I mean compared to the others in the series, you have so many more tools to help you win. Just because some losers sit around in co-op, something that has been happening since Demon Souls, doesn’t mean the game is more difficult. And I get it just don’t use those tools, but they still exist to be used in the game so you have to factor them into the difficulty.
@@richizzle39I respectfully disagree but also agree. It is very much easier than the others if you abuse shit like spirit summons, jumping heavy str spam, shield poke, magic & bleed. But harder if you are using shit with OK-ish or less damage. In DS2-3 I got so tired of getting summoned for boss fights where the host would die when I was just trying to get embered or get free souls that I thought "I don't care if all you do is literally run, your job is to not die" and I was glad if they did so, I can handle the boss. In Elden Ring it's different. Literally just yesterday I was putting my sign down for the swamp mansion boss (don't wanna spoil what it is) because I was struggling against him. First boss in the DLC so far that was giving me trouble so I was practicing this way against him so I could learn his moveset faster, and I land on this host *with a greatshield tank build* who summons only me and then proceeded to stay back the whole time. Meanwhile I'm struggling and idk how he can't freaking tell, but still he does nothing and eventually I ran out of flasks and he just let me die. Then ofc I see him die to the boss while dead before the session even ended. All you could've done is just walk forward with your greatshield and wait, stay safe, draw a grand total of 30 seconds of aggro. Apparently freaking not. I don't have as much incentive to "win" in Elden Ring co-op anymore because I don't feel I get as much out of it as in DS games. Now I just do it for fun, so yeah, if I run into players like these now, I leave. These guys piggy back on us then turn around and say "Malenia was easy"

Meanwhile, I was helping a newbie on Margit with my new char, and we lost just barely one time with like a sliver of hp left, but he ended up calling me again and we had an epic fight where we absolutely obliteratd Margit as I only got hit once lol
Reminds me of DS3 when some dude summoned me for Curserotted Greatwood, of all bosses. It's an easy fight for free runes, and I wanted to practice being a summon since it was my first game. He was obviously a noob too, since he sucked at spacing Phase 2 and kept getting grabbed and dying. Then we had a glitch where I couldn't even enter the arena and was stuck swinging wildly at the fog gate... Being resummoned for the fourth time and both of us immediately doing the "collapse in despair" emote at the same time was the most connected I've ever felt to a stranger I couldn't speak to. We beat the boss easy after that. Hopefully he got better at the game. I wonder if he also remembers the time he summoned Keanu Reaves to help him beat up a tree...
I was playing with a friend of mine and were doing Melania in hos ng+2 and were summoning for fun. He uses gamertags and I use character names for multiplayer. He summoned someone and I informed him he summoned "sit and watch". So we did. I don't think he was prepared for what he was walking into though.
I did this not too long ago. I was helping people with the sunflower boss. And during the 2nd phase I noticed that the phantom was hacking because he took absolutely no damage from the big aoe explosion the boss does and so I just left.
I would have left too. There are a few cases where, as a summon, I've stepped back and sat on the side lines because another summon decided to solo Malenia (and it was in their name). The only other time I'll leave hosts is for fight clubs (not interested) and a host that doesn't learn how to fight or share hate with their summons after 3 tries. Running into the boss head-on, just because you have a summoned person, and getting 2-shot multiple times is just a waste of everyone's time.
i had a summon beat malenia for me solo, and to my absolute amazement the legend that was "MALENIA'S CROTCH" managed to spend 99% of the fight not taking damage until literally the final few seconds of her second phase, and they still got the win. i then ran up to them, did the elden ring equivalent of giving them a big wet kiss (just kind of weirdly bowing in their general direction) but at least i was _present_ for it, and all credit to that person for not only doing a solo run while i fearfully ran orbits from a distance, but i was cocking _invested_ in the whole thing for the record the only other boss i've summoned for so far (co-op summons, ashes i abuse to hell and back unabashedly) is Mohg, which i even called a Discord friend up for to try and help, but i ended up beating him solo anyway after i realised that doing co-op was just buffing his health, so... whoops. so, y'know. it kind of balances out edit: i also read further down the comments that this host apparently _summoned you back three times_, what the hell?! at least have the shame to never summon that person again if they don't flawlessly solo the boss like you wanted-
I know that feeling and I thank them for it. It's because of them I became a "jack of all trade" boss killer. The downside is that you really can't master the bosses 😞 I'll usually die if it's a boss I rarely get summoned for. But maliketh, radagon/elden beast, Godfrey, rykard, morgott, mohg, fire giant, malenia and even the dancing lion are so easy to beat.
I'm petty, I'd stop attacking and waste their time as much as possible. Depending on the character I'm playing, just pull up a greatshield and block forever.
Honestly fuck it, I hate it more when I invade, and another dude invades and then the other invaded helps the host and his summon fight me, like dude, red on red violence should be illegal, I'm kn your side

I've seen this kind of behavior while invading. Some hosts will run all the way back to the grace and leave the co-op phantoms to fight me. Then when the phantoms die they just summon someone else. I always wonder why the co-op phantoms even bother when the host isn't willing to play the game.
Appropriate. I'll never understand why sheep even bother spending almost a hundred dollars on games just to do absolutely nothing or be braindead cheesy other than to maybe feel a sliver of worth? The only time I ever sat back in a boss fight was the Kos Parasite in Bloodborne, and that's only because I was at half hp, out of vials, out of silver and the person that came to help me was trying their damned hardest after we got it to half hp. So I just did my best to survive and not sully their efforts. Thank you legendary hunter, wherever you are now.
There are some niche excuses, for example, i have a friend who only cares about PVP, like, PVE could not possibly interest him less So he has me kill all the super tough bosses for him so he can get all the remembrance items He has 0 fun engaging in PVE, and just wants to fuck around in PVP, which means i get to fight the bosses twice, and he doesnt have to deal with the bosses, which he doesnt have fun fighting, win-win for both of us
i had something very similar happen with Lud and Zallen, after frigid outskirts i was low on heals so i summoned my 2 buddies and we barely scraped through, i stayed only hitting safe swings while the others tried their best to help me out, eventually they both died and i landed the last couple hits with 10% hp, ill never forget the way we pulled it off
100% this is the reason there's a stigma of not Respecting what so ever players who use summons, granted there are host who cant do it aloen they need help snd will put in the effort with help, but guys like this one give all host a bad name.
Having the host do nothing after summoning 2 people is more infuriating than having the host be aggressive with you and die. Despite having the same outcome, you can still see that the host tries on the second scenario.
So is leaving like that sure they’re not doing anything but they wouldn’t be much help anyway and i bet if they did try to help and died the people helping would be max that he tried a lot of people do that and tbf the 2 summons had it sorted

While I don't usually summon, on occasion in the Dark Souls games if I see someone's sign next to a boss I may call them up. I know it can be hard sometimes to get summoned so I like to think I'm helping people get their humanity/embers and Sunlight Medals. In Elden Ring I don't even see other players' summon signs because there's basically no reason to use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy unless you're explicitly trying to do coop, whereas in DS2 and DS3 you got HP bonuses for being in human form/embered so you would see summon signs coincidentally as a result.

I was playing with a friend of mine and were doing Melania in hos ng+2 and were summoning for fun. He uses gamertags and I use character names for multiplayer. He summoned someone and I informed him he summoned "sit and watch". So we did. I don't think he was prepared for what he was walking into though.
Yeah, he WOULD be named Twinku. Oddly fitting name.
I did this not too long ago. I was helping people with the sunflower boss. And during the 2nd phase I noticed that the phantom was hacking because he took absolutely no damage from the big aoe explosion the boss does and so I just left.
On PC or??
You can tell when a host has never praised the sun before.
Such disrespect!
You tell em, babe
I would have left too. There are a few cases where, as a summon, I've stepped back and sat on the side lines because another summon decided to solo Malenia (and it was in their name).
The only other time I'll leave hosts is for fight clubs (not interested) and a host that doesn't learn how to fight or share hate with their summons after 3 tries. Running into the boss head-on, just because you have a summoned person, and getting 2-shot multiple times is just a waste of everyone's time.
I find it harder to be in close combat in coop with bosses since I can’t read moves when everyone is shooting lasers and shit at it.
i had a summon beat malenia for me solo, and to my absolute amazement the legend that was "MALENIA'S CROTCH" managed to spend 99% of the fight not taking damage until literally the final few seconds of her second phase, and they still got the win. i then ran up to them, did the elden ring equivalent of giving them a big wet kiss (just kind of weirdly bowing in their general direction) but at least i was _present_ for it, and all credit to that person for not only doing a solo run while i fearfully ran orbits from a distance, but i was cocking _invested_ in the whole thing
for the record the only other boss i've summoned for so far (co-op summons, ashes i abuse to hell and back unabashedly) is Mohg, which i even called a Discord friend up for to try and help, but i ended up beating him solo anyway after i realised that doing co-op was just buffing his health, so... whoops.
so, y'know. it kind of balances out
edit: i also read further down the comments that this host apparently _summoned you back three times_, what the hell?! at least have the shame to never summon that person again if they don't flawlessly solo the boss like you wanted-
