopper the best way I know…by writing a rap verse!
Someone please let Remus, Calvin, and Edmond know, I would love nothing more but to recreate the moment and take a picture with them if/when I get to meet them again! ✌️🤟
